The Packers were third in rushing DVOA in 2024…

I do believe I said it has been better because of Josh Jacobs. People have trouble tackling him moreso than having trouble defending their run game schematically. Its not that good.

FWIW Packers fans said their WRs regressed once he took over as WR coach, but his background is more the running game and OL.

I have no educated opinion of Mahaffey, but I find his background thoroughly underwhelming for what seems to be a big role in this offense. Also this has been framed by Jordan Schulz as a firing, which means this guy failed upward, the Patullo special.

Lol, ok…

He wasn’t stripped of RGC last year; he gave up the role because he didn’t feel like he was being treated as the RGC due to Sirianni and Patullo’s tweaks without conferring with him.

So they ignored him and he said I quit. How is that better?

Yeah former FB hopefully the run game is more suited to his knowledge base.

have you watched the packers? The other day you were asking why people think Love sucks. I know you like posting DVOA stats in here but do you watch games?

Forgive my ignorance, how long have teams had specific run and pass game coordinators and not just Offensive Coordinator and position coaches? Has that always been a thing?

No. First time I heard of that specific title was a decade or two ago. I think before that they were just called assistants/QA coaches.

That's not what the tweet you shared said happened. You guys are creating false narratives to support your sky is falling attitudes to support your Siri hate.

When you ignore the person doing the job you are removing them from the position while letting them keep the title which is why he said screw this. It's Hurts fault then. Better?

You asked me if Tucker Kraft could block. I’m confident I’ve watched more Packers games than you.

Do you feel he showed that he had answers?

Do you feel it was wrong of them to try to find answers after he couldnt? I thought people wanted Siri to step in...Of course when he does, thats wrong too.

Do you evaluate what you are seeing? Or do you just let DVOA tell you if its any good?

Ahh. I wouldn’t really count All-City. It’s small potatoes. The Ringer is relatively. Che compared to The Post. The Athletic is a legit competitor as they actually have local best writers and cover National/international sports.

I have a friend who was part of the layoffs yesterday. I’ll spare the boring details but management really botched this since Bezos took over with them bleeding subscriptions and views. I know you focused specifically on sports, but these cuts went beyond sports and will absolutely affect its quality, and frankly, its readers’ understanding of the world.

Side note: One of their international reporters was in an active war zone connected to a car charger for power and heat to log on to be told she was being laid off. What a disgrace.

They started hemorrhaging subscribers starting in 2024. For a lot of reasons it appears, but then it spiked when there was a no endorsement mandate. I'm surprised that people are surprised. When you lose hundreds of thousands of subscribers did people think Bezos was just going to eat that lost revenue? CEOs and mega corporations never accept losses. Either the customers lose or the employees lose, but never the head honchos. People had every right to cancel their subscriptions if they were frustrated with the content or the direction, and point taken, but now we're seeing the end result of that as well. Cause and effect.

Oh, stop with the condescending nonsense.

It doesnt have to be anyone's fault that an older coach who already considered retirement has decided he is done coaching right before the team has to rebuild his OL and change philosophies.

Yep the only thing to get excited about is that Mannion picked his own guy to sink or swim. On paper underwhelming

As usual, I didn't start it but I can play that game. Im also excellent at watching football so forgive me that I dont just take your DVOA posts as gospel when I have a TV with excellent internet connection.

You just keep making up stories and getting mad about them. Relax.

I mean, that's all we can do is read the tea leaves given we aren't behind closed doors. I think you're lying to yourself if you're thinking the culture feels great down there right now. The best assistant coach in franchise history just peace'd out because they disrespected him essentially. And now they have to scramble to replace him.

People can feel this way if they want, but I want to see how these takes age 8/9 months to a year from now if this OL situation falls apart.

As much as it pains me to admit it, I agree with HE on this. Jacobs is a beast and usually racks up a ton of yards after contact. I don't know what the actual numbers are but I'd bet he's top-5 or close to it perennially.

ok! it looks like its Talk About HE time in the blog instead of talk about football. All of the most insecure posters' favorite subject!

If that is why he left then it is 100% on Nick. Who knows at this point?

Felt this way last night, feels like either it’s going to be a great season or it’s going to be a train wreck. I’d add feels like we’ve been fortunate on the major injury front for a couple of season. This year lost Mukuba and lane for significant time. Previous year we had 21 of 22 starters for the SB.
