I think Dean probably leaves but I think there's a better chance he stays than some people. Some think it's a lock he's gone. I don't.This is exactly why I'm so bullish Dean returning.

JC should love it. Would Nakobe get as many opportunities to blitz, and can he be kept clean?Shorts is a good coach, so he'll work with what he has - but changes would be coming. If Fangio retires at the end of next year, which I think is a strong possibility, I’d be OK bring back Jim Schwartz. I actually like Jim Schwartz. I get there’s a lot of things people didn’t love about him. But when he was forced to work with less, he got more out of his talent. That 2018 Eagles team had a boatload of injuries to their secondary. They had LeBlanc playing major snaps in playoff games. And by the end of the year in that playoff run, they didn’t give up more than 20 points in a game. Considering how banged up their cornerback position was that was pretty impressive. He’s not fangio. but I do think he gives you a higher floor and safety net then an internal hire. In my opinion, I think it’s either gonna be him unless he gets another job or hurtt

Combine this with the McManus story and it feels like a total botch job by the Eagles here. I can't believe this.36 minutes ago, Sack that QB said:Well I mean the coaches are the bosses of the player. Even if the coaches may not be the best, if they ask a player to do something he shouldn't say no. Players resisting is how you get dysfunction. Players need to be open to being coached and coached hard. That means being forced to do things outside their comfort zone. I don't know if Hurts is or isn't, but the leaks coming out of the organization are that he isn't.Asking why is not saying no. Going a little further with Hurts, he’s had so many OCs it’s a wonder his head is not spinning. If one guy tells him something and the next guy tells him something else, of course he’ll ask why.

He's due around a $17M option bonus in 2026 which he wouldn't get paid I would assume. I also wouldn't be surprised if there is language in the contract about prior years option bonuses. I don't see the Eagles going after all his bonus money but I think there would be some type of resolution there.

February 6Feb 6 Could be worse, you could listen to Morey‘s press conference and come away with it and say he just said a lot of bullcrap. it really just came down to the owner didn’t want to pay the luxury tax and that’s why they did what they did. Because trading McCain could’ve happened at any time between then and when the offseason started. you should’ve had secondary trade lined up before just doing that trade. So either owner wanted to duck tax and got compensated for it or you are just bad at assessing the deadline and just completely misread the market.

So while you are correct, partly, what you said isn't really applicable to the situation with Hurts being resistant to the coaching.Asking why isn't necessarily resistance. But resistance is resistance. You can't really talk your way around it.

But that does not absolve him. Because when you look at it, choosing to duck it in that way was absolutely the wrong move. And even if he chose to trade McCain, yes there could be players/picks worth trading him for, he got horrible value in the deal.So even the parts that were up to Morey alone, he completely botched.Ownership AND Morey are both problems.
February 6Feb 6 I'm on to 2026 and how the Eagles get better with who they've got. What's done is done at this point. Combine then free agency are coming right up after this boring game. I'm not writing the season off. I'm excited to watch a top defense and an attempt at a new offense.

They could have got under the tax in other ways. But Morey still looks bad because they waited until his value was lowest to trade him despite the spin on what he said. He needs to be fired and Harris needs to sell the team. They are a disaster of an organization.

It's like we are a player or 2, or a Gannon away from having a leaky run defense, hit-or-miss pass rush or the coverage going soft. Shorts might not get that 2024-2025 ceiling, but I do like the floor.

If Hurts asked why that does not make him automatically resistant. If a coach tells him one thing and another tells him another he would be remiss if he didn’t ask why. A high school coach who’s a graduate assistant somewhere is one thing but at this level he damn better well know why or go back to stocking shelves at Krogers. Of, however, the coach explains the rationale and it makes sens, then yes, there may be a problem. The srticle never goes that far.

It always needs to be explicit and there should be a follow up checking for understanding to insure clarity. Gone are the days of "just do as I tell you" in order to lead people.

Or only when Hurts supposedly did it based on unknown source "leaks?"I don't mind any of it. I don't care if Hurts questions the coordinators or not, but it's just a fact of the matter that if they aren't on the same page, the offense isn't going to work. If the QB doesn't buy into what the coaches are doing, the offense is cooked. And if Hurts doesn't buy into what Mannion is selling, then fast forward a year and Hurts and Sirianni are probably both gone. It's cause and effect, not blame.
