EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Doesn't look like the Chiefs are making the playoffs. If the Eagles dont make the playoffs, that would mean both SB teams from the previous year missed the playoffs. Wonder when was the last time that has happened.

2002 the Rams and Patriots missed the playoffs.

2003 the Bucs and Raiders were rancid.

2016 Denver and Carolina missed the playoffs.

Pre-nup.

Not sure what the QB draft class looks like for 2026 but it’s a logjam right now for the #1 overall pick:

NY Giants — drafted Dart first round 2025; he’s given them a spark.

Las Vegas — dire need at QB (but everything else too)

Tennessee — drafted Ward #1 overall. Don’t need QB (yet)

Cleveland — dire need at QB. Why the F isn’t Gabriel starting (not that he’s good)

New Orleans — Shough is good enough they should build their roster first, then draft QB

Washington — build a roster around Daniels that doesn’t gum their food

NY Jets — dire need at QB ….. but being the Jets they would pass on one

Arizona — dire need at QB

Probably going to be a race to the #1 spot between CLE, LVR, NYJ, and ARI

Losing the SB is brutal for a team. If you’re not going to win it, it’s best not to go. Completely disrupts recovery timeline for offseason surgeries, strength training.

Dynasties like KC and NE typically handle it better because they are used to the grind of the shorter offseason, getting there every year, and getting back. But for franchises that are on an emotional roller coaster to get to that rare SB, the dysphoria and disappointment with a quick return to square 1 seems to destroy teams.

Monday Morning Eagles-Chargers Week 14 Game Score Predictions Update - 18 hours until Monday Night Kickoff

24 predictions recorded evenly split with 12 for an Eagles win and 12 for a Chargers win.  The average predicted score continues to favor the Chargers at Eagles 21 Chargers 22.

I have again relied 100% on the @mattwill notifications this week. If you don't see your name in the list below, I either missed your prediction or you haven't submitted one yet.

At the risk of being repetitive, please tag your prediction post with @mattwill. That way I will be sure to see/record it.  Score predictions can also have an optional "Bonus Pick" tiebreaker prediction.  I will be taking predictions right up until Kickoff.

The list of the 24 predictions that are recorded is presented below, sorted high to low by Eagles points predicted.

CJ Stroud is terrible, but otherwise Houston looks legit. That defense is awesome.

If it ends up not being our year, I wouldn't mind seeing them win

Week 14 and the Eagles are down to the final stretch. After starting the season 8-2, the Birds hit a rough patch in November losing to both The Boys and The Bears. Well they are now 8-4 but still have a comfortable lead in the Division. They would lose ground and fall a game behind in the Conference race. Well now there is no turning back as the playoffs are in sight. The NFC Seeding is starting to take shape. The Eagles face the Chargers on Monday Night Football. That team has played pretty well this season. They are also 8-4. Herbert for the most part has been playing good and they have a strong defense.

The Eagles on the other hand had a month of Football scoring 21 points or less in 4 straight games. Luckily two of those games were wins against NFC contenders Packers and Lions. But the losses were a blown lead against The Boys and getting ran all over from the Bears. The Chargers lead the all time series 8-5. The Eagles have been playing the Chargers for over 50 years but they rarely see each other. The last Eagles win against the Chargers on the road was in 2017 during the Super Bowl LII year. The Eagles lost a close game years ago during Sirianni/Hurts 1st year. Justin Herbert is dealing with an injury to his non-throwing hand which he had surgery on. '

So we may be seeing backup Trey Lance at some point. Anyways there's no time to overanalyze what happen last month. They've got 5 games and it's off to the Playoff races. I think the Eagles Defense plays much better in this game. I also believe the running game with Saquon gets going. The passing game for the most part is working better but they need to get those points up. I know they haven't been scoring at a high clip the last month but I believe that finally changes today (Mostly due to the running game getting on track). Chargers are in the playoff chase so they will be playing hard but I just think the Eagles bounce back and get on track here. Birds win their 2nd game on Monday Night Football.

BIRDS - 31

BOLTS - 20

SAQUON - RUSH TD

AJ - TD

DEVONTA - TD

GOEDERT - TD

JAKE - FG

DEFENSE - MULTIPLE SACKS, INT, FUMBLE

Both those throws that were dropped by kelce were bad throws, both balls were behind the receiver and forced him to turn back across his momentum, if mahommes puts both those passes on the correct shoulder the probability of completion increases

Instead all we get from announcers as per usual is mahommes knob slobbering and blaming everyone else

It was hilarious when Mahomes threw the interception on 3rd down it was ok because it was basically a 42 yd punt...any other QB they would've said...terrible decision there, I don't know what he was thinking...

should've just threw that out of bounds...not the Golden Boy Mahomes mistakes are everyone else's mistakes.

To be fair, that was the year Westbrook’s wheels started falling off and our top wr was a rookie Jackson.

All true. That doesn't excuse McNabb's horrid play though. If Kolb hadn't completely crapped the bed against the Ravens (pretty much as bad as McNabb was that game), he likely would have been the starter the rest of that season. But he did, so they went back to McNabb on the short week against the Cardinals and the rest is history.

I had zero confidence going into that Thanksgiving game. I attended with a buddy of mine and we discussed how bad the score had to be for us to just jet out of there and get back to our families. I have zero confidence for tonight's game as well, but I am hopeful it could turn out well. But, this team, like that team, has really given us very little reason to actually believe they could.

@mattwill

30-17 Eagles

Bonus: first 3rd down of the game we actually get an NFL level play design.

Bonus bonus: we spend all week discussing a conspiracy that they added a shadow OC.

Ed Reed thought Kolb was amazing that game!

I probably shouldn’t be hopelessly optimistic about tonight. It’ll save me some stress on the ol’ ticker. Either way Go Birds.

Id feel a lot better about tonight with a healthy Jalen Carter. Without him, it alleviates the Chargers' biggest weakness.

It would be great if Jaelen Phillips could re-emerge. And maybe this mini-bye will help Nolan Smith too

Someone said that AJ Brown leads the team in penalties. Is that possible??!!!

Because of the fame of Sanders

Because of the fame of Sanders

He's played pretty well although his best game was yesterday against Tennessee who might be the worst team in football or maybe its the Jets or Raiders. Sanders looks more like an NFL QB. He throws a nice ball and is accurate. His problem is holding the ball too long and taking bad sacks. He's got a ways to go but I'd stick with him over Gabriel at this point. He might or might not play well the rest of the season but they won't be playing teams like the Raiders and Titans anymore but Stefanski will likely be gone and he'll have a new coach and new offense next year anyway.

Dillon Gabriel's issue is he is too small. If he were 6'3 or 6'4 he probably would have went alot earlier in the draft.
