In the video McDaniel spoke about how it is important as a cosch to explain to a player why they are doing things. The reasons behind it, the logic. He said that is the difference between good and bad coaches. Otherwise you have coaches trying to tell players to fo something but they arent able to explain the reasoning behind it and that leads to players buying in.Of course you have the same pathetic people here defending incompetent coaches ao they blame the player they hate and look to hate on constantly 24/7.It is obvious KP was the type of coach that couldn't explain why they were doing things because KP himself didn't know why they were doing things. Mr "we just ran to run sometimes" put together a horrible offense that set nothing up throughout a game. Did motion for the sake of motion with no other intention. He was the worst OC in tbe league. Obvious by what we saw and by how no team has shown any interest in him for anything at all, College or Pros.Seemed like Hurts was part of it from reports though
February 6Feb 6 Could there be a douchier play for this guy to go? Two wannabe hot guys on the same coaching staff, and Kingsbury not being desired anyone just being like "Yeah, I'll try to get the McVay fairy dust on me so I can get a job in a year."
February 6Feb 6 55 minutes ago, Sack that QB said:That isn't true. That's fair. Still, the presentation is meant to make Hurts look bad. Coaches always talk about players needing to buy in, if coaches lose the locker room or they're not listening anymore they've failed. And now KP is no longer the OC. They brought in not 1, but 2 outside couches to fix the offense.

This was a failure of a season, and even after successful seasons change is inevitable. No one should be gleeful about the teams performance. The offense was awful all season and the a bunch of SF backups got the better of the defense. Even STs weren't very good this year.Maybe they can turn that frown upside down and play and coach better next season
February 6Feb 6 Been absolutely buried at work, and have to travel to DC and Vegas next week. But @e-a-g-l-e-s eagles!, here's the answer on a Dickerson retirement. For starters, I don't think he retires. But if he does, the Eagles would absolutely wait until after June 1 to file the paperwork. At that point, it works like a post June 1 trade with the caveat the Eagles could theoretically ask for a refund of his pro rata signing bonus. Landon signed a 4 year, $84 million contract with a $20,095,000 signing bonus. All of his 2024 and 2025 comp was guaranteed, and $10 million of his 2026 comp became guaranteed earlier this year with the remaining $8.85 million becoming guaranteed on the 3rd day of this league year. However, if we retires, he gives up all the 2026 guarantees. So he's been paid $29,148,190 cash over the last 2 years, and the Eagles have taken cap charges of $5.1mm and $6.6mm on this contract (~900k more in 2025 related to rookie singing bonus). So the dead money would be $17.5mm, with ~$5.4mm this year and $12.1mm next year - ~$4.9mm in 2026 cap savings. Now, the Eagles could demand he repay 60% of his singing bonus, adding back over $12mm to this year's cap. However, I find that highly unlikely since all his 2025 comp was his signing bonus. Maybe they negotiate a lower number, or they let it go.
February 6Feb 6 O line & WRs question coaches: yay, leaders stepping up, the coaches are morons who should be fired!Hurts questions coaches: boo, he's a diva, he resists, he should just do what the coaches say! (The coaches they believe are morons who should be fired).

It may not be true and it could be disgruntled coaches throwing him under the bus. But if it is I don't think that is a good thing. If it's true I think it's one element of multiple as to why this offense has been so mediocre excluding 2022 since he's been the QB. I hope he's willing to fully embrace Mannion because if not, this experiment is dead before it even began. To see if it's going to work he needs to buy in.

It shows him speaking into the headset (one would assume to Hurts) and he's saying "Just f'n trust me!". They ostensibly ran the play, and it was successful towards a win. Steichen got to a point where Hurts trusted in him to dial up the correct plays when needed. As with any interpersonal relationship between coach and player, it's a nuanced issue. The two will never be 100% on the same page all the time, but you're striving to get as close as possible. Yes, the coach should always be willing and able to explain the rationale of a play or a progression but, by the same token, an NFL QB who has mastered the playbook and put in the proper film study should very rarely be asking "what are we trying to accomplish here with this play?"QBs like Peyton Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees, Marino, etc. likely all had 100% autonomy to audible out of a play at the LOS if they chose to. That leash is probably dictated by how often they audibled into a more successful outcome vs how often they 'left plays on the field'. This is where Hurts' lack of continuity with an OC comes in -- who knows to what extent he ever builds trust in these different OCs. Hurts is very likely not the type of person to go to Eagles brass and say "this guy can't design an offense", and it's unlikely an inexperienced OC will say to Nick "this guy doesn't know the offense, why not?" So, what you're left with is two people as QB and OC doing the best they can to find a rapport. Obviously, this past season it didn't work. Now Mannion and Grizzard will need to be 100% on the same page and messaging to Hurts.

He's said the offense is the way it is because it's how he wants it but then he's also mentioned before how the coaches opened the playbook before 🤷♂️

That's the cpout you are trying to create to talk around the issue. It specifically said he was resistant if the answer wasn't to his liking.Thats a player not listening to coaches just because he is uncomfortable with an idea that he doesn't comprehend well. Or he thinks he knows better. Not good. No way to spin it.I don't think you are impenetrable, so I'll try this. Stoutland has been RGC for a while now, and suddenly not. Clearly, Sirianni/Patullo wanted to do something else. If/when they present their different ideas and players, who have been hearing certain things for years from Stoutland now hear something else, might they ask why? Of course they might. And Hurts is certainly part of the run game. Isn't it reasonable that he would ask why?Further, you have gone from "resistant" to "doesn't comprehend well." Frankly, I think that's ugly and prejudicial.
February 6Feb 6 If Dickerson retires i wouldn't be surprised. When we drafted him I thought to myself that if we could get 5 years out of him playing well that be a win. He had injuries in college already but not many thought he'd be a 10 year high level Guard. Felt like he could be a real good player but wouldn't last long. Be thankful we got enough out of him to help win a SB, if this is indeed it for him.

February 6Feb 6 I prefer it when the Eagles are counted out and not expected to compete for a SB. This is when they play better when expectations are low.
