If anyone hasn't heard former Chargers DC Jesse Minter to the Ravens for 5 years

So they are best buddies huh?

I think the scheme CAN be predictable. It has been even in successful years.

The issue is being situationally predictable. Down and distance tipped run or pass. Certain formations tipped run over 80% of the time.

The tendencies have to go back to be tendencies rather than certainties.

I think we would all prefer something new. And less predictable. But then, you have the QB issue.

I would prefer something new but I think Brady would focus on doing things that work. I am not sure how much of the predictability of the routes and scheme were on Hurts. If the coaching staff can't convince Hurts to change his approach, because they feel like they have no authority over him, then there needs to be a change. My sense is that Patullo was more or less a syncophant type players' coach. He was unwilling to push Hurts. It was a negative for the team.

Interesting, with Sirriani relationship you wonder if they interview him for OC

tbh he really needs to just get out of Cincinnati. That owner sucks. And he’s gonna wind up being stuck with a bad head coach too. Then again they’re gonna wind up trading him and somehow he’s gonna wind up on the Jets, which might even be worse.

Which is why I think he’d get jaded and retire. They’re gonna scratch and claw and fight with him for 2 years before trading him. He seems like an emotional guy

What in the midlife crisis is going on with the Buffalo Bills

Jumping straight to HC interview feels more like they're just doing him a solid

The Titans are interviewing Arthur Smith for OC.

ESP going into overdrive lately to try to get people to attack him.

Why does this guy hate his family so much

I thought Berman made a really good point, your 2025 offensive roster didn’t really need somebody who was super creative to uplift the offense. Definitely would’ve helped. Because of the talent they had they just needed somebody who was competent that could keep things on track and utilize the talent. In 2026 you might not have the same talent you might be worse off in terms of talent, so you might need somebody more creativity that can uplift the talent you have with scheming. So you might want to take the chance on somebody who’s got a high ceiling but a lower floor. Rather than go with somebody like nagy, who might be competent with a higher floor but lower ceiling.

So I think he's onto something here and I wish more people would think this way, even though I disagree that the team will be substantially less talented next year.

The OC will not make Cam or Landon be able to block. That problem will have to be solved other ways.

But with some very simple adjustments that Patullo and Nick apparently can't make, this offense can look functional again in a very short amount of time.

And you mentioned the AJ Brown angle. A competent OC just might be able to salvage AJ Browns 2026-2027 season.

For these reasons, and all of the unique circumstances you mentioned previously about the job, we don't need a total overhaul of a genius innovator to take over the offense. We just need competence and a good fit

Thought they already did but here

No they had requested to. Was wondering if/when it would happen. Will be interesting to see if they make a choice. You'd love for them to be blown away by a guy to the point where they make a decision

So who has interviewed vs who has been requested? I think I got it mixed up too

These delays give me hope they'll eventually get to Joe Brady and others.

My problem with Bobby Slowik is he seems to the Shanahan tree what Patullo is to Sirianni. Just a bunch of "pass game specialist,” "passing game coordinator,” etc. Vague titles, guy who "helps out.” When have you successfully led?

The problem with Bobby Slowik is his running game in Houston was atrocious and the Eagles need to be good on the ground to have success on offense as we've seen.

I loved slowik after 2023. He was my top candidate if they fired sirianni (whic i said they wouldn’t nor should they at that point). I still think he could be a good OC. I think what happened in the Texans is not all his fault. I think roster construction and that CJ Stroud might be more difficult to deal with and get through to is starting to become a parent.

Stroud's 1st year he was Houston OC and called plays.

And then it went badly which is why he's on the market

You have stoutland as the run game coordinator. I’m guessing he’d lean into stoutland. I’d add the Houston ground game hasn’t been consistently good in a while. Since 2020 they’ve finished 31, 32, 31, 28, 13 and 22.

The problem is the Bengals owner never trades guys when he should. It’s why Joe Burrow should’ve had an opt out in his contract. To be like I’m opting out and in that contract make it that if he opted out they can’t franchise them. I’m surprised his agent didn’t do that considering it is known that the Bengals owner will refuse to trade guys. You saw it with Carson Palmer. It took like half a season of him missing for them to finally trade him.

So he’s buddies with the Shanahan tree and was around when the #2 overall pick flashed and then nosedived right after. Got it.

Pass.
