EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

I just don't know how you can keep the head coach given they do nothing well on offense. Not a single thing.

"They won a Super Bowl last season" to me isn't a valid reason. If that's the argument rather than someone able to tell me one thing he does well as a head coach, then you're just using baseless platitudes.

I don’t disagree with you. I’ve said this would be a worse collapse than the 2023. Your roster is better. You have experience now with something like this so you should’ve learned from it. So far it clearly shows you haven’t. And this team, unlike that team doesn’t have a horrific defense. This team beats itself pretty consistently. the compounding mistakes with penalties, and just plain stupidity/low IQ is worse than 2023. In 2023 they lacked talent defensively and Imo eventually the offense began trying to overcompensate for that. (Play calling was also an issue then too… both rookie OCs that probably shouldn’t have been given the keys)). And it came collapsing down.

Legitimately I sat there last night with my friend and a couple eagles fans around me at the game, I said this team almost every drive has one mistake or one low IQ play. It’s almost routine. You can’t tell me these are uncharacteristic things when it’s the most consistent thing to do.

Good news. I got an email back from VABeach_Eagle, he is ok. He has been tending to his mother's health as she's been in the hospital, and exhausted lately. He says he will be more available to log on

Everyone knows it's true, but they won't do it no matter what. They're ready to ride this season into the ground on the backs of their egos.

Sirianni playing 4D chess with the offense. 😅 This vanilla offense changes flavors come playoff time. I say that half jokingly. But could be right still.

One of the few bright spots about this season

He started slowly this season (sort of like last year) and has really come on nicely as of late. They had so much pressure on Herbert all night. The shame is that they could have had about 12 or 15 sacks on him if they'd have been able to corral him more effectively.

As long as it’s not by a bunch of 4for4s…

Just don't say it three times in a row.

The very first thing Sirianni and Patullo need to do is scrap all 2nd and long runs. We must average 0 YPC on the year on those. Complete waste.

lmao

Adoree has been serviceable lately. Not good, but not a complete embarrassment either. He's been fine as CB2 in nickel.

serviceable, that's a compliment that the rest of the team should strive for in the hopes of reaching average by season's end.

baby steps.

I'm sorry, but switching OCs isn't going to cut it if this thing collapses. Look at it this way. If the Eagles fire Patullo, they are making him the scapegoat. If they hire a new OC like Daboll, that's essentially the Eagles saying "We are hiring Daboll to fix our offense."

But if you can't trust your own damn head coach to fix the offense, then what are we doing here? It's all so absurd.

Make no mistake that played into the calculus of not firing Patullo. He’s the offseasons sacrificial lamb. If you fire him mid season, then it all falls on Siri.

I really think Brian Daboll is the absolute perfect OC for the Eagles in 2026.

He has worked with Hurts. He has benched Hurts. He is the guy responsible for refining Josh Allen, a far more talented but similarly enigmatic and erratic passer, into his best passing seasons. He is familiar with the division.

He's a bit ballsy and impulsive...and this is a 1 year job anyway. Either he fails and we get a whole new coaching staff anyway or he hits it out of the park and he's interviewing for new jobs or taking Siri's job.

I don't think it matters who the OC is. As long as Jalen Hurts is the QB they're going to struggle going forward cuz teams now know his deficiencies.

Stack the line against the Run and force Jalen to beat you with his arm. He can't do it and he has proven enough this year but that's the fact. It's funny because Moore's offense last year he tried the first few weeks and Jalen failed miserably and they had to switch it on the by week back to a similar offense we run now.

This is exactly why in 2023 offseason I said do not resign Hurts, trade him for top $ and draft a quarterback. I still think we would win that Super Bowl last year with a different QB. Jalen did absolutely phenomenal in that Super Bowl but the whole year was on the back of the defense and Barkley.

Are we sure this wasn't a high ball to AJ but rather a pass to Smith?

Offense is a few tweaks away here from breaking through.

  1. Better 1st down calls. Learn to pass to set up the run. This is the down where you show your creativity in formations. 2nd and long for Hurts is not a winning recipe. Succumbing to simplistic runs on 1st down is utterly failing.

  2. More Tank already. Liked the different looks with 2 RBs. Mix it up. Keep the defenses heads on a swivel and not key in on Saquon that easily.

  3. More Goedert on screen plays and out routes.

  4. Less AJ Brown on go routes. He's lost a step and can't out jump peeps either anymore. More Devanta and Jahan on that front. Want to see him operate in the slot more.

  5. More hurry up in different sequences. Seems to work more than it doesn't and gets Jalen going.

  6. Lastly, need to do more read option as we get closer to the Playoffs and the fear of him getting hurt for season dwindles. Needa some reps there and out of practice. Hurts needs to be deemed a running threat. Don't need to necessarily run him that much. Herbert did great with that last night, with one functioning arm LOL and don't see him being that fast at all. But he's physical. As Jalen is as well.

LFG!

So did they seriously look at anyone and everyone who is available and say F it let's bring back Rivers?

You are sane and thinking correctly. Need to get raw emotion removed after losing 3 straight games and look at the whole picture. They are still a work in progress. I have seen Chiefs teams kind of look pretty mediocre on offense in 2 different championship seasons and still win it all as they turned it on at the right time. They are defending Superbowl Champions. Not over at all.

It's an inflatable bunny in the locker room to improve the vibes bad. Chiefs never were so out of answers they turned to that kind of stupidity. It's spiraling downward at this moment so yeah the season is over. People can hope and pray and wish up the Super Bowl star but Nick, KP, and Hurts are that damn bad together. It's going to take one or two of them being removed to possibly spark things.

I gotta wonder how long Vic is going to want to put up with this. I would be furious if my unit was consistently holding teams to 20 or less each game but still losing because the offense can't muster up more than 19. He's already 67 and this is the stuff that zaps the joy out of coaching.

Maybe Carlie Irsay just wants a date

Actually, I looked at the Elliott miss as a Hurts/Elliott miss in the same way lots of folks debate the AJ Brown/Hurts INT.

The Eagles got a HUGE break on the Adoree Jackson INT and another break with the personal foul penalty, setting them up at the Chargers 30-yard line with 10 seconds to play in the half. Hurts just glancing downfield and throwing the ball into the stands with 5 seconds left really pissed me off, especially when Elliott subsequently missed the 48-yard FG.

Should Elliott have made the FG? Of course, but Hurts and the offense didn't do him any favors by running a terrible play before he got sent out there.

The goal at this point is to just get healthy and turn Week 18 into a de facto bye by locking in the #3 seed the week before. Hopefully, wins against LV and WAS the next two weeks get it done because I have ZERO confidence we can win in BUF Week 17. That means we need the Cowboys to drop one of their next 3 games, otherwise we'll have to win Week 18 to salvage the division / playoff spot.

Then turn Hurts back into a running threat in the playoffs and hope for the best.

I thought about that when it first happened. We were sitting behind the play. I was wondering if a reporter asked him about that. That was the only INT i didn’t really blame him for. The others were on him. Especially the one into triple coverage. He was fortunate one INT got overturned. Gonna sound insane but i was actually shocked we were up 19-16 with how many mistakes and turnovers we had.
