They definitely need to draft someone to add to the mix.

And they obviously will, just depends when on how the board falls. What good does harping about it for another month accomplish?

On the fence about Grennard but in Vic i trust

Anyone concerned about Greenard’s lack of production last season and the fact he’ll be 29 at the start of the season? Unsure what his contract demands would be, but I am weary of those factors.

I've been thinking about the perspective here of the roster. I believe that the 2024 team changed our expectations. That team was a unicorn. Ten players from the 2024 team were in the NFL Top-100 last summer - Barkley (1), Hurts (19), Johnson (23), Baun (26), Brown (29), Carter (43), Mitchell (49), DeJean (60), Mailata (69), Sweat (95). Only Sweat is no longer with the team. That doesn't include DeVonta, Nolan, Dickerson, Jurgens, Goedert, and Hunt.

I understand that we are now two seasons removed from that team and the outlook for certain players has changed. It is also obvious that there are a handful of roster needs for the upcoming season. All that said, this is still a very, very talented roster there is no reason to be giving up on the season already.

So giving up on the season in the first week of free agency and before the draft is too woke for the blog????

To be fair, Sydney Brown gets reps at safety and has the exact same skillset.

Sydney Brown has the same exact skill set as a bayblade.

Stout was overrated. He's always had a ton of talent to work with, including Mailata who is insanely physically gifted.

So glad he's gone and not able to sabotage our offense anymore while dope fans glaze him nonstop.

Stout was a great coach. Deserves all the accolades imo. That said people sometimes act like there aren't other good coaches. Talented high picks and late round picks developed on other teams too and Stout has had misses as well.

Beyond that I think it's healthier for a new coach to not inherit someone who has so much organizational clout under them. Stout was upset that he wasn't listened to once. It was time

That is a staggeringly stupid thing to say.

Apply this to every other topic talked about here lol. I'm not "harping" I made one post, just noting that Edge is more of a worry than safety. I think they'll draft both, and I think they're not going to prioritize safety as much given the corners they have (understandably) so the focus will be Edge. Last week I actually said Edge isn't a huge "need" in free agency for the same reason you said, they have starters in Smith and Hunt and will sign and draft guys to add to the mix but a draft pick is the focus for the future, I got flamed for that by some.

Just feels like the worst timing, as we have to train up replacements at RT, RG for $ reasons, and possibly C and RG. This has implications for the next decade, while moving in the direction of OZ might only be a feature of 2026. Meanwhile I get that anyone coming in behind Stout is going to have impossible shoes fill, but we picked the guy who got let go by the Vikings <oof>. Maybe a brand new OC would've benefitted from a position coach who definitely knows what he's doing.

Stout is old and was probably not far from retiring. They desperately needed change at OC. They are choosing to go after the Shanahan/McVay style offense and it's understandable that Stout didn't want to invest in learning a new scheme (there was a good video breakdown of blocking schemes and the school that Stout comes from vs what they're changing to). Plus he was demoted from run game coordinator in season. He's older and experienced and accomplished, and understandably doesn't have the patience or enthusiasm to learn something new at this stage.

They had strong O lines before Stoutland, hired in 2013 by Chip Kelly (his greatest gift). Juan Castillo was a very good O line coach. There are other good O line coaches in the league (don't know about the new hire but we'll see). They had a history of strong O line before Stout, and hopefully will after. Howie will still prioritize drafting line, and they still have scouts that worked with Stoutland, assistant coaches, and they have a good group of veteran linemen to help mentor as well. If Dickerson retires, that could perhaps be a role for him as an assistant of some sort.

Im not very worried. Half of the equation for coaches to look good is talent. Good coaches can look bad without it. And vice versa.

We will have talent. Whether its the current guys getting healthy, or draft picks.

Maybe we dont have a dominant top 3 line in the NFL but many teams function just fine without having the dominant top 3 OL.

If they go from great to really good but the overall design of the offense is also improved immensely I think we see overall improvement this year.

We are always going to invest in OL talent. Howie signs high priced free agents when the need/opportunity is there. We rarely need to draft one in round 1 because of stout, but will when the need/opportunity is there. This year looks like it shouldnt be one of those years with this draft class. But theyll add, Im sure.

Lettuce not forget, people were so down on Kyle Hamilton's combine performance. Went form a generational prospect to... uh oh what the hell??

McNeil-Warren is big and ran a 4.50 and seems to be jumped by Theineman because of an incredible all around combine workout including the 4.3 40.

Warren is still going to be a dominant safety in the league, just like Hamilton. Plus, 4.50 is a very acceptable time at safety. Its not even bad. Everyone just hoped he was a freak so when he wasnt, the reaction was to drop him.

Hes still amazing.

Would rather have Epenesa without giving up draft assets than Grennard giving up a 3rd. However, with the signing of Ebiketie I doubt they sign Epenesa.

Hamilton ran a 4.59 and they had similar 10 yard splits. He has similar length to Hamilton. 4.5 speed is plenty fast as long as he understands the defense and what his role is in relation to the offensive play. That's the hardest part to project. I did like how he understood the routes in the red zone plays. He did a nice job getting just enough depth to break up one pass in the endzone. He is a solid tackler and forced a bunch of fumbles.

It may be Fangio's last year, but I do think it's a year to year thing. I don't think even he knows.

Hopefully he falls to 23 then. Just draft good players. The rest will work out.

Lol my new game is logging on here and counting how many posts til I see the word Greenard. It was two today!

I agree and I don't think Lane or Landon are necessarily going to retire either.

Why is Beck rated so low by the prognosticators. All he does is win games.

Beck reminds me of the Sanders debacle from last year. It’s his attitude, demeanor and total package view. The kid seems like he doesn’t give an ish about football. He’s essentially Alex Moran in BMS.
