Packers are another team who are having a ton of turnover on their coaching staff.

I tend to agree with solak. We saw with Schwartz having OK corners and sometimes less than ideal corners be able to run his defense. saw in 2018 he was able to maximize a defense with a bunch of injuries by the time the playoffs came around. He can do more with less and he was going to have more here in 2026 unless we had a rash of injuries. To me the issue with Gannon besides the fact that he was a complete dbag in the way that he left, is he has yet to show as a DC or HC he can get more from less. The issue is going to be you’re gonna eventually lose some guys as you can’t keep everybody on this defense. So if god forbid Fangio retired, want a DC that gets more from less and preferably one with experience.

I don't think they would go for Schwartz. They have been chasing the Fangio defense with Gannon, Desai and then Fangio. I think they would stick with it with someone from his tree that is currently on the staff, like Clint Hurtt.

I want nothing to do with Leprechaun Midget Sean McDummit. Jack hole of a person/Coach.

If the Offense stinks again next season, Nick is fired first. Stout is fired second, and whomever the WR Coach is, he's fired third.

🫣😊

McDermott isn’t taking a DC job unless he gets boxed out of a HC job next offseason.

Yup. I see him getting a HC job next year. Potential job openings are commanders, cowboys, jets, Vikings, bengals, lions, bucs, Indy and eagles. I have a hard time believing he won’t get a HC next offseason.

Don't be shocked if the name Sean McDermott is brought up if Vic retires. Was DC In Philly after Jim Johnson for a year.

And was awful

We really need to be careful what we wish for here. Let's not act like Campbell doesn't get hurt. The whole reason he dropped in the draft was because of injuries. The jury is still out on him too. There's no guarantee that he comes in and lights it up. He flashed as a rookie, but he also was replaced by a guy who supposedly can't cover and was coming off a devastating knee injury.

Nakobe Dean and Jihaad Campbell are completely different players. Dean is cerebral. Dean is a leader of men. Dean plays behind the LOS. None of those things describe Campbell. What Campbell is, is a good player in space. He brings length and athleticism that Dean doesn't have, but he doesn't bring the rest. None of this is a knock on Campbell, it's just showing that Dean is an Alpha. He commands a team and I think every player respects him and listens to him. I want that on the team. They don't have that on defense if Dean leaves.

Reminds me a lot of when Jordan Hicks was a FA. So many said, he can walk, he's always hurt only to see him go start 4 straight seasons without missing a game before age started to get him.

Baun is gone after next year. I don't want to start looking for LB again. They have exactly what they need for this defense already. Just need to bring him back.

I believe trotter jr is going to be ready to fill that void.

There's no way they bring McDermott here, he's had zero success with a top 3 QB and his defenses (which he's supposed to be good at) are the primary reason for it. He's an awful HC with a track record of being awful

Clint Hurtt is a long time Fangio disciple and has DC experience. I suspect he may be the Fangio in waiting guy.

I thought he got plucked or was at least getting interviews for DC positions?

McD was JJ’s protege…was way too green and not ready when he had to step up. Became a sacrificial lamb sort of in the spiral that was Andy’s last few years here which led to the Castillo fiasco. Earned his stripes in the years following. He would be a great DC here.

His defenses are the reason Josh allen hasn't been to a super bowl

Bills FO is the reason they haven’t been to a SB. Outside of a year or 2 they’ve been lacking talent.

I know we hate Gannon for the 2022 superbowl, but he's Vic's best understudy. Mcdermott took a lot of seasoning before he was widely respected on defense.

If Vic is retiring within a year for sure anyway, I would have wished him well and gotten Gannon in here for the long haul while that was still an option.

Interviewed with Dolphins but they just hired someone else

Gannon, as well as Desai. They stunk bad enough that I say no.

McDermott now, that was a long time ago and he got the DC job here still as a youngster. Im sure he could do a better job now with all of his experience. And may do a better job with the defense as a coordinator than as a HC.

But Id much prefer to stick with our personnel which means no to Jim Shortz.

Though it would be so intriguing to see Campbell-SLB, Baun-MIKE, Dean-WILL

Jaelan Phillips and Jalyx Hunt wide 9

We would need another DE with DE size. Nolan Smith isnt going to cut it.

Hurts remains a bit of a slow processor but that is probably impacted by how late, the Birds were on getting the play to him. Mannion will probably be faster and allow for more presnap reads (if Hurts can utilize). By that, I mean that Hurts rarely throws before the receiver is in position. But I think a lot of that tracks to Nick’s main offensive philosophy, protect the ball.

Hurts cannot throw over the middle is a trope uttered herein with regularity. But is it true? One only has to put on OU film of Hurts throwing to Lamb to understand that is not true. But statistically, the worst place for interceptions is the short middle. I am sure Howie’s analytics team has supported Nick on that. Add in a 6’1” QB with a particularly tall OL and the blindness in the short middle is amplified. Also that area throws have more batted passes. Most success in that area is with larger targets, TEs. So the lack of passes in that area are as much a factor from Nick’s offensive philosophy as Hurts’ limitations.

I am not saying Hurts is blameless but more points towards Patullo (for whom Imhave held a negative bias for some time), Parks Frazier (both replaced) and to some degree Moorehead, who has not developed a WR yet.

Part of it was the condition of the OL and Barkley, no doubt. Part is on Dotson’s serious case of fast receiver syndrome. (A WR that has only speed as a separation tool isn’t long for the NFL. More on that later.). Part is the lack of blocking from the TEs, the loss of Wilson and the FB plans. But the biggest issue was the awful playcalling this season.

Now given how the current team uses the media, are they calling Hurts out a bit with these leaks? Quite possible. Sometimes the attitude needs some adjustment. But it is fixable.

Interviewed but not plucked at this point. And I hate to say it but some,of,those interviews were to satisfy the Rooney rule.

Schwartz had a top Dline with us. We just didn't have a secondary because Howie's bad philosophy. He's changed and we have talent

Jim has had a lot of poor secondary play when he's been a D-Cord, it's not his strength historically by any means.

The defense consistently craps itself in the playoffs. And they've had some good defenses.

33 32 27 27 42 38

Those are the points allowed in their last 6 playoff losses.

24.7ppg in the playoffs going back to 2020, and 33.1 ppg in elimination games. During the regular season those defenses were all in the top half of the league in PPG. Fortunately their offense averages 28.8ppg in those playoffs, unfortunately only 27.1 in elimination games where they generally need to score over 30. The only loss they've had in the past 6 years where the offense did not score over 24 points was 2022 to Cinci.

They've never had a defense as talented as this one, but they've definitely had enough talent to win a super bowl with that offense if they didn't absolutely collapse in every elimination game

Where did I say they were gonna bring him in here and he was going to be our HC? I listed all the possible places that could have a job opening next offseason and said hard time seeing him not getting a HC job and settling on being a DC which i was responding too. I’d be pretty surprised if he didn’t get one in the 2027 offseason. I’d also be surprised if it were the eagles based off lurie’s philosophy in hiring HCs since Ray Rhodes

You don’t even need to actually play in games to make the Pro Bowl anymore
