Eagles more impressive. Against Hall of Fame coach, QB and TE. A team that won 3 SBs. And no blitz. Eagles rested their starters in the 4th quarter.

It’s more impressive by the eagles because the Patriots all playoffs weren’t playing well offensively. Going into the game they had 5 offensive tds and 5 turnovers. The patriots played 4 top 10 defense in points allowed all season and they all came in the playoffs. Their offense averaged 15 ppg and more turnovers than tds. Comparatively the eagles in the regular season played 5 top 10 defenses in ppg. They averaged 20.6 ppg. New England was a byproduct that their schedule was one of the worst analytically in the last 25

this will be received as good news, but it’s not. Sometimes you need to move on.

They should try and recoup some of that money. He got a 20m signing bonus and PHI ammortized it over 5 years. 5m/yr bonus avg on a 4yr contract is nothing to sneeze at when cap space is tight and not many restructure options are available for PHI. PHI could potentially get back ~10m if he decides not to play in '26. They could also work out a medical/injury settlement to help recoup some of the money.

Looking at the league and how they can create cap room this is a pretty good chart:

If you aren't a chart person here is a table view:

These are available here:

Here's what I'm thinking as far as the offseason, at least internally.

1. Start out with the $15.5M effective cap space after signing rookies (this assumes no trading of draft picks).

2. Subtract $5M for the Practice Squad and "cushion" during the season. This figure does not consider what I mentioned in a prior post....that Goedert's contract was redone "on paper" that will allow him to be designated as a post June 1st cut so they don't take the whole $20M cap hit this year. Nor does it take into account the possibility of Dickerson retiring, which would likely save a few million this season if he filed papers after 6/1.

This leaves $10.5M in cap space.

3. Cut Michael Carter. It saves $8.8M.

That leaves $19.3M in cap space.

4. Extend Jordan Davis. A reasonable guesstimate for him is a $25M signing bonus with a minimum salary, which works out to a $6.2M cap hit rather than the current $12.9M cap figure, saving $6.7M. (The entire contract estimate is 4 yr extension (5 yrs total) for $99.2M with $64M guarantee).

That leaves $26M in cap space.

5. Extend Jalen Carter. Reasonable guesstimate is a $35M SB and a minimum salary. He still has some bonus carryover, and his 2026 cap number is $11.4M (The entire deal would be 5/$165M w/ $97M guaranteed). His current cap number is $6.9M, so it uses an additional $4.5M.

That leaves $21.5M in cap space.

6. Resign Jaelan Phillips. Reasonable guesstimate is $23.5M SB with minimum salary, with a $5.9M cap number. (The entire deal is 4/$90M w/ $57M g'teed w/ dummy years added for cap proration).

That leaves $15.6M in cap space.

It's possible they don't resign Phillips. If they don't there a few other possibilities:

- Resign Nakobe Dean. I doubt they do this but if they do his deal would likely be 3/$27M w/ $25M g'teed, and a $3.2M 2026 cap figure.

-Extend Moro Ojomo. Given what Milton Williams got last year, I doubt Moro does it, but if they did I think if he took it, it would be a 3 year extension (4 total) for $63M w/ $48M guaranteed. His 2026 cap number increase to $5.6M, a $2M increase from its current amount.

- Trade AJ Brown. I highly doubt they do it before June 1st, as it eats up an additional $20M in cap space. If done after June 1st it saves $7M in 2026 cap space.

- Designate Jake Elliott as a post June 1st cut. That increases his 2026 cap number by $2.1M (from $4.9M to $7M).

- Resign Braden Mann. 2/$6M w/ $3M Guaranteed. 2026 cap number would be about $1.6M.

Lane seems like the guys that's always going to be working out and will get incredibly ripped once he does stop playing and stops worrying about his bodyweight. He doesn't strike me as a guy whose going to completely stop and get fat.

As long as they have Fred Johnson as backup, I fail to see the downside. He is a must re-sign.

Especially without any of the project OTs looking ready yet.

Just give that Guthrie woman back so we can quit hearing about it, please.

My wish is to get someone that can get a year learning from Lane and come in when Lane is out from injury before he likely retires in 2027

Dean- No. Injury prone. Got Campbell, Trotter and Mondon. Good depth at LB.

Ojomo- No. Not for that price. And already paying top dollar to 2 defensive tackles.

AJ- Gonzo. Playing nice for now so he can get traded. Mutually agreed upon with Lurie this season when he finally shut his trap.

Think after cutting Carter, they bring him back later in offseason and sign for vet minimum.

Everything else looks good.

Do you think he'll get a shot at starting elsewhere... I mean he will play here, but I can see him moving on (again).

He may already be here, Williams.

My parents actually live about a mile away from her house. Knowing that neighborhood and surround area I’m surprised they haven’t had a camera in the area to figured out what car was used.

Im thinking maybe he learned his lesson. He left for not all that much money, and ended up back here. Didnt he have a comment about regretting his decision to leave too?

Maybe - he was also was giving everybody the goodbye treatment again on clean-out day. He's turning 29, so it's not out of the realm of possibility he gets a multi-year contract somewhere (hopefully here).

While I don't think we are going all-in on OZ just because most of our OL doesn't fit that - Fred's not really going to reach anybody, if that's a problem schematically.

Fred Johnson grades out subpar in run blocking and pass blocking. He's a solid backup. As much as he wants it or hopes for it (for the big payday), don't see him getting a starting position this offseason either. He is what he is. Substantially better than Pryor, but that's a low bar.

As far as Lane Johnson goes. He has rebounded from every injury he's had and come back stronger. I don't doubt that he could do that again. May play til 40. I'd take it.

The Patriots could've used Fred the other day, that was brutal performance in pass pro.

I wouldn't resign Dean either, just speculating as to the possibility and what it would look like cap wise.

On Ojomo, statistics can lie, but that's what a lot of contracts are based on. Let's compare Ojomo's 3rd year to Milton Williams, with the caveat being that Ojomo played 240 more snaps than Williams:

Milton: 21 tackles, 21 assists, 0.5 sacks, 3 TFL, 7 QBH
Ojomo: 17 tackles, 21 assists, 6 sacks, 6 TFL, 12 QBH

Ojomo made a huge leap between years 2 and 3. If he continues on his current trajectory, getting him at $16M/year & $48M g'teed will look like a steal. I get that the team may not want to put so much capital in the DT position and they'd likely get a 3rd or 4th round compensatory pick for letting him walk, but that assumes they don't sign FAs of their own. Also, if I'm Ojomo and his agent, I'm looking at the huge increase in cap space over the last 2 years, the league trend toward building a strong front 4 to put pressure on QBs, I'm betting on myself, because if he improves on how he did last year, he's getting way more than $48M guaranteed

A guy like Fred could have a very long career as a swing tackle. He and his agent should realize he's a below average starting OT, but he's a very above average backup who you can rely on over the course of a few games. Guys like that are worth their weight in gold. Obviously if someone pays him a low starter's contract with over $5M guaranteed he should take it, but spending the rest of your career signing a series of deals that are 2 years and between $3.5M and $5M w/ $2M guaranteed that include incentives for being a starter isn't a bad way to make a living.

I don't doubt Ojomo gets paid. The Eagles can't pay him. He will bet on himself I'm sure.

Hopefully, we keep JP this offseason. And extend Hunt, Cooper & Q next offseason. Lot of mouths to feed there.

Would love Fred as swing tackle and Steen as swing guard for next year's team.

I forget which beat writer it was but someone was saying recently when talking to Ojomo he has a very business savy mind and he's already mentioned testing free agency even though he's a year away still. You probably aren't getting him cheap or on a team friendly deal. With big contracts going to Carter and Davis, he's probably walking.

I'm sure they probably have an idea of what's going on but dont want to say much or anything at all.

Just a weird situation in general.

I wouldn't be surprised. I worked a bit with a French national who had a business in Guadaloupe. Guadaloupe supposedly speaks French but he said someone from France who hadn't live there for a while would have a hard time understanding the natives. For that matter, have you ever been to the "english" speaking island such as Antigua? Natives who are reasonably educated are easily understandable with a British accent but those who aren't have their own patois.

Oh, this is very true. I'm a native Spanish speaker too and I don't understand a word.
