February 5Feb 5 I think it's a little unrealistic to believe the Eagles can just swap out coaches as they see fit without any repurcussions. If they wanted to try and keep everything together they would have hired a less assuming veteran type of OC. The fact that they took a risk on a younger OC just shows that they're willing to shake it up.Clearly the offense sucked a bag of Ds last season and Stout was here, AJ was here, they ran it back with the 2024 team and failed.Change is inevitable and maybe it will work and maybe it won't.A topic for another day would be to analyze the Owner/GM/HC/QB combinations around the league. The Eagles are probably right up there with the best in the league and that's what matters the most.

We have to utilize our WRs much more and the blocking scheme has to change with offensive philosophy. McCaffery is great in the system and I have no doubt Saquon and Tank will be too. Don't understand all the clenched panties in here. We wanted change, we wanted a more dynamic and diverse offense and it is on the way. I'm psyched to see what happens. If we suck again, so be it, but I am hopeful today that we will have a fun offense again.A bunch of teams without Stoutland have OLs that our vaunted Fangio defense cant penetrate. Teams without not only our OL coach, but also without our amazing OL personnel. There is life beyond Stoutland. The most important thing is actually having talent in place. Everyone was down on Stout all year because he didnt turn a bunch of 7th round/UDFA OTs in to immediate starters. But the all pro talent he was given sure has looked good all these years. Its Howie season. He needs to have one of his great offseasons.

February 5Feb 5 I’m excited to watch something new tbh. It feels like it was time. Stout was awesome and was a huge part of two rings. Last year was a decline before Sirriani stepped in. Understand Stout losing energy but sometimes change is ok.

February 5Feb 5 Well it's like this. If all of this change is necessary to implement the Shanahan offense, then Lurie and Howie better be right. That's what I'll say. Mannion needs to be a legit stud coordinator, the offense needs to work and Hurts needs to be able to run it, they better not have protection and run blocking issues next season, and the offense better be significantly improved and look a lot different. If not, Lurie and Howie look really bad. If it doesn't go well, could be potentially a franchise altering failure. And it would be very fair to question Lurie's leadership going forward if this blows up in their face. It would make him look clueless.
February 5Feb 5 Also if Stout was upset that the OC designed run plays without him then that shows what the OC candidates were up against and why some wanted their own guy. It’s hard to do your own thing when such a dominating presence as Stout is controlling the run game

You've got an OC and LG who are getting paid like the pro-bowlers they once were...but may have career altering injuries. You have an offense completely built to rely on those 3 positions performing at an all-pro level. Now that Patullo is gone, the single biggest finger is being pointed at the OL as the reason the offense sucked.Stout just may not think he has the horses to put together the kind of OL performance everyone expects from a Jeff Stoutland OL.Same reason OC candidates were looking at an OL that has personnel in flux, a QB that doesnt run anymore but doesn't throw that well, and a WR1 that wants out. Amidst all this, there's some embedded insistence that this mess that peaked 1-3 years ago is actually the most talented offense in the NFL.There's a personnel problem. It's not necessarily that everyone just hates each other and there's all this drama.Meh. We’ve had good to great offensive lines dating back to Andy Reid era. I am not worried about our ability to draft a field an oline. Stout retiring is more of a new system they want to run that he has no idea or the will power to learn and tech. That’s fine. He’s older, gave us great years. Time to find a new coach. What’s interesting to me is that Siri had no issues working with patullo to develop new ideas with the run game, removing stout. BUT he refused to remove KP.
February 5Feb 5 I think all of this will actually expedite and facilitate their next SB bounce-back.This offense needs to be purged. They won a SB with a heavily flawed offensive concept that was both unsustainable and unrepeatable. And, for obvious reasons, it takes years to pivot off SB winning coaches, players, and schemes. It was going to be a slow, agonizing descent into pivoting off that. This team has some older coaches that sense the regression and compensatory change in direction and just weren't up for that (especially after having already been to the top of the mountain). But Hurts, Barkley, AJ Brown, Goedert, Lane...even Zach Baun (29) on defense...their timeline is no longer compatible with the runway to get this plane back off the ground.

February 5Feb 5 I'm just happy for Stout. 13 years. 2 rings. 3 HOFamers. Future Eagles ring of honor. He gets to go out on his terms. We didn't have to fire a legend too late because he's past his prime.

Far from what Stoutland has done all these years, but needed to fit the ability level of his OL.Can we blame him if that is what happened? Im sure plenty of people will. Even though they already blamed him for not doing anything to make the offense better.

We also "know" that Siri got more involved with the offense and looked over Patullo's shoulder more later in the year.Bottom line is the offense sucked, they all knew it and were frustrated by it, and there was a shuffling of responsibilities to try to get it right. I have no doubt that tempers, egos, and disagreements were involved. But exactly how much Siri favored Patullo over Stoutland is somewhat unknowable from our vantage point.
February 5Feb 5 Vic stopping the bleeding after a turnover even in the offseason. Poor guy must think it never ends.
February 5Feb 5 why do I get the feeling if this thing implodes that next off-season everybody is gone and Stoutland might wind up coming back into his role as OL coach?

Down year because the OC was dog crap. That's on Nick not him and who the hell are they going to get now that we trust to develop the line the way he does. This is a huge and honestly devastating loss. Especially, with Lane retiring. This is turning into a nightmare because of one clown.
