Best punter I saw last year...I didn't watch a ton of games outside of DAL or PHI other than prime time weekday games, but Mann's production last year was outstanding.

He didn't really grade out well according to advanced analytics. His leg was awesome but he struggled a bit with pinning teams deep.

SSHHHH! Just overpay him already.

I have said nothing about guaranteed money. My issue is with the overly aggressive use of void years to push money out further and the risky side effects it may cause. Unlike the trolling ankle taper I know you recognize the difference.

Calling me a troll because you don't really understand what type talking about as well s you think you do? Tough crowd.

Better than Anger...If I remember right he pinned DAL all game long when they played in DAL.

So who is the leading candidate for jersey #0 now that Uche is gone?

Can only be a guy that will be here for exactly 1 year. Give it to Calcaterra

I don't really disagree with you on your point. But to the bolded point:

1) Eating a bit more of the guaranteed money during the life of the contract minimizes the pain in case you have to make a move on the player later

2) Gives you a lever to pull in the event you need to restructure to add a guy or cut the player in question.

Right now we maximize the pain on the back end and have given ourselves no levers to pull if we need an out. Alshon being forced to stick around an extra year or two (while unnecessarily picking up his base salary those years) comes to mind.

Look, you never want to be the Saints and be $100 million over the cap, but that's not us. The simple reality is deferring hits into the future always makes sense in a world where the cap always goes up - it's basically a loan with a negative interest rate. Also, you can roll cap forward that is unused. The primary reason reason we can't move AJ is that 2026 was always planned to be somewhat tight - AJ and likely Barkley are in their last year here, and this is all planned out to transition from offense to defense. The weakness is you will have years like the last 2 where flexibility is limited, and you can't accommodate an unknown diva meltdown.

But really, why is 2026 so tight? We missed on Bryce Huff and have a $16.6mm dead cap charge that we didn't anticipate when signing him in 2024. That is what made this year a pain. Without the Huff debacle, we could move AJ if we wanted. But we screwed up on Huff and are taking that pain.

Its the damn phone, but there should be enough context there for a half intelligent person to figure out... Good luck!

I do think one of Greenard, Chubb, Crosby will be an Eagle. Schefter said Crosby's knee injury was more serious than reported initially though. Had some cartilage damage too. Definitely not giving up a first for him.

Im ok with Chubb.

But an elite edge rusher added to what this defense has been the last few years seems unfair.

Im tempted by that opportunity.

Looking at the CBs we have, and having someone who can speed up the QBs clock as much as Crosby would....

Tantalizing.

I get that, trust me. Don't forget, I was the one here comparing this strategy to a mortgage by borrowing money that is cheap long before anyone else was talking about this aspect of the structure. (Proof that I was in on it early? Because I used mortgage when we were all geting 2.8% loans D ) At the same time, the over use of void years does have impacts. The Lane Johnsons of the team, void away. He's going to be here a long, long time and will see multiple extensions.

But a kicker or someone that is currently in a crowed position "room" (like LB), don't use the void years. You pretty much gain the same efficiencies doing a more standard contract with guarantees, but with a less massive roll up when they do get cut\traded\etc.

Bottom line: You need to weigh in your long term plans for each player because each time you find yourself forced to cut\trade those player, you lose the efficiencies you are laying out.

And that highlights my point. If you go THIS aggressive with void years, you feel a LOT of pain when you miss on a signing. Like I keep saying, you need to nail every contract otherwise you undo the advantage you gain by borrowing from the future.

Sorry if already posted but screw the Ravens

Yes, autocorrect is notorious for poor sentence structure.

Doing this has allowed Howie to afford MORE talent.

You want to see the team making splashes in free agency, that generallymeans they are starting with a less talented roster because they havent squeezed in as many talented players with these contract structures as the eagles have.

You gotta figure out how to make that compute in your brain.

Sirianni

We do a lot of talk about all the defensive players that will need extensions in the next year or two but they are also going to have to do one for DeVonta in the same time frame. Guys like Alec Pierce are surpassing him and lesser receivers like Doubs are getting closer. I've seen some beat writers think he might get one this year, but he still has $36M in guaranteed money so I would prefer to hold off until next offseason.

I wanted Uche back although I knew it wouldn't happen. His play was decent and he was also fine on special teams. He got screwed when BG came back.

It was fine. The real issue was "type" instead of you're, and missing the "a" in "as". But again, there was enough context.

I will follow your lead because the beats dont know what theyre talking about when it comes to that stuff.

So, at the actual FA period opens in a few hours....are we already in bargain bin time?

Who do you want signed (or traded for) that's still out there?

Arnold Ebikitie, Jaquan Brisker? Who else?
