I like that he was a TE coach because it involves both passing and running concepts with TEs serving in line and as receivers. Watching the Bears, it felt like they played a completely different sport than us. I know he isn’t a carbon copy of Johnson and Payton, but I’m willing to take a chance based on what appears available to us at the moment.

Slowik still interests me a lot too

Now we have more than just Weiss Jr in that category and this guy has NFL experience.

I like it. Get a guy with some room to grow
January 22Jan 22 This OC search is starting to remind me of the head coach search where they hired Sirianni. They had some targets they wanted. Arthur Smith, Brandon Staley, think there was a couple others. Remember at the time when they didn't get either, they stepped back and kind of reassessed and reset the table with their candidates. And that's when you got Josh McDaniels out of nowhere and Nick Sirianni.Feels like if they can't get McDaniel or Daboll they aren't super enthused about any of the other candidates and are hoping someone wows them.Still hoping we hear an interview with Brady and Monken though. If they don't even talk to either that would be disconcerting.

If not then the only chance foe guys like Doyle, LaFleur in LA to get a chance at play calling is for their head coaches to turn it over to them or they get a HC position.

I think you'd have to wait for the dust to settle on Bills hire which could be a week or more. Monken did interview in Tampa but he doesn't seem like an actual OC candidate except for Harbaugh
January 22Jan 22 Part doesn't like it because he's never called plays beforeAnother part says F it.. if it ends disastrous then Nick is gone so that's a plus

Kingsbury didn't like how much Peters was involved when it came to the draft, the offensive system, the players he brought in etc. He disagreed with Quinn on how they should play Daniels and develop him. He also had falling outs with players when he was in Arizona.I'm not saying he can't come in and mesh well and he's some Chip Kelly like personality. But if he's coming in, you are going to have to give him what he wants. Nick would have to take the back seat, not Kliff. And that's if he can work with Howie who is absolutely heavily involved in everything. If the report is true and Kingsbury didn't come here in 2024 because it was over Stoutland, it doesn't seem like he's the easiest guy to work with.

He's 29 years old and has 3 years total experience in the NFL outside of being an assistant. I don't think you can hand him the keys to the offense which means Nick is back to being involved or were bringing in multiple guys to help out which could turn into another 2020.If it were up to me, I'd go with him over Cooter or Kafka or these other uninspiring names. I just don't think Lurie/Howie would.
January 22Jan 22 Berman said keep an eye out for Joe Brady if he doesn't get a head coach job. Also wonders if Kingsbury will enter back into the mix at some point.
January 22Jan 22 Another thing about this hiring cycle, is no one waiting for one of the playoffs coaches to drop as HC candidates? You'd think there would be some interest in the OCs who are making maye, darnold, and nix look good. Also irks me be cause every time the eagles have a good OC they get nabbed for a HC job, now there are 10 HC gigs and it doesnt sound like any of them are being talked about getting poached

He needs coaching because he's been getting by on athleticism and size but he has all the tools. Stoutland could turn him into a 10-year starter.in one season. Probably won't be there for us unless we move up.
January 22Jan 22 I feel like Doyle would be decent. Chicagos offense moves the ball well just to many turnovers from Caleb sometimes. Also he might be interested in keeping stout

They can't talk again from last weekend through next Monday if they are still in the playoffs. Klint Kubiak, Nate Scheelhaase, Chris Shula, Vance Joseph, Davis Webb, Mike LaFleur were all linked to HC jobs or possible OC jobs.
