I agree. That’s why if they do re-sign Dean (I don’t think they will) then Campbell could be on the move because why have that many linebackers locked up that long?

I agree with you on Campbell but it was kind of interesting how Dean took basically all of his snaps by his 3rd game back.

Unless the plan is to go to a traditional 4-3 look and move Campbell to the edge on passing downs then it’s highly unlikely that Dean is retained.

But who knows… you can tell he’s well liked

Phillips I’m back and forth with on if he should be brought back. You’d think Smith and Hunt would be good enough to let him walk but our pass rush sucked at the beginning of the season.

Definitely need depth at edge rusher that isn’t an almost 40 year old

I like him but i just dont see how you can pay him with the others coming up. Hunt is going to expensive too

No one said they couldn't trade Wentz, just that it would be a large dead cap hit. But if you'd like to learn something, the cap hit from trading Wentz was $33.8 million. For AJ, it would be $43.5 million. And AJ wasn't friggin benched.

We have $22mm in cap space, and get to just under $31mm by cutting Michael Carter. We need ~$10.7mm for rookies and in season acquisitions, so that leaves around $20mm. The excess cap hit from trading AJ before June 1? Just over $20 million. Congrats, we have no cap space and a roster with 38 players and 8 draft picks. And $22,625 in cap space. The only way to get an extra cap is extending JD, which might add just over $7mm. So that's $7mm to sign: TE, CB2, S, Edge. We legitimately can't field a full roster if we trade him.

Yeah, despite the strong debut, I'm not sure he showed enough down the stretch to force our hand in offering anything he would jump at. I think he tests the market, and only if he comes up empty, does he come back to put pen to paper on a team friendly deal. I think in all likelihood, he's gone.
