I forget what site it was projected Goedert to only get 6m per season on the open market. If that's his market the Eagles should absolutely bring him back. Somehow I doubt it though. I think some team will pay him more. But either way I'd expect finding their new future TE to be a big focus this season. And finding backups who can block other than TEs who can't block(and also can't receive ironically!)

Spotrac but they are generally awful with that open market feature

So, this is a result of the TV deals that were redone in 2021. They basically put a bunch of benefit into the 2021 cap to offset the COVID impact, and then smoothed the rest over the life of the deals. They have also added the Netflix deal for Christmas, Youtube Sunday Ticket and a few other revenue enhancers. The current deals run through 2033, but the league can (and will) opt out after 2029. That's why a lot of our contracts with massive dead money (most notably Hurts) hit in 2029 and after (Hurts could be extended to punt that as well). Howie plays that game extremely well.

The reason for the massive increases in TV rights isn't solely related to the NFL or its product - it's more a function of TV viewing habits. Sports, and sports entertainment (WWE), are the only remaining programs on TV that consumers watch love. This makes the commercials infinitely more valuable as they are somewhat DVR proof. We were invested in WWE back in the day on this thesis and made a killing when it redid its TV deals. You're seeing NBA and MLB also benefit, but the NFL remains king.

So what you're saying is that we are 3 more Bad Bunny half time shows away from bankruptcy. Noted!

A lot of that is due to COVID though and the adjustments they did to account for the revenue shortfall, but that's besides your point.

So the cap in 2020 was ~$198 million, and it should have dropped below $170 million in 2021 had the NFL not intervened. They front loaded some of the new TV deal to get it to $182.5mm in 2021. So the cap was basically flat from 2020 to 2022, meaning the doubling was really over 7 years, not 5.

The NFL: "How can we get more flags in a game? 🤔"

Next they will have sponsorship for the flags.

Wow Doyle goes to Baltimore

lol he rejected the Eagles, but took the Ravens job. Lurie really needs to evaluate his franchise this offseason.

Is the tush push dead? Both GB and TB voted to ban it. I doubt Mannions and Grizzards had any input, but if Sirianni is really turning the offense over, will we still see that in the playbook?

Many teams were using some forms of tush push. Not just at the goal line, also on short-yardage downs. Our guys have not been as successful running it this past season. We slipped a bit and others gained. May get more supports to keep the plays.

well, I guess he did tell us to eff off.

Kraft is basically Kittle 2.0. He’s a monster.

So what round is he going in?

Tucker Kraft.

3rd round in the 2026 fantasy football draft

Berman said there was momentum heading towards Doyle so I don't know if he withdrew because he wasn't being considered for the job. We'll never really know though.

It’s a better job.

I thought he was talking about the TE he liked last night from Stanford or some place

Defensive coach who isn't in jeopardy of being fired in a year.

It really isn't. They may consider it so, but they'd be wrong. And at that point the Ravens weren't in the mix anyway. I think it's more of a case of not wanting the Eagles at the time.

Oh well though, if Mannion sucks and Doyle is great they can just hire Doyle as head coach in a year.

Yep as HE and I agree sometimes guys don't want your job and you have to move on. It happens all the time.

Yup. With a MVP at QB.

Not that we’ve shown any interest in Engstrand, but he seems like an obvious dot to connect to the Bears OC job.

fwiw the guys the eagles liked more than Sirriani & Pederson mostly all failed so not getting your top candidate isn't always a bad thing
