November 30Nov 30 Just pointing out, there is an NFL universe right now where Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes both don’t make the playoffs in the AFC. If the Buffalo Bills go on to lose this game to the Steelers today, they would also be out of the playoffs going into week 14 as they lose the tiebreaker to the Texans

Imo can be a consistent top 10 QB.Imo the difference between the Eagles with hurts and the bills with Allen comes down to howie Roseman has given Jalen hurts the tools and weapons necessary to maximize his talent and this team. Albeit the coaching is questionable. I look at the Buffalo Bills and I can’t say that. Their wide receivers the last two years have been poor. McDermott and coaching is also question. Particularly mcdermott’s defense. He has been there a while and his defense when they get to the playoffs tends to no show in big spots. For instance, AFC championship game last year. the Kansas City Chiefs did not score over 30 points all year. The one game they did? AFC title game. Same issue where bills up 3 with 13 seconds and he can’t get his defense to close it out.RTK, skippy, etc. will see it as hating The rest of us can appreciate Hurts but know there are QBs that are just betterSaints fans loved Brees but Brady and Peyton were better. It happens
November 30Nov 30 If Josh Allen were the Eagles QB he would get the same reaction as every Eagles QB in history. Miserable fans would criticize every bad play, every loss, blame him and want to run him out of town and call for the backup. Eagles fans have done it with literally every QB in my lifetime. Hero ball, rushing TDs, too many interceptions...he'd get ripped every week.
November 30Nov 30 Curious if Rodgers calls it after the season or wants to keep playing. He's only becoming more fragile no matter how well he can still throw bombs

Which means they probably will because the head coach is a moron. It's still the highest percentage play to run in those situations and the Eagles have a crazy number of RB carries where the RB is hit behind the LOS. So running it would be foolish. If Hurts gets the ball stripped 1 more time on a tush push then they should start just practicing regular QB sneaks. They're gonna ban the play after the season anyway.

It happensNot comparing Allen or hurts to these two. Just the scenario I’m giving out. I would argue Dan Marino was a better quarterback than Troy Aikman. Marino never won a SB. Aikman has 3 of them. Both of them were great. I’m not taking anything away from either one of them. It’s why they’re both in the Hall of Fame. The difference to me in why 1 has 0 titles and the other has 3 is early in Marino‘s career they had the talent and structure around him to compete for a Super Bowl. But as the years went on, the Miami Dolphins did not continue to do that. Had some solid teams and some frankly poorer teams. whereas Troy Aikman when he got into the league, did not have all that around him. He got punished during that time. They built it up but once they got it done that’s when he became a HOFer.

Maybe he gets too relaxed after the initial surge but the refs usually let it go for a few seconds before they blow the whistle.

It’s why I think some people who take when hurts being criticized like you wouldn’t be doing this if it was Josh Allen. No they would still be doing if Josh Allen was here when we are having the same problems. Now there’s been seasons with quarterbacks where we’ve defended the quarterback more and leaned more towards roster construction and coaching. Like 2019 when Carson wentz. He wasn’t playing great to start the year because you kept seeing all these videos all over Twitter about how the offense was stale and predictable. As well as he was missing throws and not reading the field well and hyper focused on just throwing it to ertz. But there was more of a collaborative. The roster construction wasn’t good, the coaching wasn’t good enough and Carson wentz also wasn’t good enough.

Anything can happen. It's up to the Eagles to make the necessary changes to achieve it.We complained about the passing offense last year but the run game was unstoppable. The defense was also carrying the team while this year they are starting to look tired and getting shaky. I don’t recall getting out gained the majority of the year and our point differential was second highest in the league. Anything can happen, but there are some pretty big differences that they just don’t currently have to suggest a run is in them.

Not sure why Hurts is struggling with it unless it was just two flukes.

They didn't lose until the second game against the commanders. The FO is going to have to be the ones to force it I guess since sirianni hasn't yet.The O was dog water till after the Jags game though. It was saquon carrying. The D turned it on and ramped up after the bye.
November 30Nov 30 Of course there are better QBs than Hurts. Consider how things played out though. Let's say they never drafted Hurts (which was a surprise to us at the time after signing Wentz to that contract). The 2020 season goes the same and they fire Doug and get rid of Wentz. Then they need a new QB. And new Head Coach Nick Sirianni can give his input to the QB he will work with. The QBs taken in the 2021 draft:They originally had the #8 pick. Would Howie have traded up for either Lawrence (meh), Wilson (bust) or Lance (bust)? They went #1-#3, and Howie would have had to trade up more capital to get them, leaving less assets for what they did the next year (trade for AJ Brown, draft Davis, trade back to get future pick to draft Carter). Would he have stayed put and taken Fields (bust) or Mac Jones (bust)?Any one of those guys would get roasted by fans more than Hurts. And they wouldn't have DeVonta Smith who they took in that draft. The Eagles also signed Joe Flacco that year, then traded him. Perhaps he could have been a stop gap. But would they have won games? Flacco didn't do ish for 4 years, until this year all of a sudden a resurgence. If they did that and waited until 2022 to draft a QB, the options were:Again, each of them would be criticized just as much or more than Hurts.Hurts isn't a great passer and we will see how things go, when the time comes that they move on from him who they replace him with. Whoever that guy is will get run out of town by the fans too. Fans criticized McNabb, Vick, Wentz, every QB. Eagles fans are never happy with the QB.
