Lol what a clickbaity title, "unthinkable". Douglas was so obviously a victim of scheme mismatch here since he immediately was successful after he left. Is he an all pro? No but became a very solid corner. Wouldn't mind if he wanted a cheap deal but Jackson wasn't all that bad the last half of the season.

Reed was awful in the 49ers game, slipped a bunch and when he wasnt slipping he was taking horrible angles and he left mccaffrey alone on the trick play. Finding his replacement is a bigger priority

Like to sign Adoree as the 4th CB and be a top backup. Need some proven veteran depth this time around. Ringo & Bennett not it. Douglas shouldn't be a fortune. Agree on Reed. Gonna have to be more budget friendly safeties next year. Epps, Makuba, M.Carter and a new guy can battle it out.

Safety is a big concern. Reed had a bad year and before Mukuba got hurt it was an inconsistent mixed bag of some big plays and some really bad plays. They also have zero depth right now. Howie really has his work cut out for him this off-season and a ton of holes to fill which makes it all the more silly for people to be banging the drum to bring back Nakobe. I probably look like a Nakobe hater at this point but I am far from it, you just can't keep everyone and even without him LB is one of the better and deeper positions on the team.

Yeah, I think it’s like less than 1% chance he comes back. I’ll never say never cause i didn’t see the eagles going after Barkley in FA or drafting a LB in the first either.

Tend to think safety they sign a veteran then middle round pick as well. I think they do the same at second corner but probably use a higher pick than at safety

Already have that in Nick

Carter will save like 8-10 mil if we cut him. He’s as good as gone

They currently have legit needs at CB2, starting S, edge rusher, TE1 and 2, possibly two WR's after Smitty, and RG/OL depth. It's actually pretty scary when you see all of the needs listed out like that.

I usually agree with you but if we go into next season with Epps, Mukuba, Carter, and a "new guy" at S we are so fuct. I thought Epps would be a nice addition to the team, but he is nowhere the same player he was when he left here, Mukuba has a lot to prove, and Carter had every opportunity to get on the field after we traded for him and couldn't.

Yeah. He would come back restructured for much cheaper.

Yup. could argue RT depending on what happens with Lane and his retirement decision. I’m guessing some of the depth is going to happen in FA. I kind of think Phillips likely leaves, Dean is gone and goedert as well. I’d be surprised if we didn’t sign a veteran safety, veteran corner and a veteran TE. I’d say veteran wr depending on what happens with Brown. I tend to think he’s gone at some point. Still think 4 of the first 5 picks is going to OL, CB, WR, edge rusher and TE. I’d be surprised if it were anything besides that unless someone just unexpectedly falls

The new guy has to be solid. I don't have a name. Maybe CJGJ for his 3rd tour. Every other year he comes back and we go to the Superbowl. Lol. But I know that probably ain't happening. I just think we aren't gonna be spending much at safety. I am saving money for Phillips, Davis and Carter contracts on the outset. Filling holes with cheap labor from there on the defensive side.

I’d point out the eagles apparently went after Justin Reid last offseason at safety. He said he nearly signed here. I really wouldn’t be entirely shocked if they went after one of the top safeties in FA

Even if Lane plays one more season I’d like to see OT. I’m assuming Fano, Proctor, and the Samoan are likely gone in the top 20, but if Caleb Lomu is still there he’d be an intriguing pick — even if it means Mailata to RT if necessary.

I'm okay with that. But then I think Phillips isn't happening. Not sure we can pull both moves off. All for real upgrades at safety, as it's a weakness.

I tend to think there’s a higher chance they go OT first two rounds than a OG. I kind of think they might try to find a guard that stoutland feels he can fix or hep improve in FA like they did with Becton.

I like Phillips but i see him as the odd man out. I think they’d like to keep him, but I think he is going to get paid more than they want. Also if you sign him, then you likely aren’t signing both hunt and Smith down the road. Imo feels like they try to bank on getting comp pick back for him signing elsewhere

I am signing Hunt and letting Nolan play out his 5 year contract here. And we can see what happens from there. See if he even is healthy. No commitment til then, if at all. If we can have Philllips, Hunt and Smith for at least a 2 year window here that interests me. We gotta get back to strong lines with legit depth, when given the chance. Can buy time and develop young guys in meantime.

I view it more this way with Phillips, he is this close to free agency. He’s healthy going into free agency. So he is going at test the market. I’d be surprised if he signed before free agency. Frankly the eagles would have to match FA market value for me to see him doing it. I think in free agency someone is going to offer him more than what the eagles are willing to pay him. Imo if he is back, it likely means that Smith is likely gone at some point. I kind of think hunt is the better investment than smith as he’s still developing and he is already very good. Also has less durability concerns than Smith.

How many coaches do you think get replaced? I’m guessing Stoutland and Singleton stay and the WR and TE and QB coach get replaced. Loeffler might get saved since he was a recent hire. Not sure what system he’s familiar with tho. You’d want a McVay background guy

Honestly, no one besides Parks Frazier. Moorehead has been around since Doug. Jason Michael has been here since Nick started. Loeffler they got out of College and I can see them wanting to stick with continuity. Mannion is so inexperienced I can’t see what guys he would want to bring that make any sense.

Eagles operate in half measures. Not saying it’s bad or good but it’s usually what they do.

I think it will have to be on a slight hometown discount for JP before he gets to free agency. Kinda like Baun last year. That dude probably cost himself a few million signing before free agency, but he flat out wanted to stay here. Let's hope that's the case with JP. He was used to losing with the Dolphins. And he likes Fangio (hopefully stays). I think he caught the bug here of winning and being in the playoffs possibly every year. On this line, he also can feast and not get double teamed as much and have an easier life.

I think Baun was a different circumstance. Baun had never had success anywhere else and also didn’t have the amount of injuries that Phillips has had. I think playing here made baun into what he was and he also knew he’d be maximized to his best here. Also think part of Baun felt a debt of gratitude for fangio/eagles giving him a shot. Imo dean’s injury kind of helped in that situation as well as they weren’t paying both and decided to go baun going forward over injured Dean. This could be Philips last big payday, considering his injury past. That’s why I think he is going to test free agency to see what’s even out there for him. His circumstances differ than baun outside of getting to play on a winning team. Also kind of think baun likely got close to what he was gonna get in free agency and eagles badly want him back. Not sure Phillips they feel he is as important as Baun was even though he plays a more valuable position in their philosophy

Thinking $17M per year for him. 3 or 4 year deal in free agency. Howie may offer him $15M before free agency and see if he bites. It will come down to how bad he wants to be here.

If downs makes it in the 10-15 range. Trade up and get him

I’d think 17-18 mil per. But it’s FA and we’ve seen teams with ridiculous amount of cap pay more than they should.

I like Downs, but I have a hard time seeing the Eagles move up for a safety. Granted they were trying to move up for Campbell last year and he’s a linebacker. I didn’t think I’d ever think they would ever do that. I just don’t think safety is a spot they would move up for. If they’re gonna move up from 23 then Imo it’s either gonna be an offensive lineman, a pass rusher or a wide receiver falls that they really like.

The injury concerns may keep that tame. Let's hope. I like the guy. He fits here. And still young.
