They know he’ll have a say in how things are run.

It's pretty clear they aren't working for Siriani. And I doubt many NFL coaches don't want the pressure of playing for a SB contender. They'd be coaching high school if they didn't want pressure.

I think the Eagles PR has been trying to get out in front of the narrative and saying that you’re gonna have total autonomy with this offense. I think people around the league aren’t buying their BS PR.I also think when you dive deeper into what the eagles’ offense could be in 2026, if AJ Brown is traded, Dallas goedert leaves in free agency and Lane Johnson retires that’s three massive pieces. So for a bunch of question marks right now it and tasked to fix the offense from what it was last year. if those guys are gone then it really lowers the ceiling of what the offense can be.

Which I actually don’t think Mike McCarthy is a bad hire depending on what team he’s going to. Like I think with the Raiders, it would actually make some sense. I think with the Cardinals, it could also make some sense. Especially if you’re drafting a young quarterback. I think while he is kind of an overrated coach, he can give you some stability. I think for the Steelers, it doesn’t make any sense because they’re a win now team. I don’t think he gets you over the top.
January 21Jan 21 I think Eagles coaching hires are like childbirth. You forget the pain so you do it again.Arthur Smith rejected us for TEN. Ben McAdoo rejected us for Giants. We hired Sean Desai ffs.More of these searches have been drawn out and discouraging at the time than you remember

Really how much autonomy will an OC have if they don’t get any of their own staff.

It worked out in their favor with a couple of them like Ben McAdoo. Doug Peterson worked out better than he did. Heck the one time I can remember they got the guy they really wanted was Chip
January 21Jan 21 Once the OC mees is figured out the most intriguing aspect of the offseason will be what their plan is to replace AJ. Obviously DeVonta will slide into that position of top WR, he basically already did this past season before AJ forced them to force him the ball. So really it is replacing DeVonta as the #2. Re-signing Dots9n makes sense but I think they will want to swing higher than that and I'm curious what that will be.

January 21Jan 21 If we’re not getting Brady, Weis Jr, or another big name, I’ve kinda circled back to Josh McCown at this point. I like the long term NFL QB archetype at OC. Lots of Doug and Frank Reich bias probably.Nagy Cooter would ruin our whole 2026 before it even gets off the ground

Everyone wants to make that some grand indictment of someone. It happens.Honestly IF McDaniel would rather work with Herbert and Daboll doesn't want to work for Nick then that just is what it is. You have to find a guy who wants to. And if that guy isn't successful then we deal with it then. Maybe that lesser name guy does great or maybe not. Everybody is just so dramatic right now

He makes a lot of sense. They are a defensive minded organization. He’s gonna allow that defense to continue to be very good. They have the talent and schematically with him. They’ll still be good on that side of the ball. They have Howard waiting in the wings at the quarterback. I think you go out and get an OC to work with Howard and reevaluate the position after 2026. If he stinks then see who’s available on the market. Never know when a QB might want out or is available.

Everybody is just so dramatic right nowI really only have two guys in this whole search that I want no parts of. The first one is nagy. I think he stinks. I think the only reason why he keeps getting job interviews is because of the connection he has in the league. I think if he didn’t have those connections that he would not be a candidate for any of these jobs. I think he’s probably fine if he’s a position coach, but I don’t want him as an OC. The other one I have an issue with is Arthur Smith. I think he is so overrated as a coordinator. The best times he’s ever had was when he had Derrick Henry just running wild and he’s never been able to replicate that as a head coach or as an OC.Everyone else I’m willing to give a chance on. Higher on some than others. Then again I’m also in the minority that thinks the Eagles are likely gonna take another step back in 2026. Cause i think aj is gone and so is goedert. Chance lane retired. I get the offense wasn’t very good in 2025 but taking away pieces might just make it harder to make this offense function next year even if you got a decent coordinator. I think there’s a chance that we get to the end of 2026 and the Eagles clean house except for Vic fangio and Jeff Stoutland. (I will say this after 2023. I said they’re gonna bring back Nick Sirianni, but they gotta bye week in week five. You can give the nfl input to when you want your bye week. Now the NFL doesn’t have to listen but usually they take that into consideration. I have a feeling that eagles asked for their bye week to be earlier in the season that year. Part of that being since they collapsed at the end of 2023 that if they started off miserably like 0-4 or 1-3 that they could make the change in coach early enough in the season to still try to salvage that season)
January 21Jan 21 So Mike McDaniel wouldn't even interview here, Daboll would prefer a terrible organization and junk roster like the Titans, and we interviewed Matt Nagy. Oh, and people are saying that Cooter and Kafka could be the front runners for the job. What an absolute FN nightmare.
January 21Jan 21 I think this early one is because he isn't going to be the guy and they want to get him through syste,
January 21Jan 21 Hopefully Brady interviews later this week now that he's finished his Bills interview.
