And when he plays he always acts like he's doing you a favor fighting through some injury with a built in excuse. And oh yeah he's also a turnover machine in the clutch beyond that.Yep. They never will do it but if this is the opportunity to set the franchise up for the future and get out of that contract. I'm not sure what you could get for him, but whatever it is it would help the kids. I don't get why they can't see it or foolishly think he will stay healthy like you said because he won't. Right before the playoffs he'll get some "minor" injury that will linger and they get bounced in round two.

The problem with the goal of proving discrimination is that proving it is exponentially harder than being discriminated against. Once upon a time certain races were looked down upon for the majority of white collar work. That's no longer the case, thankfully. However if you just 'let things shake out' the whole time, wouldn't have ever gotten here.I think the problem is more that fatigue is an issue. People are naturally contrarian in highly individualist countries, so you can only go so far before people get annoyed. Put differently, achieving truly equal opportunity in countries where it is encouraged to think primarily about yourself isn't really a feasible goal. We'll probably always be a little behind in this regard, it's just a psychology problem.Proving discrimination is hard, but that's the way it goes. We can't just assume it without evidence. The odds of it existing here is low, given every team is incentivized monetarily and for a variety of reasons to win as much as they can. If there isn't discrimination among athletes, why would there be among coaches? Teams want to win, it directly impacts their bottom line. Teams favor offensive coaches, for whatever reason there seems to be more black coaches on the defensive side of the ball. Why? No idea, it's just one of those things. But the solution will be worse than the problem. Given you can't force teams to hire specific candidates, you can't do anything about this other than infringing on the rights of teams and owners. Forcing them to interview candidates they don't want to is bad enough. We've seen a similar "problem" in schools where certain gifted programs had a very high rate of white and Asian students and school leadership believed not enough black and Latino students, so their "solution" ended up being to just eliminate the programs altogether and just make everyone dumber. Tell aspiring black coaches to focus more on the offensive side of the ball when it comes to coaching because it'll benefit their future coaching prospects. Other than that, there's nothing you can really do without having negative impacts on fairness.

Some professions are dominated by women, some dominated by men, some largely black(like NFL and NBA players) some largely white, some largely Asian, etc. Unless discrimination can be proven, this should not be a concern. Not everything needs equal representation. Sometimes you gotta just let things shake out the way they do. The solution ends up being worse than the "problem" because you can't force teams to hire guys they don't want to hire unless you start trying to artificially force diversity which always ends up in disaster. Time for the NFL to just take the L on this one and stop obsessing about ethnicity.I think the Rooney Rule serves a purpose. It helps overcome implicit bias and social barriers that prevent opportunities for coaches. It's also not a binary choice of diversity or meritocracy. More often unqualified and underperforming coaches get repeated opportunities because of social ties. Matt Nagy getting hired isn't about his long list of accomplishments. The same can be said for Greg Roman. Patullo wasn't some savant in wating. The reality is the Patullo got his job by being buddy buddy with Sirianni. I don't think the Rooney Rule solves this issue which is part of the underlying problem.

Because he seemed to be kinda bad.I've never seen Harbaugh as a great head coach. I think in BAL he was a function of the solid management structure around him with Ozzie Newsome, then DeCosta to a lesser extent. He's also a CEO head coach who needs strong coordinators around him. Joe Schoen has a lot to learn to become a good GM and -- you're right -- Harbaugh being hired probably means he'll be out sooner than he can learn.

It seemed like Gardner was the default starter in camp before Trotter played light years better. Then there was the whole issue of not re-signing him after 2 Pro Bowl seasons when he was 24 years old. Do you think Trotter gets run over by Deshaun Foster the way Simoneau did. Of course, the bigger issue was Pinkston and the lack of a real WR. F, Banner and Reid for those idiotic roster decisions.

Dump him on someone and build with it.
February 3Feb 3 The new Bruno Mars song might be the best I've ever heard. It's on par with Billie Jean, by Michael Jackson. Or any song by Seether.
February 3Feb 3 Feel bad for Embiid, etc. But if there's any way to get out of that contact and Paul George's, I am doing that ASAP. Trade them for any useful parts or picks you can get so you can grow core of Maxey, VJ, McCain and Barlow. These old beat up vets will be breaking down soon.
February 3Feb 3 You aren't getting out of the contract. The only way a team would trade for Embiid is giving you another awful contract in return. Keeping him and crossing your fingers is the only thing that make sense.
February 3Feb 3 If the Eagles end up signing Phillips to a bigger contract than Sweat do you think it would've been better if they just signed Sweat last year? Sweat played really well for the Cardinals. 12 sacks.

Keeping him here would be a wise move. If the team did not even make him an offer, it could only be the available cap to spread around. Playing well for NE is no surprise and his team makes it to SB. Will be watching him in SB game this Sunday.

Was understandable at the time to let him get paid elsewhere. I think they thought they'd be paying Nolan Smith and now that seems unlikely this year so do you pay Phillips instead?

Sweat played really well for the Cardinals. 12 sacks. That would be hindsight.People forget that a lot of fans wanted Sweat gone heading into the 2024 season. When there were reports they were looking to trade either Reddick or Sweat, many people said trade Sweat because Reddick was such a good pass rusher. They said Sweat had injury problems and regressed. Sweat in 2023 season had 6.5 sacks (Jalyx Hunt had 6.5 sacks this year and the pass rush was not great this year). In 2024 the team had 41 sacks, this year the team had 42. In 2024 Sweat had 8 sacks, then none in the first 3 playoff games, then 2.5 in the Super Bowl. Sweat wanted to get paid, and they had Nolan Smith and Jalyx Hunt as young replacements with Fangio coaching them up. It made sense at the time to not overpay for Sweat. They realized later that they needed more pass rush help, partly because Nolan Smith was out with injury. Phillips filled in nicely, and BG gave some help as well.I don't know if this is a good Edge draft class, but would like to see another one drafted, especially if they don't re-sign Phillips (who I'd be glad for them to re-sign).
