So I guess because of the cap implications it makes sense to re-sign Goedert to an extension for 1 year, and they better also draft a TE and not let that stop them from taking a TE high if they want. The following year that TE entering year 2 takes over as starter and Goedert walks in free agency, we get some type of comp pick perhaps.

I even like the idea of drafting a 2nd TE on day 3 if possible.

Makes sense for Eagles but not really for Goedert

True. But that's what Big Dom is for!

I wonder what Goedert’s market is gonna be. It’s free agency so all it takes is one team to overpay. But he really regressed in blocking last season, had a lot of TDs but didn’t have a lot of yards. I think there was a noticeable drop off and he’s over 30. TEs in that profile typically don’t get paid a ton and it’s a deep TE free agent class.

Bears clearing up cap space

Probably some names to know…

I’ll say 3 for $36M but it’s really a 2 for $20M

Tremaine Edmunds and David Njoku are two weird players you just assume are old. Edmunds played 8 years in the NFL but is currently 27. Njoku played 9 years but is only 29.

I'd do that for Philips.

Those FA signings make no sense. Sign Blankenship for cheaper. Can Taylor-Britt is coming off the trifecta of being benched, being injured with a lis franc and having legal problems all in a span of a month. And then signing an O-linemen for that much to either be a backup or the RG seems silly given all the other needs.

If that’s all he gets I think he could be retained. I think they are going to sign one of him, Jonnu Smith, Njoku, Knox(if cut), possibly Kolar and I think they will all get in that 10-13m range. Maybe Njoku gets a tad less like 8-9. But I think that’s one position the Eagles will spend a decent contract on, unless Phillips leaves then I think they’ll pursue an edge as well. But I don’t think they’ll be going into the draft with Granson tier guys on the roster. They need to draft proof the position.

So should I reapond with a duh or a ditto?

Our TE cupboard is bare and resigning DG makes absolute $ence. DG expressed last season that he had alot of football left and he seemed to prove it (11 TDs).

In fact Zack Ertz thinks he can still play and so can Teavis Kelce.

Kolar at that number would be nuts

Goedert is gone if you believe the majority of the reports. I doubt the Eagles spend big for a TE like Otton or Likely. I'm curious to see if they pivot to Njoku, Ertz, Smith, or take a chance on Kolar having some upside as a receiver in addition to being a stud blocker.

Yeah, LMAO Kolar isn't sniffing 13 million. He's been in the league for four years and has 30 receptions for 409 yards. Great blocker or not, upside as a receiver with a bigger role or not that is laughable. Jonnu Smith isn't sniffing 13 million either. Typical BS from the board's resident know it all.

He’s good and all but this feels kinda ridiculous.

Yeah plus Howie wants comp picks. I thought it was interesting. I'd take Bryant though.

As far as the TE market in free agency goes. The supply will most definitely out weigh the demand eventually which is going to result in some guys missing out on a chair and being bargains.

Isaiah Likely, Cade Otton, Dallas Goedert, Chig Okonkwo, Charlie Kolar, David Njoku, Jonnu Smith, Zach Ertz, etc.

Goedert could be signed in a manner that would shrink his $20M cap hit...a no brainer. There may be around 16 FA TEs, but DG is rated #1 by PFF.

I agree but a lot of insiders are saying he’s a guy who will get a lot more than expected as much as 14m per season. Could be entirely agent driven I’d lose my mind if the Eagles gave him that money.

It's going to be tough to take if we have a very conservative off-season. My vibes aren't all that great going into next week. Really hope Howie has some tricks up his sleeve, we're gonna need them.

It SHOULD be conservative, that means they drafted so well. Just like last year, we know they have great stud defensive players to plan to extend. There are some guys who will likely leave in free agency, some will stay (my expectation is keep Blankenship, extend JD & JC).

They need to get younger players on rookie deals on offense: O line, TE, maybe WR. Add depth at Edge & corner, maybe safety.

From TikTok. Cowboys fan's girl proposed to him, got roasted in the comments.

If they brought back Phillips and waited out two deep markets at TE and S for a couple of bargain type signings it would be a successful free agency period.

It's a pretty good safety class, Blankenship has some intangibles but give me a playmaker back there. I want to push the defense over the top not stay idle. That safety spot is a area we can improve upon this off-season, I'm hoping they do.
