Has that always been a thing? No, it's a newer thing. They really just slapped a new title on these guys and gave them a raise. It's different across the NFL of when it started but every team basically copied each other. Press Taylor was the Eagles first PGC. Stoutland was first as RGC as a bump after winning the first SB.

Who knows at this point?I made a post about this earlier, I don’t know what the ultimate reason stoutland decided he didn’t wan come back. Probably multiple things culminating into him being out. However, the part of this whole thing that bothers me the most is the lack of communication. Based off the McManus article sirianni and Patullo wanted to change the run concepts/running game. But did they go to Stoutland and directly tell him this an/or work with him with their ideas about how to fix it? Collaborate with each other?I’m guessing if they did or do it better than what’s being suggested then the article is less likely is put out. Furthermore I tend to believe this has been talked about in league circles for a while now. Schefter confirmed that this was what he was alluding to a week ago. McManus didn’t just write this article last minute. And Berman even kind of alluded to it in the podcast last week with Sheil, but couldn’t definitively say it yet as he didn’t know if it was definitely going to happen.if this has been talked about in league circles and they heard that sirianni was willing to fix the run game but decided not to have the courtesy to have conversation or if they did not communicate it better with stoutland(or try to work with stoutland in fixing it) who’s been with the organization for 13 years, one of the most respected people in that organization and around the league. So does this help the eagles in the eyes of people vying for certain jobs on this staff like OC? i wouldn’t think so. If McManus story is accurate feels like when things don’t go smoothly or work at the level expected then lack of adequate communication exists even with the longest tenured coach (arguably with Vic the most well respected as well) in the building.Just a question to ponder, if the defense doesn’t look as good this year and regresses (like stoutland first time in Fangio/sirianni tenure the defense doesn’t) is sirianni gonna communicate with Fangio on how to fix it and work with him to do so or just go about fixing it without having that communication?

Power plays galore. He still hasn't figured out how to get it under control. The fact that Sirianni and Patullo basically threw him to the curb to try to fix an offense that they failed miserably at it is such a bad look on Lurie more than anything. It should have never come to that.

I don't know what the actual numbers are but I'd bet he's top-5 or close to it perennially. He is a beast, but a running back alone doesn’t make for the third best run game in the league. You know that.
February 5Feb 5 49 minutes ago, Sack that QB said:After sleeping on it, what upsets me most about Stoutland is how thrown together this all feels. They came into the offseason wanting the Shanahan offense... but not entirely. Because if they hired Brian Daboll he'd be running a different offense. So they didn't even come into the offseason with one over arching philosophy. But that seemed to be their preferred philosophy. So ok, Daboll turns them down after McDaniel and it's "I WANT THE SHANAHAN OFFENSE!" Which is fine. But to authorize a novice coach with next to no coaching experience and no experience whatsoever in heading up an offense or constructing an offense to be the man who does that... holy crap man that's incredibly risky. Maybe Mannion will end up being the next McVay. But if he is, he's gone in a year... and then what? You just turned the keys over almost entirely to a novice and you seem to be letting great coaches disappear from your organization all to get this Shanahan offense constructed by a rookie and the dude could be gone in a year anyway. We are not behind closed doors, but it feels like Lurie after the season was pissed and was like "Come hell or high water, get me the Shanahan offense, I don't care what it takes!" And this is where they landed. It's likewise incredibly risky to simply hire based on having experience. Daboll failed miserably and McDaniel was only moderately successful. Miami was soft through and through. So soft they complained about Fangio being too tough on them. For me, give me the hungry, bright (universal opinion of Mannion is he is both) option than the retread mediocre option. Every single time.
February 5Feb 5 Gargano said he was told that Stoutland was telling people that 2025 took a lot out of him, so much so that he even brought up the possibility of retirement to the Eagles. But he said he was so frustrated with how the season went that he basically walked away in frustration and is disgruntled. Combine this with the McManus story and it feels like a total botch job by the Eagles here. I can't believe this.

Last year their OL got beat up and they lost Tucker Kraft to an ACL tear. He’s one of the best run-blocking TEs in the league.
February 5Feb 5 Going to be interesting to see who is hired for offensive line coach nowI can't imagine Morehead staying on either feels like they are gutting that entire staff

February 5Feb 5 I'll be honest if the Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator outrank the Running Game Coordinator and they have ideas they want to try, then like in any other job JFDI, I don't care if they asked Stoutland for permission or not, just install the new blocking wrinkles in pre season and make it work, it's not like Patullo's concepts were have Jurgens miss his block entirely or get beaten hollow within a quarter second, so why was that out on the field? because Jeff Stoutland was butt hurt he wasn't asked with due deference? GTFOOH.This whole thing is like when Duce Staley discovered the title of Assistant Head Coach was actually really Assistant to the Head Coach and flounced off to end up 2 firings later as running back coach at the Browns.
