February 11Feb 11 There was Jalen extension talk and IMO that's a mistake. There is zero rush to do this.If he plays well in the new Mannion system, by all means extend him in the 2026 off-season. It means he can play under-center and likely throw better over the middleIf he doesn't play up to the level, then we can finally cut him for the first time without breaking the cap or trade him. The only player I'm rushing to extend is Jalen Carter, because the price of his extension only goes up.

Did you notice McLane’s tweet cited "NFL sources” on singleton and Moorehead? Not a huge fan but I do think he has better sources with the Birds than most of the Eagles beat reporters. So I think a lot of what is being report is speculation. What we do know is that they removed Patullo from his OC role and that the hired Mannion. That’s what they announced. The Grizzard signing was so quick after Mannion that I have to believe Mannion had little to do with it. The Mahaffery hire suggests likely Mannion influence. The Kuper hire could have as much to do with Stoutland retiring or leaving and Vic’s familiarity with him as Mannion’s brief interaction. There is the presumption that Micheal is gone. This presumption by the media that this is now Mannion’s offense and his hires has no validation in what has transpired during Nick’s period here. The hires look collaborative by the management team, Lurie, Howie, Nick and to some degree Vic and Mannion.I think there is a chance that Patullo resumes his role as sounding board/grounding for Nick. I believe the offense will envelope parts of Nick’s offense, bits they picked up along the way from past coordinators, like having a fullback (interestingly, that’s what the ground game coordinator played) from Moore. I think we will see pieces from what Mannion wants to do and pieces from Grizzard. But I believe this will continue to be a collaborative offensive approach. (I also don’t think McDaniel was ever in the running for OC because he doesn’t seem collaborative). You may be right but there’s the old saw: too many cooks.

February 11Feb 11 Ok Patullo is gone. That was my big one. Hard to judge position coaches but keeping a fired guy on staff would have been really bad
February 11Feb 11 If the Dolphins have a good passing attack next season and the Eagles passing game sucks, the bullseye goes strictly on Jalen Hurts going forward.

February 11Feb 11 I don't have a strong take on replacing Loeffler but I suspect that they went through the Rooney rule interview with the intention of hiring someone new likely Greg Olson but we'll see

Hurts and the offense performed very different under different OCs and Patullo must not have been much help in the role. But apart from that, this is a prove it year for everyone. If Mannion and Grizzard are the answer and the future, then any player including Hurts that isn't performing will be gone.
February 11Feb 11 They don't seem to fully commit to the FB. You had Latu, who was never utilized consistently (but who was?). BVS got injured and prior to that was used sparingly in that role with him being a converted LB. Khari Blasingame came in after BVS went down, but he was only a blocker.Would love to see a good camp battle between Latu and Steele. Latu is more a hybrid TE/FB and Steel is more RB/FB. Do they go with the extra blocking or running ability?Latu was originally drafted by the 49ers in the 3rd round, but got injured in preseason and put on IR. The 49ers waived him before the start of the regular season the next year. He could have a leg up having previously learned the Shanahan offense.

He had 12 TD receptions in his last two years at Alabama. That phrase "utilized consistently” rings true for me. Our offense had no coherence. It seemed to me that every play was called in a vacuum, that we had no use for things like tempo, packages, and counters.

February 11Feb 11 I'm not extending Hurts. No way. Re-structure his contract? I'd do that. I've said before, I think him and Siri get two more years. Then BIG changes will be made.
