Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

How many plays per game is the offense on the field vs previous years? Everything seems to be a three and out or a TD on a drive with some chunk yardage plays.

So far the Offense has taken 613 snaps and the Defense has taken 669 snaps. In 2023 after Game 10 it was 696 for the Offense and 659 for the Defense. I seem to have deleted my 2024 season spreadsheet.

Hey guys quick question before the games start, is Jalen Hurts good or bad at football?

Yes.

The main thing is the threat of him running.

In any case, just like almost all other QBs, Hurts ability to run is diminishing as the years go by though he's still really good at this stage. Many of the others have developed their ability as a pocket passer. Guys like Vince Evans, Steve McNair, and our very own Donovan McNabb come to mind. We have very little evidence that says Hurts progression will be successful enough to keep him as a top franchise level QB but he certainly will get every chance over the next couple of years.

I've said it a bunch but the thing that really irks me about Hurts is that he's shown he CAN be a good pocket passer. He can! He just doesn't do it consistently. He has maybe 3 games a year where he'll be accurate, poised, on time. And the rest of the year he's taking stupid sacks, refusing to throw the ball away, missing wide open dudes. So incredibly frustrating, and then on top of that you have the idiotic coaching and it's the most frustrating offense I've ever seen

Gonna play devil's advocate here, you will probably never hear any player in any sport outright say they didn't sign with a team because of another player.

The real question is what free agents have even been available that we would want here where Hurts would have been a factor? We traded for Dotson so unless there was a #4 receiver out there we were looking for I don't even know who would even comment one way or the other

Olamide Zacheaus (sp?) had a 40 catch 500yd season with ATL, came home to Philly and obscurity, then went to WAS for another 40 catch 500yd season for basically the vet minimum. I don’t think he left here because he hated Jalen, but because there’s little opportunity for individual success. I imagine when Howie replaces Dotson it will have to be done by draft or trade for similar reasons.

This just proves how much of an idiot sirianni is where he doesn't know there's a spectrum of risk taking, and if he remains firmly on the far end of the safe side they will lose games. There are very simple changes he can make that are still safe (crossers are the easiest), and yet here we are

Good stuff. Wonder how much that plays in to the number of rushes Jalen has per game. That and RPO tendencies this year vs previous.

I'm not counting him out but he needs to develop it a step or two further and start hitting anticipatory throws if he is going to remain effective as his ability to run continues to degrade. I really want him to develop but I'm not holding my breath.

Oh I don't doubt that players do make those kinds of decisions, moreso that you're never going to hear them say "I didn't sign with team X because player Y sucks" or anything to that effect. Youndo hear players all the time say they want better starting opportunities etc etc, and you can make an assumption that means they don't like player X or coach Y but rarely (if ever) will they outright say it

This is my point....."some people" on here are like, no one wants to play with Hurts, and all of the free agents (1,000's of them) that the Eagles have tried to sign have turned the Eagles down because of Hurts! Meanwhile, in reality, all of our offense has actually signed extensions to stay and continue to play with said player. And.....because we have WR 1 and 1b, TE 1, RB1 and an Offensive Line.........I'm sorry, what Free Agent were the Eagles even going after that said no thanks? The "stupid factor" of said person is beyond understanding. The fact is, there hasn't been one player targeted on offense in free agency recently to even try and say, they didn't sign here because of Hurts because the Eagles actually weren't even trying to get offensive players via free agency.

2024 (I recreated it) was 683 snaps on Offense and 602 on Defense after 10 games.

To answer your question, my suspicion is that the number of 3rd and long plays, and the resultant 3rd Down efficiency dropping is perhaps the biggest contributor.

We need to be sure to detach mindset and philosophy from incompetence.

Its fine to have that mindset.

Its not fine to try to run a team with that mindset featuring Patullo scheming and calling plays very slowly and Calcaterra showing his belly on ever block attempt.

I'd also like AJ Brown to give full effort as a 25m+ WR.

Today is a scheduled loss I think unfortunately, and the officials will 100% find any way they can to help Dallas win at home

Jordan Davis on Fox talking about the eagles defense that they want to bring back and be called the broad street bullies and Dean is the juice man

Hurts is not perfect, neither is anyone else on the team (Mailata 2025 is a good example of very good but flawed)

The problem is removing the Z- aspects of Patullo (they are legion) and TE2, TE3, and inured O-lineman playing below replacement level at times.

When people say things like "Hurts can be a good pocket passer" they just show astounding ignorance. He has 100s of amazing throws from the pocket already.

His passer rating from the pocket is very good.

We should focus on actual problems, not delusions supported by a parasite media environment.

I'd love for Hurts to be more like Goff on some throws but he can't exactly turn sideways and throw a high school level line of scrimmage pass to Gibbs and Williams in a dome 12 times a game.

Any pocket passer dies in a Patullo offense with a shaky line. The scramble drills and roll outs are why this team is 8-2 instead of 5-5

A pocket passer like Goff or Stafford 100% beyond any doubt lose to Dallas in week 1. No one was open all game.

Ofc the franchise tag is an option. Why not get it done early…. Jerry!

Who is WR2 for the 6 to 8 games before Pickens signs the franchise tag to get his year of credit?

Dak played the long game with Jerrah and robbed him blind because QBs can play until 40. The franchise tag risk is low.

As a WR Pickens can be OBJ worthless by age 30.

He's also not the most stable of human beings.

It seems the NFL changed the Thanksgiving times this year? I could have sworn the Thanksgiving games kicked off at 12:30 instead of 1 but this year they kickoff at 1.

They did.

You’re speaking broadly though; not against this specific comment. Because this comment is in reference to the current eagles, where that risk to lose games is not present

Football or being a QB?

It is absolutely hysterical. I can't decide if dude is Hurts Mom, Agent or Lover.

@SkippyX you keep talking about Hurts being better than other QB's, and then saying how he would have more success with their teams than those QB's would have with the Eagles. You seem to mention Allen quite a bit, but I have seen Justin Herbert mentioned also.

Please tell me man for man, position for position, which Eagle would you trade straight up for their corresponding Bill or Charger?

You are the first one to say Hurts cant succeed because of X, Y and Z, but there is not one player, across the 10 offensive starters you would switch for the corresponding Eagle.

You aren't getting an answer. At best you'll get an incoherent ramble that doesn't come close to answering what you've actually asked.

Yeah, it for sure feels like the defense is on the field a lot more vs last year. Hopefully, they don't get worn down as the season goes along. That's the downside to trying to "protect the football". They are basically giving the defense a glorified water break and 30-40 yards of better field position and sending them back out there.
