I wouldn't even trade him for a 3rd vs just taking whatever late round comp pick they'd get for him in FA and making sure they have a good QB2 for this season.
2 hours ago2 hr I'm surprised people haven't defended the Dalton move with "Well, if you make him the 2nd string and make McKee the 3rd string, the salaries make a lot more sense" like people do with draft picks. One of my biggest draft peeves is when people go "Well, if you flip flop the picks in the 1st and 2nd round, no one would be complaining." It's one of the dumbest arguments people do around draft time. A reach in the first round doesn't make up for a guy falling to you in the 2nd. Homer nonsense.
2 hours ago2 hr Dalton has barely played in 3 years and turns 39 this NFL season. Brought in Carolina specifically to be a mentor for Young. I'd classify him as a 3rd string QB right now in his journey.

Think you have a case. But the point is Elliott is on the wrong side of 30 and losing steam here. Yes kickers can last awhile, but some lose it kinda early. My main contention was him having no competition and being guaranteed a spot. He's gotten enough rope at this point and you can just see this biting them in the ass. If we had Aubry we probably win 2 more games last year. Should shoot to find someone on that level or close.

Even Justin Tucker had a couple of bad years in-between All-Pro seasons.Mason Crosby had some bad years too, and a lot of good ones.

He's probably washed and hasn't played meaningful football in 3 years. But besides that, like you say, unless its better compensation than a 3rd, it's not worth it. Gives you Jalen insurance with a young guy who could be your next starting QB if the team decides to pivot, maybe for a king's ransom for Hurts (which I don't see happening but like that optionality). It's too hard to find a young starting QB in this league, you hold on to him until you have all the information you need. Don't think we have that right now with all the new systems and coaches coming and not getting a chance to evaluate this situation with this new braintrust. Gotta get overwhelmed for any McKee trade.

They kind of need to develop someone young as well as Dalton will be 41 next year and McKee likely gone, they won’t have anyone besides Hurts in 2027We should draft the N dakota st kid just the make the hurts humpers cry

He moves like claymation.
1 hour ago1 hr I see Delp ran a 4.48, nice. I don’t think Klare can match that, but I believe Ohio State’s pro day is next week.
1 hour ago1 hr Hypothetical case, but if McKee gets similar salary to Malik Willis in free agency, it likely projects to a 3rd rounder from what I've seen. I can imagine someone throwing that kind of money on him with the dearth of young QBs available in free agency.

Andy. That's not ideal when McKee is already on the team and if they did get a 3rd that isn't a ton more than they will get back if he leaves as a FA. Someone will give him 20-25 million. If the goal is to win the division and get a BYE you keep a good QB2 for that vs a 3rd round pick who may or may not turn into something.
45 minutes ago45 min Young first year OC. I think they brought Dalton in to help. Probably having good memories of McCown when he was here.
