My biggest question is why this seems to be so consistent regardless of the coaching regime too. What happened during the Chip Kelly era that made the perception so bad? I feel like with Andy we were growing into a highly respected franchise lauded for patience and stability as an FO, but since Chip left, we've been missing on strong candidates (on paper, we've found some diamonds in the rough) pretty much constantly? Why?

Just my opinion, but I think, right now, the biggest part of it is that they just don't like the limitations of our personnel on offense.

But the Eagles do have an unorthodox organizational dynamic. They absolutely do. AR ran the show and did so well, albeit without championship success. Chip came in and was an unprofessional failure. Then Howie built an overwhelmingly talented roster in 2017. And in 2022. And in 2024.

I think the Chip experience and the Howie experience really impacted Lurie's blueprint. There is no doubt that the GM runs this team. Most GM's have more say in personnel decisions and are involved in hiring coaches....but there is just no doubt that the GM is large and in charge here. They've won championships with goofy ho-hum coaches shepherding overwhelmingly talented rosters. Consequently, the owner (and GM) tend to view coaches as more expendable.

It helps that the NFC didn't have much competition until a few years ago

That's just objectively false. SF has been good the whole time. Rodgers was winning MVPs in Green Bay, and the Brees Saints were good. After 2020 it became more SF, LAR, and then Detroit. Hell, even Dallas has been consistently good and had the most talented roster of any team in 2023 with 9 pro bowlers.

The insatiable need of people to crap on this organization always amazes me.

That wasn't crapping on the team lol

AFC has been more of a slugfest than for awhile now

AFC has had the premium QBs over the last 4-5 years, but notably none of them have won anything other than Mahomes. We used to say it was Mahomes blocking them, but then Allen crapped his pants last weekend. It might just be Allen, Lamar and Burrow aren't quite what the media makes them out to be.

The last AFC team to win a title without Mahomes, Brady or Manning was the 2012 Ravens.

Hurts needs to up his manicure game.

The number of manicure jokes fell off a cliff once Ben came to town and they started stacking up wins. Caleb is showing he can play once he got someone that knew how to call an offense. Hurts would ball out too if we had Ben Johnson instead of Sirianni.

Titans tied to Kingsbury is interesting when the Eagles haven't been.

From a pure physical talent perspective, for sure. But that would be the case most places he would go to.

True

Ben Johnson made it look a little nicer

He transformed a team that was 31st in passing into a top-10 passing offense. A "little nicer" is quite the understatement.

Declan Doyle probably being interviewed as a target for future HC once they move on from Sirianni more than actually hiring him as OC right now.

the more I think about it, Doyle would be a good hire. Like you guys said he doesn't have that much experience so hopefully he wouldn't be a one - and - done.

I mean we've had what - 15 coordinators over the last few years ? would be nice to keep one once in a while.

Kingsbury already made it known before he wants Stoutland out if he is hired so I'm not surprised the Eagles aren't interested in him this go around.

I'm not in love with Kingsbury. I don't get the love for him.

He’s handsome and tall

Pederson in 2017 was a master class of play calling. You can say he had an overwhelmingly talented roster but it wasn't as talented as the 2024 Eagles. He had a near perfect offensive game plan aganst the Patriots in the Super Bowl. A year after Belichick made the Rams and McVay look inept, Pederson took him to the woodshed.

The 2017 Eagles team really had no business winning a Super Bowl. The skill positions were meh - Alshon, Torrey, Blount and Ajayi. Ertz and Celek were great. The whole team was carried by the lines - OL still has 3 studs even without JP, and the D line had prime Cox, BG and a very underrated Jernigan (Long was key as well). The secondary was meh - Darby and Mills at CB.

That team ran through an easy schedule and caught fire in the playoffs. You can say the NFC path was somewhat easy, but then they got the ultimate test in the Super Bowl and succeeded.

Piggy backing on my previous post, I think Nagy makes the most sense for this team. Having been in the game for a long time, he likely has a good list of position coaches and will work well with Stoutland. With his play calling experience, he will likely be able to react in real time unlike Patullo. The Eagles need competency, they dont need a gamble on someone who likely be in over their head with all the OC responsibilities. I know this place and Philly would have a meltdown but, among the choices, he clearly has an experience advantage and is a serious candidate.

Not the sexy name. But I wouldn't be surprised with this choice at all.

If they weren’t so eager to have him leave KC it would be easier to justify. But the players there seem very happy he’s being replaced

Yeesh - that's a pretty big red flag

Call Monken and give him an offer he can't refuse. Tell him whatever the Giants offer, you'll double it.

Is that the case? I haven't seen those reports. I figured it was because he had other career opportunities as a HC and a play calling OC.

Offseason from hell continues. Man 2026 has been rough

well crap
