To be fair, the whole situation surrounding Wilkins is so weird, and no one has signed him, so...maybe avoid that.

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Phillips can also play inside and he's quite good at it.

The way McLane has framed the Carter shoulder issues it sounds like it's wear and tear more than an actual injury. He played a ton of snaps last season, people complained about it then and maybe in hindsight rightfully so.

I think the biggest concern is rushing him back considering they've done that to other players with negative results

Wilkins had a jones fracture that doesn't heal without surgery and he opted for the non surgical route... which is to no surprise he hasn't played well. If he ever decides to get surgery on that thing then maybe he can get back to the NFL.

Meanwhile, Herbert should do the smart thing and sit out this game. It's only fair without Carter. Do the right thing, Justin.

The whole kissing on the forehead incident is probably a factor but wasn't he also injured too? I could be thinking of someone else though.

The good news is Xavier Gipson has returned to practice

If Herbert sits out. It's all over for the Eagles. 😜

They are getting gashed this game. Unfortunately.

Metlife may finally change.

This was way overdue...they should have worked together and taken control of that a long time ago.

Would any of those cause a multi week absence?

Yeah.

A steroid injection can sometimes be done for a labrum tear to provide pain relief. He could be rehabbing while the medicine does its anti-inflammatory thing. Other things it can treat are arthritis, or tendinopathies. Though this option is most commonly done with no downtime between injection and return to play.

PRP you are best off with a few weeks off while it does its thing. That can be arthritis, labral tear, or a tendinopathy. Sometimes athletes will play right away but its not generally recommended.

Tenex is always going to cause absence for rehab as, its truly a surgery that happens in the office instead of the OR. There is a tiny incision made. And tendon, and sometimes calcification within tendons are debrided away with a needle (similar to a tattoo gun, and a strong jet of water).

I kind of believe another thing when the new CBA gets discussed is that they’re gonna put some sort of rule where if you played 10 years in the NFL and you are released after the trade deadline that you don’t have to go through waivers. Cause I think this slay situation is going to shine a light on something where players want if they’ve accrued a decade should get to choose where they finish possibly their career if released.

I don't see this happening anytime soon. GMs will throw a fit...if your team has a need and someone comes available you claim them they either come play or they retire. I mean how many times has this really even been a concern across 32 teams in the last 20-30 years. This is an edge case.

Not sure what you mean by a clause in the players agreement...

It's pretty simple. Bills claimed him, Bills own his rights. He needs to report immediately. If he does not, he gets moved either to "reserve/did not report" list or "reserve/retired" list. Both act the same in essence. It freezes pay and doesn't count to their roster spot.

You're right here.

BUT Slay is a veteran with a powerful agent. Slay is going to tell everyone who will listen that Buffalo sucks and to not sign there. Is it that worth it if you're Buffalo who already has a hard time getting UFAs without overpaying?

I wonder if Buffalo adds some $$$ to his contract to try and convince him to stay

I get what you're saying, but he did have the choice in the off-season and the choice apparently didn't work out. So now he'll have to wait until the next off-season to choose again.

Whose going to listen to a retired guy who never even played in Buffalo?

I also doubt it's that deep for him if he doesn't get his way

I don't know specifically but it's not long. It happened with Alexander in less than a week.

The agent via the player said they aren't reporting. I don't see what the holdup would be.

Right now the statement from Rosenhaus sets up a state of limbo by saying "he (Slay) is going to take some time away from football right now and decide in the next few days if he wants to keep playing”. Not committing one way or the other. The Bills surely have an option at some point to put Slay on the "did not report” list.

I view it as i think players are going to make an issue of at next collective bargaining about it. I think it’ll be more for players over a certain amount of accrued seasons. I feel like the owners would be receptive to it if the players give them something they also want.

Agents already have too much influence in the league, the owners aren't going to want to give them more power and set a precedent that can be repeated just so players get their way. I could see it being a discussion point in the next CBA like @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! mentioned. To what length will the NFLPA go to do something to change this particular rule for the future? There are much bigger demands they are going to be after compared to retiring players wanting to finish their career where they want. Retire for a day and hold a press conference to retire with the team you played X years for is OK.

To allow an agent to force a potential roster change that affects both teams involved, that are playing against each other in week 17, with playoff implications on the line? Collusion? Strong arming ownership? I understand the desire to get a player that is retiring that you need and a player that seemlessly fits into the team/scheme but that is truly a rarity, rules aren't typically changed/made for edge cases. To allow an agent to hold teams hostage for a player to get their way is bad business in the long run.
