It very much is his fault. Bad routes and bullied by DBs. Can't throw to a guy if he can't reliably get to where he's supposed to be.

So our coaches and staff couldn't see that before they traded for him? How dumb are we?

I don’t usually get personal on here, but your post hit me. I’ve been where you are. I’ve had a couple suicide attempts in my past and spent time in inpatient treatment afterward. I’m still in therap

Howie is far from perfect. Devin White is a great example of him chasing a player with pedigree who isn’t any good.

It was a bad trade that's for sure. I don't think there's anyone who would disagree with that in retrospect

Saw a rumor, Vrabel’s trading his eifr

I like the trade. Not saying he comes in and lights the world on fire but 40-50

Catches and a guy who can move the chains is fine in a post AJ Brown world. Pretty obvious Mannion wants to go to a more spread the ball around approach with shorter routes and a downhill run game than he does an offense dominated by 2 primary wide receivers.

So you're both saying that Dotson showed this issue before we traded for him?

He showed issues, yes, but I think Howie thought he was buying low on a player who showed some promise as a rookie and had first-round pedigree.

I see

Draft status means jack squat, especially if a team wants to trade him.

Exhibit A: Jalen Reagor has a 1st round pedigree.

Huh?

Opinions based on three year old combine numbers., for starters. Or saying he’s a bum or a stud, neither of which we can know. The one thing we do know is that Mannion wanted him. I would like to think Mannion thinks he can make him more productive than he has been to date. That would be good. Dismissing him as by saying he stinks, for example, broadcasts bias bordering on ignorance.

Ok, but this is what you said: Obviously this trade was at the behest of Manion. He knows Wicks better than any of us. The opinions thrown around here are absurd, good or bad.

It seemed to me you were saying all opinions were absurd whether they were good or bad. That made no sense to me.

Don’t be absurd

I don't like this Off-Season!!!!!

I thought Dotson was open quite a bit. If you throw the ball 9 times it’s hard for the 4th option (if you count Goedert) to get looks.

I think it is completely reasonable to be extremely underwhelmed by likely replacing AJ Brown in part with a WR that has vastly below average athleticism for the position who has been in the league for 3 years and done nothing of note with a linear decline in production since rookie year. Add to that the Eagles track record of identifying unproven talent at WR and it's 100% fair to be skeptical, bordering on completely dismissive.

Wicks has one of the worst drop rates in the NFL. Dotson wasn't bad. Much better hands. They only threw to him about twice a game, anyway. But if we need a clutch 3rd down catch, Dotson is much less likely to drop the ball.

I like Wicks but yes. It feels like people are arguing over the backup fullback. We are talking about guys that are rarely going to see the ball if AJ and Devonta or still here with Hurts. If not then you would think they have other plans for WR1 or 2 other than these guys.

Agreed. I think at some point in the future it will be a good move but it is several years away.

I could be wrong but it seems highly unlikely that AJ replacement is currently on the roster.

You're not wrong. Wicks is a replacement for Dotson, not AJ Brown. Nowhere in this universe is Wicks a viable replacement for AJ.

The replacement for AJ is Smitty. Then, ya just fill the WR room with ok players. 🤓

5th round pick, 6th round pick, and 12mm is not a negligible investment, especially for a cap strapped team. He's part of the AJ replacement plan, which will also involve 1 year of Hollywood Brown and a pricey draft pick. The net cost is going to be something like 20mm, 1st or 2nd round pick, 5th round, 6th round (offset by a 2nd and 4th round compensation) all for an aggregate that will be a massive downgrade.

Then Lane's replacement is Mailata.

Hmmmmm, could be. We shall see. Gotta assume this is Lane's last season.

The O Line needs some work. Ugh. 🫣🫣

When you put it that way…

This is an interesting trade for multiple reasons, but I’m particularly interested in the desire to bring in a mid tier contract player, which Howie has seemingly avoided like the plague. Wicks’ contract comes out to, what, 2 years $15 million? Mannion definitely has some pull right now.

Top 10 worst run franchises in football:

  1. Jets

  2. Dolphins

  3. Browns

  4. Cardinals

  5. Bengals

  6. Saints

  7. Panthers

  8. Giants

  9. Jaguars

  10. Falcons

I really think the dolphins are an even bigger crap show than Cleveland; the media just ignores them more
