March 30Mar 30 Bo and EJ Smith said Howie was surprisingly not as effusive in his praise of the safeties as they thought he'd be so they think another move there is coming and someone of note who can be a real contender to start. Whether it's a pick, signing(of a released veteran), or trade.Howie wasn't talking up Abetiketie as much as they thought, so they think Howie definitely isn't satisfied with the Edge group and will try to make another notable move there.Panthers are covering most of Dalton's salary, so they'll only be on the hook for 1.5m this year, so that's more in line with QB3 salary than originally reported.Howie wants more vertical elements from his depth WRs than they've had in the past. He thinks they've been missing that vertical element to the offense.

This move finally makes some sense as opposed to the 4M number for a QB3.

March 30Mar 30 Didnt even know about this guy. There are a bunch of day 2 and maybe even day 3 DT gems in this class.Cant find much on his pro day from the 27th but theres thisUploading Attachment...

That's Superman kind of stuff...

March 30Mar 30 This, and really the safety position as a whole, was the most interesting thing that came out of last night.
March 30Mar 30 League is offering a 6.45% ANNUAL increase to the refs and want to do away with seniority as a decider in playoffs, more accountability and the refs don’t want any merit to go into decisions or accountability and a 10% raise. That’s nuts. Other than promotions, I can count the number of times I saw an increase anywhere near what is being offered on one hand.Comparing NFL officials with basketball and baseball is crazy. With preseason in both sports, those refs work many more days that the refs in the NFL.

And are they really rejecting accountability? It is thankless work and it should be done by full-time professionals.

If the league can introduce more accountability, relegate the the poor performers to Spring ball and out of the playoffs - that might be worth the $, given how much of it is thrown around the NFL. What's Rodger making these days $60M/yr... and he seems to specialize on making the product worse most of the time. Also, it's a negotiation - I've dealt with municipal unions and without fail they send a delusional proposal over as a starting point... every single time.
March 30Mar 30 The NFL is right to want the playoffs to be officiated by the best refs and others; having long service on a job shouldn't automatically mean you get the sweetest gigs when you are part of a in a multi billion dollar business. Its the sort of stuff that should stay at the amateur level.
March 30Mar 30 I still think, after June 1, if New England offers its 2027 1st, he's gone. Otherwise, he's here.
