So, trying to digest this, I've come to the following conclusion -- I like the bold approach we're taking here. I feel like when they hired Nick, Howie/Lurie really committed to going young on the staff, particularly on offense. Nick is the first HC to be younger than Howie, and his first staff in 2021 had Steichen (35) and Gannon (37) along with Nick (39). They did an about face by going to Vic on defense after the Desai debacle (39 when hired), but obviously there was a comfort level and it has worked out fantastically. But on offense, we've heard over and over again that Lurie wants to be innovative, and that means young.

Mannion is green, but the Packers (team, fans, beat reporters) seem to be livid about losing him. His work with Willis was impressive, as well as Clements hand picking him as successor as QB coach. Bringing in Grizzard as PGC adds a safety net to a degree, but the most important thing is they have no connection to the Sirianni offense. Patullo and Parks Frazier - time to file for unemployment.

Will it work? I'm cautiously optimistic. But I prefer this to going with JBC or, God help us, Nagy. This is trying to be great.

If it doesn't work they have a guy as the PC who can take over. Two young/intelligent minds with a system that has no ties to Nick's that sucks. If they couldn't get one of the top names this was one of the best options vs old and boring

OK - I just don't want a bunch of bandwagon blamers jumping on after the first game of the season.

You know damn well that fans will lose their minds the first quarter of the first game if they're not scoring 24 points immediately.

Every year they start slow, especially with new coaching staff, and have to get into rhythm. Last year they never found it and were a mess. But in 2024 when they won the SB, everyone complained in the first few weeks as well.

How does that guy still have a damn job? He must be really desperate to go that crazy

They would have never won if we had not started complaining.

I do often wonder if some of these miserable Fs in here realize they're miserable, or if they think normal people are just obnoxiously optimistic.

I'm typically optimistic with all things regarding eagles. Just not with Hurts.

You sir, are a future Philadelphia Eagle

Id re-sign Bigsby. If these guys can scheme up screens, Shipley will be awesome there. We dont need an RB. BUT one I would roll dice on to compete with Shipley is Jaydn Ott. He has Jamaal Charles speed if healthy. Tiny crease, hes gone.

A healthy OL and adding TEs that can block will have a significant impact on next season's offense.

Vic is a great DC. But adding Q, Coop, CJGJ, Baun, and Hunt in 2024 alone would have made the defense better than the 2023 version.

Interesting hires. This remains Siriani’s offense and will be collaborative (a strength pointed out forMannion). I said the other day that this is Nick’s offense and they were looking for an OC with creativity. Mannion was the guy with the headphones and clipboard and sitting in 9 QB rooms. That accounts for some level of training. Folks talking about,Love and Willis are misguided. Different role. That said, word is he related well with the players. Thing I like about the hire is he sees things from a QBs eyes.

Like that they went a different direction with PGC. Wonder if Moorehead is replaced by Parks Frasier or Patullo.

I wonder if they pulled Stout away from running game duties (which he always shared with Singleton) last year so he could focus on Kendall, Williams, Hinton, Lampkin, Pierce and Majors (and probably Toth and to some degree Latu and Granson). Williams projected as a Day 2 player if he had stayed at UT last year. Frankly, this year, I wonder if Kendall could take Jurgens place if his back isn’t back to where it was. The OL was beat by the end of last year (and the Brotherly Shove doesn’t help that).

Losing Wilson (blocking WR) and Stoll/Uzomah inline blocking didn’t help the run game. Also note that Saquon laid back on the prep last year (plus lots of commercials). Just that month to recover and less stardom will help. This offense needs two TEs that can block (and hopefully catch too. Note that I think FB has a role in the offense. (Love that Max Bredeson is #152 on Fran Duffy’s draft board and that the Eagles have the 152nd pick). Right before the season the Eagles lost their big blocking WR and their FB. As a lead blocker, Latu kind of sucked.

BTW, liked the Kasper promotion.

Bigsby is signed for 2026 on his rookie contract.

I don't think this plan was decided on without Sirianni being part of it. I think if it was, they would have fired him instead. It's likely that all three of them were involved in my opinion, and they came up with the concept together.

Have said this before, some people think Sirianni is arrogant when it comes to his internal team behavior because of his external team behavior, but it always seemed to me like he was uniquely willing to hand jobs to other people and let them do their job. I actually think he's probably too laissez-faire sometimes, which led to what happened with Patullo this year. There are few coaches in the league this would work with.

Agreed, that's why I'm not overly concerned about too many cooks in the kitchen. Now if they bring in Nagy or someone similar, I think that's where you may start to see issues.

I hope not. Outs are definitely not the easiest route to throw, especially to the long side of the field, if you don't have some real juice in your arm.

Maybe Cade Otton become a target in FA? Experience with Grizzard. Can block.

Let's say we go to the SB next season with a more dynamic offense. Mannion gets hired as the new HC in Cincy.

Does promoting Gizzard to OC fall into the category of another internal hire doomed for failure?

But seriously - if there was a terrorist attack on the city and someone dropped a bomb on Lincoln Financial Field and they canceled the season, do you think it would be Hurts' fault or Sirianni's fault that they didn't play. I'm in the boat that the terrorists dropped the bomb because Jalen bails out of a clean pocket too much and doesn't throw to the middle of the field, personally.

I mean, it was clearly Big Dom's fault and he should probably be demoted.

I was completely shocked to learn near midseason that the Eagles offensive coaches were not meeting in collaboration when it came to scheming and play calling. It was left to some nitwit and even Sirianni kept his hands off. That is just stunning to me. There was a podcast with Greg Cosell around the same time that described the weekly process that he had a chance to witness...obviously from another team. Each offensive coach carried a responsibility for a different part oif the offense. Each was tasked on a weekly basis to film study and analysis breakdown in preparation for the game planning meeting...it is there where all the schemes and plays, including the scripted plays, are laid out based on everyone's feedback. Everyone has ownership over all elements. That is how it should be done, and that is what I expect going forward.

I like the combo of the two guys and they are young and somewhat inexperienced so I don't expect either to bring big egos or be set in their ways. I also like to hear that Mannion has one of those photographic memories, such a skill is so important for sequencing plays in real time.

As long as they avoid the Jags, Hawks, and Texans in the opener, we have a chance.

I'm excited, but I need to temper said excitement.

This new Offense will take some time to develop.

Please, let's all have some patience.

These hires make me feel like our SB window is not closing. Just yet. 🦅🦅

One of the things Lurie needs to come to terms with is the reason this OC hire is so important is because his head coach is clueless and if Mannion turns out to be the second coming, he has to stay even if it means Sirianni leaving. I get you can't fire a coach if your team wins a Super Bowl that season, but short of that as an outcome next season, if Mannion totally transforms Hurts and this offense, Sirianni can go in favor of Mannion or whatever other coach they have in mind. They can't keep going through this thing with the offense every year and I think this process told you that coaching behind a dude who is believed to be a down season away from being canned will always be a roadblock in attracting coaches.

If they nail the QB coach and RGC hires, I’ll officially be back on the bus.

I'd think most assistant coaches are probably staying, besides Parks Frazier maybe. I have a hard time seeing what type of staff Mannion could build or would want given how green he is. I suppose it's possible Howie/Lurie shake things up but I would guess the majority of the staff stays the same.

Mannion can take a lot of staff with him including Grizzard in his next job if he succeeds this year and becomes a head coach. That would be a selling point in any job interview for him I'm sure. It would be Grizzard's call in a sense. Eagles can always block that, but rarely do. So poaching after winning can still raid this whole staff. And we could be right back at square one. We are year by year here right now regardless of pipeline.

The flipping the switch in playoffs was a shared delusion.

I think loeffler is still qb coach.

Now the only question I have about that is was Scott in charge of red zone last year? If so you can't let him go or you gotta promote him to run game coordinator because whoever schemed red zone last year did a good job they just didn't get into the red zone enough.
