Looks like Schefter had the intel after all. Vic retiring now would be completely devastating. Howie couldn't have had this worked out behind the scenes to keep Parker in house with the DC job all but guaranteed for next year? Just pay him coordinator money now, have him do more with Vic.

Dallas defense only going up from here, Giants will get better. We will be sliding down back into the pack. We have a down year and it's rebuild next year after we could've been dynasty mode. Why is this not surprising.

What's going to make it worse is when Parker starts to bring in former Eagles players to run his defense. If I see Nakobe Dean with the green dot in Dallas next year, that's going to be one tough pill to swallow.

If true, dick move by Fangio. Either commit or retire right after the season with notice so they can promote Parker. Now he goes to Dallas.

Wasted a year of a great defense and Fangio on hiring Patullo, with a better OC they would be in the SB again and probably repeat. Smh

You’ll only see him play maybe half a season before he inevitably gets injured. And if it’s passing downs, go right after him. Problem solved

Love Vic but they need a long-term DC who won't be a revolving door. That is Jim even with his flaws.

I don't feel like sifting through 5 pages. Can someone tell me if he is retiring or not? Thanks in advance.

Yes. He will be retiring. Which year is hard to say.

So this year is he still coming back or is that up in the air too? Or is this in reference to after this upcoming season is complete? Thanks.

I mean, he’s 67 years old. The eagles should be having some sort of future thinking on it. This isn’t like it came out of left field. There were rumors apparently that he might retire after they won the Super Bowl. So if that’s the case, the eagles were not blindsided by this potentially happening. Issue is more in a year from now you are back in this position and don’t exactly use a great option like you could now with Schwartz (if Cleveland lets him go… imo i think he forces that hand)

Vic is probably coaching for 2026. (87% chance, maybe?)

Vic thought about retiring after 2024 and he thought more about retiring this time.

The current vibe is that he will not coach in 2027.

More likely here in 2026. But even that isn’t definitive

Thanks guys.

We really need to be careful what we wish for here. Let's not act like Campbell doesn't get hurt. The whole reason he dropped in the draft was because of injuries. The jury is still out on him too. There's no guarantee that he comes in and lights it up. He flashed as a rookie, but he also was replaced by a guy who supposedly can't cover and was coming off a devastating knee injury.

Nakobe Dean and Jihaad Campbell are completely different players. Dean is cerebral. Dean is a leader of men. Dean plays behind the LOS. None of those things describe Campbell. What Campbell is, is a good player in space. He brings length and athleticism that Dean doesn't have, but he doesn't bring the rest. None of this is a knock on Campbell, it's just showing that Dean is an Alpha. He commands a team and I think every player respects him and listens to him. I want that on the team. They don't have that on defense if Dean leaves.

Reminds me a lot of when Jordan Hicks was a FA. So many said, he can walk, he's always hurt only to see him go start 4 straight seasons without missing a game before age started to get him.

Baun is gone after next year. I don't want to start looking for LB again. They have exactly what they need for this defense already. Just need to bring him back.

Jim is still out there, right? Vic needs to freaking decide.

Jim is not free. He is still under contract with Cleveland.

They screwed him in this process so he does not want to be there.

Yeah, that will be tough for the 11 games he plays in.

Maybe the name we should be looking at is Clint Hurtt. He was the HC for the National team (still think it's so dumb they changed from North/South). He interviewed for the Dolphins DC position. He has DC experience. Just a thought.

We are so fuct if Fangio decides to retire and losing Parker is even worse now since it appears Fangio will coach for one more year at most.

Schwartz had a top Dline with us. We just didn't have a secondary because Howie's bad philosophy. He's changed and we have talent

Just posted about seeing this sort of post. People were saying the same thing when Jordan Hicks walked. He missed 15 games with the Eagles and immediately went on to start 66 straight games. This isn't a Stewart Bradley situation.

We are going on multiple years of Nakobe being unable to stay healthy. The last three years he has missed 12 games and the playoffs, 2 games and the playoffs, and 7 games. He is 225 soaking wet and plays like a heat seeking missile. Counting on him to all of a sudden be a durable guy who can be counted in for 17 games and a playoff run is massively foolish.

Just because Hicks stayed healthy for awhile after leaving the Eagles doesn't mean Dean will too. None of us know.

Doesn't Dallas have some young LBs? I dont know as I dont keep up with their roster? I know they have that Overshown guy who's pretty good.

He's 225 in a compact body. Sam Mills and London Fletcher were exactly the same. 225 for him is not the same as 225 on a 6-2 guy.

The games he missed this year I'm giving him a pass for. He pulled a hamstring after not playing most of the season and said he could have come back in to the game if he had to but the Eagles decided to rest him based on their record and control of the NFCE. A soft tissue injury while coming back from a major injury isn't concerning to me.

He might miss more games, but his impact on the field is drastic. He changes the way the Eagles defense performs. He makes them a better team.

I like Nakobe a lot but man is he overrated by some people. He can't stay healthy at all and isn't exactly good in coverage. The Georgia guys seem to really look up to him as the leader of their group so he will be missed in that regard. However, I saw enough from Campbell in year one to be confident that he will be an upgrade to Nakobe. You also don't draft a LB in the first round and then turn around and pay decent money to a vet guy and block him. I hope Nakobe goes onto have a great and long career but it's not going to be here and it shouldn't be.

Complete unknown, but I'm not letting that be the deciding factor. Nakobe Dean makes the Eagles a better team. The defense couldn't stop the run without him on the field and then was transformed when he was back. His impact on this team is huge.

Any assistants out there you have your eye on for Eagles positions for offensive staff? I thought Frank Smith and Jerrod Johnson could be but they appear to be out. Of the guys they interviewed twice, Cooter doesn't appear to be a target unless the Colts let him out of his contract because it wouldn't be a promotion.

I wonder if Darrell Bevell could be an option.
