Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

I think it's important to understand that a coaching staff is like a dictatorship. They're responsible for implementing a directive and responsible for it's success. They don't open it up to discussion. It's their way or the highway. Players are conditioned from an early age to not question the coaches and follow the game plan. Sure, they will take it under advisement, if you're lucky, but many don't.

Unfortunately, this dictatorship is failing to get the job done. Hence, you have a player letting everyone on the outside know that it's not fixable.

We don't know how things work. It's fair to think there is a possibility that AJ is the type that's letting it be known that players aren't happy about the offense even though the team is winning. If they are speaking up then we can take an educated guess that it's being ignored since they haven't really made changes even after the bye week when changes get made

The Eagles organization hasn't functioned that way since Chip left, though -- for good reason. The OL went to Doug early in the 2017 season and told him they needed to run the ball more. Doug adjusted. The OL has done the same thing during Nick's tenure, and he has adjusted.

The Eagles identity is running the ball, effectively and prolifically. The overall health of the OL has not been there all season. It's also fair to question how much last season's 2,000+ yards have taken from Saquon's burst this season. There's a reason RBs don't ever have back-to-back seasons like that.

I don’t really agree with the sentiment of pointing at Josh Allen and saying "hey, he can be really bad passing too!”

The Eagles are 28th in the NFL in passing yards per game. Every team behind them is either starting a rookie or a backup or a backup’s backup. Most metrics have the Eagles as one of, if not the worst team in the NFL on 3rd and long. A terrible game by an MVP QB shows that everyone can have a really bad game sometimes. It doesn’t change those 10 game rankings or reality that the Eagles have one of the worst pass attacks in the entire NFL.

They do it to show that even top QBs have bad games, but never consider that it's Josh Allen and a bunch of scrubs with a worse defense.

The passing game struggles with a top WR duo, Saquon and Goedert.

Can you imagine Hurts carrying an offense led by Cook, Shakir, Knox and Gabe Davis?

For myself, last night I started out posting about Allen the way some of our "fans" post about our own QB on gameday. Whenever there's another game on national TV people come out of the woodworks to comment only when another QB makes a good play to say they wish our QB would do that, they don't comment on their mistakes and INTs though. And they don't have anything to say when Hurts wins, completes throws and deep pass TDs. These "fans" wait til he makes a mistake to show up. Or just troll and criticize him when he completes a pass saying it was a bad throw and the receiver made a play. Never giving credit to their team's QB.

Then Allen really did have a terrible performance. Texans defense was brutal. I also posted doom and gloom that that game was over when it was a one score game because too many of our pessimistic fans claim a game is over in the 1st quarter when the other team makes a couple plays. Y'all don't call out those people for hating on their own team so much. Obviously our offense is low performing with a lot of weapons, we're all complaining about that and wanting more. It's pointing out hypocrisy. Hurts gets extreme criticism and called dumb, trash, ass, even homophobic slurs when he makes a bad play, or even when he completes a deep pass for a TD. Then you look around the league and even the top QBs are making boneheaded stupid plays. Mahomes threw backwards, caused a fumble, recovered his own fumble. Allen plays hero ball and makes terrible throws for INTs right into the hands of a defender. People also celebrate when Josh Allen has rushing TDs, the media report on "total TDs" for him but when people talk about total TDs for Hurts the haters come out saying it's spin. With Allen it's "he finds a way to win" and with Hurts it's "he's a RB playing QB." Another one is calling him the MVP. That was last year. When people say Hurts was Super Bowl MVP people scoff at that, don't want that brought up. There are always double standards for our own QB vs other team QBs. People say Hurts wins with top talent but forget he made the playoffs his first year as a starter with rookie DeVonta Smith, Jalen Reagor and Quez Watkins, and Miles Sanders at RB. In 2023 the team had one of the worst defenses in the league and most of his passing numbers were actually better than his MVP runner up season in 2022, except INTs were much higher. Hurts has performed with lesser talent and with a terrible defense as well, but we make those excuses for Josh Allen.

Allen has had other bad games as well this season not just last night. He's also lost to the Dolphins and Falcons. I actually like Josh Allen. A lot of us think we'd be happy with him as the Eagles QB. In reality he would be criticized for not winning, choking and for these bad performances and fans would say we'll never win with him, because Eagles fans are never happy with their starting QB and always want to run him out of town.

Hurts will never be among the top passers in the league. But his passing yards numbers are down from prior years with other OCs, although his pass TDs are up. Siri is obsessed with being conservative, majority of fans and media recognize how much Patullo is the problem, plus O line injuries affecting the run game. Hurts is also part of the problem. So are TE blocking, WR routes, play calls, head coach decisions, it's everyone.

By the way, Hurts is currently on pace stats wise to have less pass yards than 2022, but 27 pass TDs which would be a career high, and 1 (maybe 2) INTs and currently his passer rating is a career high at 107.0. And the team is 8-2 and beat a lot of top teams. This is why Siri won't change, because it's working. It's frustrating for all of us to want to see more from the star players on offense. Smitty is on pace for an 1100 yard season, Barkley a 1,125 rush yards season, Brown and 812 yard season (Smitty became WR1 and Brown putting up WR2 numbers), Goedert on pace for 12 receiving TDs. They will likely sit the starters at least 1 week so these numbers will probably be lower though. But that's the current performance pace for a 17 game season. So while we all want more out of the offense, Siri is looking at this thinking it's good enough, the defense is a top defense again and they are winning and have beat a lot of top playoff teams so why change.

I like him and he's been a warrior like the rest of the O line, but they really need to sit him and roll with Toth until he's truly ready. You want him ready for the playoff run. Can't believe Toth improved enough to even be able to say that.

Well, yes and no. Someone else mentioned Chip and that was one of his problems, not treating these pro athletes like mature men. Obviously some are immature. But you look to your leaders and do listen to them. Veterans earn trust and give input. Coaches have said that it's helpful to listen to the players from what they're seeing out there. I remember a season when Schwartz was the DC and they had a lot of injuries, he was relying on Malcolm Jenkins' leadership. Jenkins suggested that the scheme and calls were too complicated, to simplify it for the new players. Schwartz took his suggestion and it helped.

I think what you're describing is more seen at lower levels, but as players grow into higher levels HS to college to pros, and then as veterans who really understand the game it would be foolish and unwise for coaches to not at least listen to their perspectives. Then, as coaches it's their job since they're in charge to make the decisions and final say. But it is a collaboration. If coaches were constantly shutting down player opinions or things they notice on film, the players wouldn't want to play for them.

Cam is really lame.

A lot of these talking heads are there for rage bait. A lot of TV people don't even believe what they say, exaggerate or flip flop their opinions. They do it to get ratings and clicks, and it works.

You know we are in Bizarro world when Orlovsky is the Hurts defender. Also, why exactly is the tin man (no heart) Cam Newton on TV?

He's also got no courage.

That fumble in the Super Bowl, Cam was too scared to try to get that ball.

Question is will we win the coin toss and have dallas against that dumb shade issue in that stadium??? 🤔 🤔🤔

I think the last worry of Patullo is a player saying we have to and should be better, when now the National media is absolutely dogging him.

Maybe Patullo needs to take a few things off his plate like his OC job.

Orlovsky, the same guy the other day saying the Eagles offense isn't good enough to win a Super Bowl.

These guys have way too much TV time. All they do is flip flop by the day.

I don't watch those shows, just see the clips posted on twitter or here. But hasn't he in the past been a big critic of Hurts?

A bit off topic. I'm a uniform nerd.

Anyones else think we need a new uni? A revamped design? A different shade of green? Gray pants? Maybe an alternate helmet that's white, and not a black one?

Depends what day of the week you watch.

He rips him, he defends him, he rips him, he apologizes to him, he rips him etc etc

I think teams play around too much with uniform changes.

The midnight green was part of a trend toward those type of dark colors a lot of teams in various sports were doing in the late 90s, early 2000s. Look at the expansion teams Jaguars and Panthers, a lot of NBA teams went that route. The sharp edged fonts and things like that. It was done for what was trendy at the time and looks dated now.

I think they should make Kelly Green the primary color again. Some say they lost games in Kelly Green and won championships in midnight green but the uniforms have nothing to do with winning, but if you think they do they are winning in Kelly Green alternates these days. The fans love KG and you see a sea of it in the stands at games.

I wonder if they are testing out making it permanent by increasing the number of games in KG this year.

Alternates could be the midnight green and black like they've done for the Giants.

Agreed. Though I dont like his comment yesterday using Barkley's name to make a point which threw the OL under the bus. Hopefully just a misstep and not a sign of escalation over the line.

He's been over the line since he went public with any comments. The comments can stay in house and be just as effective, in fact, they could be more effective as the person/people the comments are directed towards doesn't have to be on the defensive. But, he's making it public for a reason, and that reason isn't about football. It's about himself.

Cowboys 26, Eagles 20

Offense sputters while defense shows that they're human. Everyone panics.

Those aren't necessarily contradictory statements. Saying the offense, as a whole, isn't good enough to win a super bowl can still be consistent with saying Hurts is playing better than Dak Prescott. Orlovsky may just be implying that the poor production of a running game and lack of creativity in the play calls and route concepts won't be enough to win it all again, but despite all that, Hurts is still doing fine with what he can control.

Cam Newton and Harry Douglas are Hurts/Eagles haters 1 and 1A. They predict the Eagles to lose every week

Understood but it's still a bit hypocritical. The most important position on Offense is the QB. It starts and ends with him. So to say "Eagles can't win the Super Bowl because they have too many 3 and outs and are not explosive" then turn around and say "It's unfair to criticize Hurts when all he does is enough to win" just sounds silly.
