Jason Kelce tows the company line so hard he makes Dave Spadaro blush.

Jason Kelce wants to be Stout’s heir apparent,

Thats still pretty bad that by wild card weekend Hurts still needs a translator and wastes time getting to the line to refer to it. He had all year to learn some terminology that they practice nearly every single day for months and months.

Are you honestly insinuating that Hurts is the only QB in the league using a wristband playsheet for the whole season?

Curious how it looks on the field with the sun. That glass? Just thinking of the birdshit droppings lol

Glad they have included the Greek and Roman columns the Trump admin demanded to show "classical" architecture. Now they just need an arch at the main entrance and a few Trump statues around the stadium to really class it up.

He thinks Hurts is stupid, intellectually inept. He is pretty clear on this point.

Nope

Was it the building he wanted? I don't remember. I just remember he had demands

Looked like KP called whatever he did. Nick looked at Jalen and said something like you good with that. Then went back to the huddle.

KP might have called the play but when Jalen gets to the line and sees something with the defense, why couldn't he change the play? Or just change one of the WR routes.

Asked and answered. You have a timeout, you have all the coaches meeting and the coaches who are in charge decided the play. I don't lip read and I don't recall seeing Nick say anything to Jalen. Sure, Jalen could speak up. So could Nick. We've seen other shots of Jalen frustrated with Patullo all season. At some point if you've voiced things you get tired and give up if the coaches are going to call things the same anyway. We don't know what goes on in meetings and practice, how much Jalen or others spoke up with ideas. The Hard Knocks final episode showed Jalen telling Nick at practice that they need to be aggressive. Jalen has made public comments in interviews about not wanting to be so conservative. If he says that in the media, it's safe to assume he voices his opinion in practice and meetings and on game day. He's also the son of a coach and often talks about executing what is called. He does change plays and call audibles. But with the season on the line, and they just had a meeting on the sidelines, he followed his leaders.

Put the responsibility on the coaches who called the play and designed that scheme.

Retractable roof? I’m a little more amenable to that than I used to be, maybe influenced by this season. Seemed half our games this year were bad weather games, got old after a while. Still like the option though.

Personally, that looked like less 'agree', and more like 'I'm not involved here'.

Which, if I'm being fair, is just as bad. But it kind of makes me wonder what the hell happened. Early Sirianni was very edgy, that is pretty toothless, especially with a struggling OC. Sirianni wasn't a good play caller, but he wasn't 'run 4 verts into cover 4 after you've already seen them check into cover 4' bad.

This is going to sound very bad, but I don't really want to take the time to make it better, kind of feels like he's been """emasculated""" or something. Did he just lose all his confidence in 2024 when it came to schematics? I've smelled confidence issues for a bit, but if it's that bad, while I don't think he should be outright fired for it, he should consider stepping down. I remember they said at first he was extremely reluctant to give up playcalling in 2021, what happened to where at the most important time of the season, he refuses to pick it up? I get that people get into grooves but...

I dunno. Can't do that as a head coach in the NFL. I think you absolutely can't put that specific thing on Jalen.

There's a conspiracy theorist spin there possibly: they knew Patullo was garbage and not changing, they didn't have hopes and they let Patullo hang himself with his own rope.

I do think the pressure of being a HC can get to guys and when things aren't going well it brings everyone down. Nick also promoted his friend and felt responsible. I'm sure the players complain in meetings and practice. Nick saw this coming. But that's part of the job, heavy is the head that wears the crown.

I don't think it's retractable. They keep calling it a fully translucent roof or dome.

Classical architecture was the demand, which is Greek and Roman architecture.

They moved up the press conference to 1:30. Odd. OC interviews they need to get to?

The Eagles were oddly really stealthy about last year's OC search. I don't even think any interviews were reported last year. They went super dark and then one day Patullo was announced. None of their interviews leaked. SOme speculated that meant they only interviewed internal candidates to satisfy the Rooney Rule. But we don't know is the point. I wonder if they can do that this season without word getting out. Somehow I doubt it.

I think that was mostly because they were late to the search

I think part of it was because it was a sham search. Patullo was always the guy.

I’m trying to remember how the search went with Fangio. Who did we interview?

I believe we saw Hurts reading something from his wrist band before lining up super late so I dont think we can place too much blame on the coaches for getting a play in late.

lol Of course not.

Patullo was really a victim of circumstance in all this. The fact we were historically late to get plays in on time this season compared to previous seasons was just a weird coincidence.

I remember they interviewed Ron RIvera and I hated it

I found out about the Patullo hire in the prep room of a medical facility in the middle of drinking contrast before an MRI. The contrast is gross and tastes awful and I was already feeling queasy and then I got the notification on my phone about Patullo and almost threw up all the contrast I drank.

He's basically ESP. Be a contrarian to stand out for attention. Say outlandish things for engagement

KP might have called the play but when Jalen gets to the line and sees something with the defense, why couldn't he change the play? Or just change one of the WR routes.

Changing the play at the line is more complex than that. It's not like in Madden where you have a different menu of plays to choose from based on formation. The most common way you change a play at the LOS is by calling two plays in the huddle and then "killing" the original play call and checking to the backup play. It's usually a 1 for 1 match in formation or at least a minor shift, which is done in this manner for brevity/efficiency since seconds are precious and even a single player getting confused could result in a delay of game or burning a timeout.

Changing routes are similar in that they have to be part of the play design that the QB calls out as an alert to only certain receivers. That means the receiver and route alert are pre-defined. The thought that QBs have full autonomy and capability within an offensive system to call out any routes for any WRs is a common misconception. JT O'Sullivan has some good videos on YouTube that goes into depth on checks and adjustments at the line.

Yeah there are likely scheduling things. Don't read into moving press conference times as something dramatic. You have other meetings to rearrange, it happens all the time in business.
