McLane said the secret meeting was for print beat writers only. So they told ESP to get bent.

No recorders or cameras either. I'm guessing they wanted to put their perspective on all the news that's happened so far.

Nick also said he can't guarantee he'll be the coach.

"I can't guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season. I'm thinking I'm going to be the coach next season but you can't guarantee anything past tomorrow," he said.

Here’s a tough one: eagles mt rushmore for offensive tackles

What makes it hard I think is guys like bob brown (3 1st team all-pros) have to be on it

One idea I can’t get out of my head is the Raiders being players for AJ Brown. Think Mendoza is gonna need A LOT of help before he figures it out in the NFL.

Let’s say the Raiders offer Maxx Crosby for AJ and a 2. We running to accept that?

Don't think NFL trades work that way. You'd get the massive cap hit with Brown then taking on major cap number with Crosby, I don't think the Eagles could even do that trade by league rules unless they cut tens of millions in cap money, which I don't even think is doable since their restructures are tapped out.

Was not a huge fan of what I heard today about meshing new with old and such. It feels like stubborn heads in that coaching room just don't want to take the L on the fact that their offense sucks and can't totally let it go.

Also there seems to be a bit of a gap between how Howie talked about Stoutland and how Sirianni did. Howie was effusive with praise and Sirianni came off more like he was ready to move on.

Chasing the Shanahan scheme has always felt antithetical to the Eagles way of thinking. "If you start doing what everyone else is doing, you’re already too late”

The article said Nick feels Hurts will excel in the Shanahan offense

Man, ESPN clowns itself on an hourly basis. What a misleading headline.

Well, it's smart to utilize things that worked and incorporate them. You can mix things up, disguise things, that sort of thing.

That's all well and good until we hear "We're keeping the hitches because Jalen likes hitches"

I understand the concern, but it’s fairly common to keep concepts that the QB likes. Yes, the scheme sucked last year. That doesn’t mean that every concept sucked. The great thing about evolving in offense is getting to concepts Jalen likes but in different ways — motion, doing so under center, etc.

Good thing to hear. Using TEs with no blocking ability to do mostly nothing but be put out there to block was a huge issue with the offense last year.

Best me to it. Just doing some window dressing can make a big difference to a play’s success.

Lane Johnson, Jason Peters, Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan.

Well, I'm not going to start getting angry about a future hypothetical that hasn't happened.

I'm no X's and O's expert, but even with different schemes, a coach will still pull in different things. Sometimes under center, sometimes shotgun. Teams will throw in trick plays, shovel passes, mix in concepts from other schemes. Remember when Reich reworked the offense for Foles and used things that were successful under Chip Kelly for him? And they pulled out a flea flicker? Or the Philly Special, which was a play other teams ran in the past as well?

It would be foolish to NOT use things the team has run well. Scrap the stuff that doesn't work, embrace the new, and have some wrinkles mixed in that worked well in the past.

Aren't we always saying we want the offensive coaches to be creative, innovative and not predictable?

Peters should have retired when he and everyone knew he declined

I understand that, but you have to be at least a little concerned that there is a chance it may not look a lot different. Don't forget in 2024 when Moore was hired there was talk that "90% of the offense will be different" exact quote. Turns out it wasn't very different at all. I think there's more smoke this time around, especially with Stoutland going. And I do expect it to look different if I had to bet. But a lot of egos are involved and Sirianni is still the head coach and he kept some of his guys. Would I be surprised if it doesn't look close to as different next season as we all hoped? No, I wouldn't be surprised by that. I'm just pointing out, some coaches staying and some talk about meshing old with the new keeps some of those fears alive.

No. There are a lot of EDGE available in free agency. You're better off paying top of market and giving up no picks/players than paying top of market while giving up picks/players.

Could be wrong, but I’d think they’d restructure Crosby at that point , in effect using Jaelan Phillips money plus. I recall Crosby having an advantageous contract for his talent level.

Either way I don’t think we’re getting Crosby, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Raiders made a play for Brown.
