The problem in the old O was WR3 basically ran a lot of routes but was barely targeted. Not sure why, in isolation, they'd sign an experienced player with concussion issues to be WR3. Bigger priorities, on the face of it

Cooks is the Josh McCown of WRs and we'd be getting him at the end of his career just like the real McCown.

You ain't lying, geez that would be underwhelming. I like Fran but why even bother making that prediction like it's a big deal.

More like Brandin Cooked. He would not be effective as a field stretching WR.

Cooks in this offense as the deep #3 does solve a lot of their problems (WR with speed). He's not as fast as he used to be, but still functional.

At 33 in this offense as the 3rd read, he won’t be functional.

Peak Cooks was quite good. But we are only about 6 years removed from that.

So was peak Julio Jones and peak Ryan Kerrigan.

I'd rather keep Dotson. He just needs to get more targets here

Jahan has done his time in purgatory, he wants to play football again.

Cooks can get bent. Don’t want him. Won’t be effective in this offense. I’d like to see a big body possession receiver.

So I guess you are assuming AJ is traded?

That's what AJ should be.

If we move on from AJ, Christian Kirk could be an option. Underrated guy, can be a monster in the slot. I think we'd still have to go WR in the draft because I'm not a huge Dotson fan but Smith/Kirk would a respectable 1/2 at least.

I'd rather sign Zaccheaus than Cooks. I think he provides more as a slot. Cooks is a guy who's borderline out of the league.

If I was him I'd stick with Bears. We don't pass to the 3rd WR much

Bingo.

Correct - he's not going to stick around to see how the 'will we/ won't we' plays out with AJ. Likewise, I don't think any other bonafided free agent WR2/3 will want to sacrifice a portion of their career here either - which points us back to draft or trade.

All of the beat writers seem to think it's more likely than not that he will be traded despite the cap hit. It makes me wonder if that trade would give Hurts and Sirianni more leeway.

Schefter and Derrick Gunn said recently they think AJ Brown will probably stay. It seems the tide is starting to turn on this one now that the dust has more settled with the season being over. Gunn said the Eagles don't want to trade him.

Part of me thinks the media doing the trading away AJ thing is just a way to fill in dead space in the offseason. The cap doesn't matter in hypothetical situations, nor the low IQ comp being offered.,

By all means propose the trade, but put the effort in on the impacts to the cap. Inform your readers

Not disputing the age but invite you to partake in

My sister graduated from college (first time), dropped out and rented canoes on the Guadalupe. (Us veterans of the shoot understand the last e is silent) and lived off 306 twice in her life. I inherited the last place but have since sold it. Mid Texas summers don’t fit with me anymore.

The drinking age changed to eighteen when I was 16 1/2. I used that LA driver’s license from when I was 15. I really believe from when I was 16-18 the clerks really doubted a person would use a fake ID for his twenties. Worked. Back then they didn’t give DWIs, they gave public intoxication tickets. With your single beer, the convenience store clerk wrapped it in a go bag, basically a paper bag the size of a koozie. Same purpose, to keep the condensation from the beer from dripping on your clothes.

Thx for sharing. Good times and great memories...floating the river down around New Braunfels for a couple of days, passing out on the picnic tables overnight at the campsite (who needs a tent), packing up and heading to Padre for a couple of days, then rushing back to DFW on a Sunday afternoon for work the next week...spring break Texas style in my late teens/early 20s. Used to could put a cooler in a tube and float all day or until you ran out of beer, they have cracked down on the drinking on the river big time. Too many idiots with bottles, throwing their trash in the river, and getting into fights. The locals finally got tired of it.

Of course the Eagles don’t want to trade him. They’d only get a 2nd round pick in return for losing a starting WR and a ton of cap space.

And…let’s be real…I don’t care who the offensive coaches are…our pass attack is already awful as-is. If Jalen Hurts only has Smith to throw to and no one else, this will be in contention for the worst passing offense in the NFL.

Unless the passing game scheme overhauled, WR3 won't get many looks no matter who take that rolls. Dotsons's game was to block and run routes to divert defensive focus. Credit to him and a few before to just do what was asked of them and not complaint. As such, why to spend cap money and draft resource on that position? Just use a UDFA or vet min will do.

Tbh I don’t think the Eagles were eager to trade AJ Brown. I don’t think they want to, but I don’t think they’re against it if some team comes to them and offers them something they find worthwhile to do it. The whole narrative they were gonna trade them for a 2nd round pick makes absolutely no sense due to the cap hit they’d sustain and eagles value him more than a 2nd.

If a team came with a 1st depending on where or when I think it’s much more interesting because the Eagles in a year from now are gonna be out on AJ Brown based off his contract. His contract dictates that that he either needs an extension or they are moving on after 2026. So I could see them if they got a decent first round pick say OK we’ll consider it. I still don’t know if they would do it, but I think they would consider it.

I don’t think it was ever about the Eagles wanting to trade him. I think more about Aj and him wanting to be in this offense and his frustrations. After 2026 he has $4 mil guaranteed on the contract. Hard time believing he’s playing 2027 on that contract nor the eagles giving him an extension.
