January 24Jan 24 It’s worth noting they fired Stefanski three weeks ago. It could’ve gotten this out of the way.

Might be the greatest sports series ever if they just even get them to a Super Bowl. Which I could see happening.I think Deion would be the worst HC in the league to go along with Bronny at QB...So strong disagree.

Has been coordinator before and was OC for Frank Reich.Yeah he has some play calling experience and has some varied mentors. But still a lot of common background and not a ton of experience. Wouldn’t love it
January 24Jan 24 I would worry about too many cooks in the kitchen if they got Doyle and someone assistant to help with playcalling

Eagles fans notoriously treat opponents with ire and their own team with "Fire (insert name)!" Not every person out there is mentally a good fit for a job in Philly. Some probably already know this.If there's any coach who doesn’t take a job because of what a bunch of idiots with keyboards (myself included) say on the internet then they have no business coaching in the NFL. That's weak as hell
January 24Jan 24 One thing that came up on PHLY today is the OL questions going into next season. I’m an optimist in that regard. I believe whatever rest or operations they need will get these guys back on track. But it’s certainly no guarantee. And they’re in this weird position where OL is such a significant need that I almost wonder if they’re low key hoping one of those stud edge guys doesn’t fall to them in the draft so they can take an OL guilt free. Like if a guy like Bain fell in their range there’s almost no way they could pass on a player like that even though OL is the bigger need. But such is the byproduct of passing on OL early the last couple drafts to beef up the back 7.

January 24Jan 24 They’ve been successful not forcing a pick and keeping to BPA. If they hadn’t then you’d have a lot more needs and maybe one less ring
January 24Jan 24 Apparently some scouts believe Notre Dame RT Aamil Wagner is the best prospect at the shrine bowl. Here is a video. He looks athletic as heck out in space. But also looks extremely developmental. Supposedly 6'5'' with 34'' arms.

January 24Jan 24 Not hating on the idea of Nagy and a young buck. If they have success, Nagy is most likely a head coach candidate and young buck moves up. Plan for succession may pan out

January 24Jan 24 Nothing looks too amazing this free agency period. I would love Linderbaum but that's certainly not happening. Watch him go to the Giants too. I could see a TE like Kolar, won't break the bank and could be a solid #2.Maybe we take a 1 year shot on Alijah Vera-Tucker. Douglas drafted him. Suffers injury after injury it seems but is only 27 and has pro bowl traits. Worth a flier I think.

Maybe keep one or two internal guys and bargain shop after which is fine. Can’t add any high ticket external guys.

January 24Jan 24 13 hours ago, e-a-g-l-e-s eagles! said:No offense, there are bigger reasons why people wouldn’t want this job then fans. And I’ll give you a couple of them.First, you don’t know if AJ Brown’s gonna be back. He’s a top 10 wide receiver. That is a massive loss regardless of what anybody wants to say. Dallas goedert might not be back. Lane Johnson might not be back. He’s a future hall of famer. it’s three main pieces to your offense that could be gone. And I haven’t even mentioned who knows if the offensive line is gonna get back to where they were in 2024. There’s a chance you ran those guys into the ground and they just aren’t the same players anymore as they have a lot of wear and tear on them. So who’s gonna be here and who’s not gonna be here it’s a very vital part of taking a job. There’s a lot of question marks with the personnel on this team.Second, a lot of these offensive coordinators have to incorporate an offense and build it around. Jalen hurts a skill set. And this isn’t a slight to Jalen hurts. Mike McDaniel would have to change what he likes to do. His offense is based around anticipation and throwing over the middle of the field. That is not the strength of Jalen hurts. so you’re either going to hire a guy and let him run what he does and it doesn’t exactly fit the Qb’s strength.Third there’s a chance you’re not even back here in 2027. And this has nothing to do with the fans, this has to do with your owner nearly fired the head coach in 2023 and was thinking about it at the bye week in 2024. They won a Super Bowl, but you can clearly see that the offense has been an issue for two years outside of a historic running game and you really can go to the bye week in 2023 that they have been inconsistent. So there’s a chance that you didn’t do anything wrong and you maximize the talent that you do have considering who could be lost and yet you still lose your job because they just clean house.Fourth, you’re not getting total autonomy of your offense. Because you have to work with the coaches that the Eagles want you to. They’re not firing Jeff Stoutland. And I wouldn’t either. But for some coaches, they want to bring in their own guys that they trust. That they have built relationships with. That they have worked with. So when the Eagles say it’s total autonomy it’s really not. And I have a hard time believing anybody who gets hired when they look at the track record with the Eagles that these guys don’t have total autonomy. I said this before this feels like a narrative, the eagles try to get ahead of, and nobody’s buying their BS about it.Then you can come with the fan base and the city. All four of those things are far more important to me if I’m an OC with HC aspirations than the fans. Imo I would put lifestyle and geographical location of where I get to work over the fan base. Think about this you got a giant winter storm coming and hitting the East Coast, out here in Arizona It’s gonna be 70° today. For some people that is a massive difference for them and their families.Your 1st and 3rd points apply to every team. I agree with the 2nd point for the most part, but either the QB has to adapt or the new OC does ... or some meeting in the middle needs to occur. Stoutland has been here through Chip Kelly, Doug Pederson, and Sirianni. I think he's capable of working in different offensive schemes. Now that you've listed potential cons, let's talk about the potential pros. We've seen 3 coordinators get HC jobs under Sirianni. Why? Because we win a lot of games. Two of those hires were OCs that managed to do enough with this offense to impress needy teams. Any OC that comes here understands he's not bringing his own staff here. That person is basically betting on himself that he's good enough to make a difference and prove himself for a future HC opening. Having a good defense is also a huge plus as it removes some of the pressure. I guarantee that if the offense puts up stats similar to 2022 or 2024 and we win 12-13 games and make a respectable postseason run, our OC will get several interview requests for all the HC openings at the end of next year. All someone really needs to do is figure out how to avoid so many 3 and outs. IF Lane, Landon, and Cam all come back healthy next season, we'll still have a top 5 OL. Since trading AJ is counterproductive contractually, perhaps a new OC can excite him. If for some reason that's impossible and we ship him out, there's no doubt in my mind that someone like Dotson could be a productive WR2 beside Smith. I'd love to see us get more than 2 WRs involved. Shedding a big name might open the door for that. We'll have spots to fill if some of our guys move on, but we have the draft and free agency to do those things --- and an aggressive GM that isn't afraid to add talent.

Probably not but it’s a factor that weighs into a decision. There are probably many factors. In any case it doesn’t help except for local guys like Fangio
January 24Jan 24 I’m curious if McDaniel’s meeting with the Eagles satisfies the Rooney rule. The backtracking and reframing of the meeting maybe leads to some gray area. Kafka’s interview reportedly meets the criteria. If McDaniel’s visit doesn’t count, that means we still have to interview one more minority candidate. Could the Eagles be holding out for Scheelhaase?

There’s far more things that OCs are considering than the fan base. I don’t even think that’s in the top 5 of things that they are considering when they go to a team or the Eagles.
