I think Nagy would be a great hire.

Ok I don’t actually. Just wanted to see what it feels like to be a contrarian.

Give it a rest ESP

Big difference - Daboll called plays in Buffalo with Allen. Reid calls them plays in KC.

2017 according to wiki

When Childress was promoted to assistant head coach, Nagy became the lone offensive coordinator.[93] In December, with the Chiefs at 6–5 after a 5–0 start to the season, Reid ceded play-calling duties to Nagy.[95] Under Nagy, the Chiefs finished the regular season 4–1 and averaged 28.6 points during the stretch.[96] Kansas City's offense, which ranked 20th in 2016, was the fifth-best unit in 2017;

I’d add daboll got Josh Allen as a rookie who was super raw and completed 53% of his passes. By year three he helped Allen to improve that to 69%. Under daboll Allen still has had his best seasons in TD passes, completion percentage, passing yards, Qb rating and QBR.

Nagy got Mitch Trubisky to the playoffs at 12-4 and lost on a double doink 😀

Cooter stinks!

Yep...I could see the Amazon truck backing up to Novacare Complex on Monday/Tuesday after a bad game delivering a lot of this:

And Mitchell Trubisky was bad or mediocre afterwards. I’d add daboll got to the playoffs with Daniel jones and won a playoff game.

And I would argue, even though Steichen got a lot out of Daniel Jones that eventually he was gonna revert back to being a pumpkin

I know there was a lot of factors with the Chiefs, but that offense when he got there immediately started reverting. It doesn’t give me confidence that he had Patrick Mahomes, and that offense also felt like it was pulling teeth with that type of quarterback. Granted Andy Reid is part of that issue because he is the main architect.

Also goes back to what I said, if I’m hiring nagy or Arthur Smith, then I’m just hiring Charlie Weiss jr. And hoping he is the next big thing. Imo Nagy and Arthur smith are mediocre to below average coordinators that are recycled because of connections in the league.

I leave for an hour and we’re interviewing Nagy? He’s a this just a courtesy interview?

Was the Positivity Bunny not available to interview?

My list:

  1. Joe Brady

  2. Bobby Slowik

  3. Not sure

Last on my list is Jim Bob Cooter not Nagy. Cooter represents the Sirriani system. Nagy at least is different and would have autonomy with something to prove. That said I'm not a fan of Nagy in general and hope to do better but not Cooter or Schelhasse

Respect the commitment

That guy isn't committed, he's a lunatic, or possibly never gets a chance to use it so no big (or little) loss.

I'm not selling Nagy but had some good seasons there and was a better HC than Daboll. Again plenty of candidates I'd rather have but I don't think the career of he and Daboll is that different. Daboll actually had some pretty bad meh OC results outside of Josh Allen

What good seasons did their offense have with Naggy as OC?

Also both of their work as HC is completely irrelevant to me when that is not the position we are hiring for.

Shhhh let him do it

I mean, if Nagy is a serious consideration, then why not just interview Pederson?

Id go Weiss jr at 3 at that point. He has playcalling experience. It’s just not the NFL level. However, with how the NFL is, they’re incorporating stuff from college all the time anyways. So I’d much rather take the chance on the guy who has high upside and maybe a little bit of a lower floor than the guy who has a higher floor, but the ceiling is very limited because I think they’re mediocre hires.

I could agree with that if he's an actual option.

Different ranking Nagy vs Kafka. Just those 2.

Nagy hired Sean Desai as a DC in Chicago. That should be disqualifying.

Throwing out the wisdom today

We’ve missed on the top targets and the new HCs still have to jump through Rooney Rule hoops to hire so I suppose there’s no real rush at this point. Maybe they’re slow playing to see if Scheelhaase is willing to take an OC job if he doesn’t get the Cleveland job?

At what point do they look in the mirror and figure out something is wrong

Scheelhasse feels so overhyped to me

I’d probably go Kafka cause i think there’s more unknown. Tbh i watching the chiefs offense the last two years with mahomes doesn’t inspire me with Nagy. At least Kafka got shafted with bad talent with the giants and got dart to look good when healthy and Robinson emerged to be a solid WR option with Nabers’ getting hurt.

I’m telling you he’s not going to do coaching in the near future. Just what I was told by a couple of the Arizona coaches out here. I would love for him to be a quarterback coach. I think he’s very knowledgeable and he knows how to relate information. So I am guessing that he would be good as a QB coach and potentially OC. But I just don’t think it’s his time yet that he doesn’t want to be in that field.
