Nagy, Cooter, Lombardi.

That's 3 experienced guys still out there

Engstrand is the most interesting of the guys left with NFL play calling experience.

That's your only concern?

that's EXACTLY what worries me. Nick needs to let the new OC do his job and STFU

If you ignore Kingsbury agreed

I wonder if Lurie is subconsciously drawn to Mannion since the last time he hired a QB coach from GB with no play calling experience it worked very well.

I seriously have no clue what's going on with him. Maybe the 2024 experience really soured the Eagles on him, but is he getting interviews elsewhere? I thought he was ticked to the Ravens, but haven't heard much about it lately.

Mannion seems to have promise but man that would be wild if they have the job to a dude who was a coach for like a year. Would be such an extreme pivot to what they were looking for. And would be an indicator that they got really desperate and tried to throw a dart at the next genius offensive mind before someone else snatched him up.

If Vic retiring is the news then Nick needs to be fired. There is no point to keeping him around. Hire KK and bring on a good DC.

It's like the draft. This is clearly a job that the coaches with the most options are NOT lining up for. With a 3rd round pick, the higher the floor, the less interesting they are. The more interesting they are, the riskier they become.

You can get people who have done the job before and logistically know how to do it...but are just underwhelming. Or you get can someone interesting with minimal experience who signs up for the rapid promotion.

They are going to have to pick one.

This offense is mostly a veteran offense. Don't see that meshing with another unproven play caller, like Mannion, who the players will probably question from Day 1. Like does this guy know what he's doing? Will have a very short probation period in this town. We are in a short Superbowl window currently. Need someone with some NFL experience as OC and winning pedigree along with high IQ to upgrade this current Mickey Mouse offense. Not someone Sirianni will have to babysit and start meddling with. Essentially, you need a head coach of the offense. That leaves no doubt of who's in charge. Can't see this offense doing even a 180 here in their offensive philosophy either. Also, haven't we learned from rookies like Johnson and Patullo that there's a nice learning process here for any rookie coordinator that we would get. He's a crapshoot at best. Maybe, there can be an advisor/consultant who can be added on here with that move if they're super sold on him.

The players may or may not question Mannion but Mannion at least had a six year NFL career as a backup QB . He only threw 110 passes. I looked up Patullo's college stats at USF and he played two years as a QB and threw all of 14 passes for 74 yards. Mannion has way more cred than Patullo. Mannion also has experience in training camp and preseason games. I don't know if that translates to a good playcaller. Nobody does. But his playing cred is way above Patullo's.

I've seen floating rumors that the Schefter thing could be Fangio retiring. Hoping that's just baseless speculation

Tbh I’d fangio was retiring i think they’d have made a bigger push to keep Parker from going to Dallas

Really great point

I don’t think the Schefter this is going to be anything. Other than like other staff being replaced as well. EJ Smith said today it’s not going to be Lane retiring, he was told Lane is going to take some time here to see where he’s at before officially deciding anything. He said he doesn’t think it’ll have anything to do with Stoutland or Fangio either.

It’ll probably just be the new OC brought in some new coaches. If Schefter had something big he’d report it.

Good for him

Beyond no play calling experience Mannion is 2 years removed from playing so I doubt he has an entire offensive system of his own designed. Seems very risky since we're expecting immediate results

Kellen Moore went right from playing to coaching. The Eagles probably want to reproduce Kellen Moore.

Off the wall, insane idea. Hire Mannion as OC, bring back Pederson as a consultant. Dougie P isn't getting another shot as a HC at this point.

Kingsbury is the least interesting.

Shaduer Sanders a Pro Bowler.

Bill Belichick not a Hall of Famer.

Jelly Roll a sports reporter. 2026 off to a great start.

Better than nothing, just hard to say how much any of that matters when it comes to OC. Eagles fans were saying the exact same thing about DeFilippo who didn't even last a year as OC in Minnesota and then lasted one more year as OC in Jacksonville before going to the USFL/XFL.

Yeah, I dont put a lot of stock into fans opinions of their QB coach or any assitant really. No one wanted to lose Brian Johnson after 2022 after how Hurts looked to have developed under him....then one year and a promotion later, we couln't wait to drive him out of town.

Conversely, Steichan and Reich have been our best OC hires in recent memory and neither was all that exciting of a hire at the time.

That's how you keep AJ Brown happy: ice cream!
