SOmething someone should dig into...

Jalen Hurts has built a reputation as a very low INT QB. The skeptic can say that his INT's better be low because of his passing style/volume, but the fact remains he's amongst the best in the NFL at not throwing to the other team. What's interesting, however, is that when he DOES throw INT's, it just feels like they come in bunches. Over the last 3 years:

9-25-2023: 2 INT vs TB

10-15-2023: 3 INT vs NYJ

12-18-2023: 2 INT vs SEA

9-6-2024: 2INT vs GB

12-8-2025: 4 INT vs. Chargers

And note that 2023 was, by nearly 3x, his most INT-prone season.

Was 2023 just a bad year for him (INT wise)? These 5 games, are they just his 5 worst games over 3 years where he struggled to control the ball? Remove fault and allegiances in the debate from this, I obviously acknowledge any qb has their 5 most INT-prone games and most int-prone season.

My point is that (going off subjective memory from 2023 and these 5 games) is that the Eagles were doing something differently in these games. I think the INT explosion was a result of a different offensive approach, different play calls, testing the waters with different routes and concepts. I do not think these games are randomly the result of Hurts just having his share of terrible games.

If someone were to go back and review the all-22, tabulate the routes, targets, plays for those 5 games, I think they'd see an offense that was fundamentally different from what we have seen for the vast majority of 2024 and 2025.

It’s encouraging that the names are surfacing this early regardless of who they are. Shows they are attacking it

Harbaugh and Monken for the Giants is a nice haul.

Are they not going to bring Orr along as the DC as well?

I just saw Monken so far

We've discussed it a bunch, but the OL was a whole new level of bad. Can argue the health, but regardless. They were bad.

It was the health for the o-line theres no arguing that. Bad luck and it sucks it happened, but they were legitimately playing hurt. I still think Landon should've been held out the first portion of the season, unsure how many games but that was a mistake playing him.

Steen is just not that good especially in the run game. Combine that with the other three lineman mostly hurt all year and this is what we get.

Then with Siri & Patullo leading the way offensively and it's really bad. Maybe it's better off this happened so the offense can be completely overhauled from a schematic and play calling standpoint and there's no hiding anything.

In 2023, Hurts threw for a career high 3858 yards and a career high 15 INT. By far the highest attempts and attempts per game of his career. This is with Brian Johnson as OC and Siri almost certainly quite involved.

And in 2024, they started the same way for 3 weeks. 34 attempts per game and 4INT through 3 weeks. This is with Moore as OC and variable involvement from Siri. It looked like the same offense. We remember 3-4 weeks into the 2024 season quite well. Sitting at .500 and everyone quite disgruntled. And then they pulled the plug on the passing game and ran with historic success. Dropped down to 22 attempts per game for the rest of the regular season with ONE INT. That inflection point in the offense changed things forever. That dictated what KP and Siri did this year.

I would contend that Hurts is turning the ball over and not handling the passing game well when they try to open up the offense, which is resulting in this yo-yo effect backing coaches into these overly conservative corners. But it's beyond blaming it on Hurts. Howie (and Siri and the new OC) need to study these paradigm shifts they've repeatedly had over the years to understand what fits and what doesn't.

In 2023, Brian Johnson really tried to run the same offense as 2022 to build off that success. It failed.

In 2024, Moore started with his blueprint for the first 1/4 of the season and then had a radical and successful pivot to leaning on the dominant run game.

In 2025, Patullo really tried to run the same offense as 2024 to build off that success. It failed.

They need to study this from 40,000.'

There’s some buzz that Harbaugh is targeting Jim Leonhard as DC. That would seem to be a good get.

Yeh, I am not a fan of this at all...DAL interviewed him Saturday and so far he is the guy I was hoping DAL would get. DAL has also requested to interview Orr, who is 33.

"Out of nine known candidates, nine are under 50 years old and three are in their thirties. Orr is the youngest candidate on the list."

The 2023 draft brought the team Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith. Neither player has reached their potential.

Round 3-4 has the potential to be all-time bad

65- Tyler Steen

66- Sydney Brown

105- Kelee Ringo (traded 2024 3rd to move up)

This has been a seriously productive 3rd round class (especially at positions of need or the Eagles)

I do think we've been spoiled. The Eagles (even during the good times) and other teams used to whiff on ENTIRE drafts. Forget mid round misses.

Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith are home runs. And I consider myself to be one of Carter's larger critics on the boards. Smith hasn't put up stats, but like you said, still hasn't hit his potential and has been really good down the stretch the last 2 seasons and was HUGE in the SB run.

Steen, IMO, gets too much hate. I never liked the trade down dilute that 2nd round pick into an early 3rd, culminating in Steen. But I still think he gets too much hate. He was fine and arguably the most consistent OL on the team this year. Ringo and Brown are big whiffs...but both are high end athletes who contribute on ST. If you draft a big time athlete in round 3, the bust potential will be very high. The fact that they are busts who still are ST assets isn't so bad for taking a shot on a high upside athlete.

Steen is a tricky offseason problem to figure out that no one is talking about much. Ideally you just leave him there on his rookie contract and he plays better but I'm curious if they address that position to get an upgrade. I know everyone is going to say bring Becton back but signing another guy to an $8M-$10M deal seems like it's hard to fit with all the other free agents as well as holes on the team that need to be addressed.

Yeah the Giants hit a homer with Harbaugh. Sucks. Howie and Jeff need to adjust and make this team even better now.

Why wouldn’t they upgrade? He’s been horrendous in the run game. (Supposedly)

Draft a T and a G high

Keep F Johnson and sign MB if LA cuts him

Backups

Kendall, Lampkin, Williams, Steen, 1st/2nd round T, 2nd/3rd round G, F Johnson

IMO, the air is coming out faster than it can get pushed back in. They had a HOF tackle in Lane, an otherwordly run blocking people-mover in Becton, Jurgens playing at a pro-bowl level, and Dickerson at an all-pro level run blocking like Becton while also excelling with pass pro.

Even your average probowl OL doesn't fit that profile precisely...let alone four guys. We don't know that Jurgens/Dickerson can get back there, don't know that we can magically draft OL that give us exactly what Becton and Lane did (and do it right away)...and combine that with the hourglass and odometer on Barkley going in opposite directions...the ability and chances of recreating the 2024 rushing attack are rapidly approaching zero.

That means they may have to do it differently this time around. And if they have to do it differently, then we circle back to the QB and if he's the right guy to do it differently with. And around and around we go.

I do not want a two year older version of Becton. Such a decision is out of projection and comfort. The Eagles invested heavily in the Offense and then absolutely nailed the last few drafts on defense. It is an unusual financial situation to not have a mix of higher paid players on both units. So now the Eagles must invest in the defense and begin replacing pieces on offense by nailing the draft over the next fe years to compensate. Stick with Steen unless something irresistible lands in their laps. At 23, the value can be in a top rated G or TE, but I am not informed enough about this draft to have an opinion for this year.

I wouldn't call Smith a home run. I'd say he's been solid value for where he was picked. Steen has also been solid, and I think gets too much hate on these boards. I never understood the Brown pick. He was a box safety in college. Everything we can't stand about him now was there in college - couldn't cover, played out of control, missed tackles, etc. Ringo was a flyer on an athlete you hoped you could coach up. I didn't love that pick, but I understood it.

Because they already have a lot of other holes and guys they need to figure out without a ton of cap flexibility. I would think figuring out TE, DE/OLB, S, CB, WR are all higher on the totem pole at the moment. You could potentially upgrade RG through the draft but I meant more from a FA perspective.

I would think first priority with personnel would be to get the line back to where it was in 2024.

Yeah, but they can get it fixed pretty quickly at the same time. MB coming back fills one, two high draft picks at G and T with a year to learn (assuming Lane comes back and Cam gives them something), two young options at center as backups already on the team, Steen as a swing, and Williams hopefully working towards being a backup for JM. If Lane retires this year that's a problem, but F Johnson and a high pick is about the best you can do. HOF level? No, but they can be good and deep.

I am a bit biased toward Williams him being a Longhorn and native Texan, I know he is a rookie, I would love to see him succeed but with Lane and Fred in front of him at T, maybe he might get a look at G? I know he played some G in HS @ Duncanville, a premier fb program in TX.

yeah people here keep saying it sucks they got him and Monken. I love it. Id love the division to be super competitive again.

Eagles bumping up the PC to 1:30 just so they can be late is classic Eagles
