I always remember the offseason they needed to extend Cox contract. Howie extended other players first, making fans panic they weren't going to afford to pay Cox. Howie saved him for last. It was easier to structure everyone else, then structure Cox within the cap years and what should be put into signing bonus. Rather than his first, then work all the other deals around it.

Howie knows what he's doing. While you can't sign everyone, if there's anyone that can maximize things to make it work, it's him. He may surprise us with some things.

Agreed. People acting like Howie is going to sit on his hands and do very little after this past season haven't paid attention to his career as GM.

What a locker room cancer…

There have been a ton of articles and tweets pumped out this morning about a round table with Sirianni and Roseman from Friday. Did I miss something last week? Did they just meet with reporters and have them hold all quotes until today for some reason?

Aaaand youre back to madden nonsense

Call it nonsense if you want, I'm looking big picture and what makes the most sense to keep the team together.

Look at these contracts.

CB1:

Pat Surtain- 4 year $96 million annual $24 million

Derek Stingley- 3 year $90 million annual $30 million

Jaycee Horn- 4 year $100 million annual $25 million

Nickel:

Devon Witherspoon- 4 year $32 million annual $8 million

Taron Johnson- 3 year $30 million annual $10 million

Kyler Gordon- 3 year $40 million annual $13 million

DT1:

Chris Jones- 5 year $158 million annual $32 million

Quinnen Williams- 4 year $96 million annual $24 million

Milton Williams- 4 year $104 million annual $26 million

If it comes down to keeping one combination of the following, what are you doing?

Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean

Cooper Dejean and Jalen Carter

Jalen Carter and Quinyon Mitchell

I'm not tying to play Madden. I'm trying to keep the best combination of players together as possible. There's 100% NO DENYING how good Jalen Carter is and the impact he has on games.

I just think it's more important to keep the core together rather than break the bank and let important players walk.

I can't see them paying CB1 and DT1 money and at the same time bring back DeJean, Davis, Hunt, Ojomo etc.

100% of everything you said...been reading that Aubrey will get a 2rd tender, possibly a first. If there was a year for Jerry to go "all in" this is the year in my opinion. One thing that has to be a breath of fresh air is this:

"When you’re set up the way I am, that old mirror, that self-evaluation really is appropriate and has to be done,” Jones said via Watkins. "My way of doing things doesn’t work if I don’t change. I’m not successful, then I haven’t [changed]. There’s no other way.”

We'll see if he's all talk......again.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about getting another facelift.

Sounds like it was a closed session

Cade Otton is a guy I like as a mid tier TE1 with 2 rookies.

In 2024 he had a several week stretch where he blew up when Evans\Godwin went down. He proved to be a more than capable receiver. The issues is there were a lot of mouths to feed ahead of him so he didn't get the targets.

Shouldn't be a problem here given Nick's comments unsure

If you want the best combo you keep all three…duh

You can afford it but means having the discipline to let guys like blank, phillips and dean walk

Gotta hit some OL picks too for rookie contracts

That's precisely why trading Jalen Carter might make the most sense, even if it's the toughest pill to swallow. They can't keep EVERYONE, but there are a lot of very good players who they could keep if they didn't tie a monster contract in to Carter. Not saying he doesn't deserve it, but I just think the return could help the team just as much. You get to keep more of your players signed, you get picks and potentially another starting caliber player, if not better.

I'd hate to lose Carter but if some team threw multiple 1s at us and taking his shoulders into consideration..... I dunno. We do need a lot of help to rebuild the oline for the future and get cheap contracts on the offensive side of the ball. Having multiple 1sts in multiple years is what built our core that got us our latest ring.

I'm not even talking about this years FA, but say you lose those guys. 3 starters gone (I know, Campbell is here and untouchable for some reason), so at least 2 starters.

plus the following:

Jalyx Hunt

Jordan Davis

Moro Ojomo

Nolan Smith

Jeremiah Trotter Jr. (for those who say he can be LB2 once Baun is gone)

Continuing to nail the draft is the important part.

Really need some impact play from guys like:

Ty Robinson- none as a rookie

Andrew Makubu- showed potential, needs to put on some weight and continue growth

Jeremiah Trotter Jr.- good ST flashed when able to play

Mac McWilliams- who? JK, does he even make the team

Since 2021- the draft picks on defense have been:

Milton Williams

Zech McPhearson

Marlon Tuipulotu

Tarron Jackson

JaCoby Stevens

Patrick Johnson

Jordan Davis

Nakobe Dean

Kyron Johnson

Jalen Carter

Nolan Smith

Sydney Brown

Kelee Ringo

Moro Ojomo

Quinyon Mitchell

Cooper DeJean

Jalyx Hunt

Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Jihaad Campbell

Andrew Mukuba

Ty Robinson

Mac McWilliams

Smael Mondon

APR

10 starters on defense out of the last 18 picks with key ST players and potential starters. That's an INSANE run. Still some big question marks from last years class, but the 2022-2024 draft classes have built this defense. That's the core. It's a crazy run. Howie needs to keep as many as he can, and now as you said, do the same on offense. The next 3 years need to be about rebuilding the offense while still nailing defenders here and there.

That's all I'm saying. In no way am I suggesting that Howie puts Jalen Carter on the block. But, if Dallas was dumb enough to overpay for Quinnen Williams, I'd put money on a team doing the same for Carter.

While I like Otten, he’s likely going to command more money than DG.

Weird to embargo it when they’re meeting the media today. Maybe a lot of the local media weren’t able to travel to Indy this year.

You think? I haven't seen any projections, but he seems like a very affordable guy to me. Could be wrong.

Sirianni 'can't guarantee' A.J. Brown back with Eagles in...

Philadelphia Eagles coach Nick Sirianni says there is mutual interest between the team and wide receiver A.J. Brown, but doesn't commit to him playing this year.

Otton makes so much sense given he has blocking ability, familiarity with Grizzard and Howie himself said he failed to put enough emphasis on it this season.

If the Eagles plan to play the comp pick game, especially if Phillips gets an outrageous number, maybe we’re looking at cut candidates. My prediction is Dawson Knox.

Phillips came in and looked good but then disappeared later on

Take that @Eagles
