I think he’s gone after this year though. If we traded for a guy like Brian Thomas Jr. I wouldn’t be opposed to it since he’s on a rookie contract.

March 15Mar 15 It’s crazy how fast eagle fans turn their backs on an extremely talented player…was he upset last year…yup….all of us were frustrated with the offense…AJ wasn’t the problem, even with him coming out with the frustrations…did he have some drops, yup, sucked, but, he is the type that will come back and work his ass off and get better, clean it up if you will…He isn’t TO…He hasn’t been a distraction for those who remember TO (who I sided with)But AJ is a class guy who just wants to win. He’s been here for four years and you eagle fans that want him gone, have short term memory..We CANNOT let this superstar walk..no one out there available can make up the production if he leaves…Smitty will not be as good without AJ..and vice versa…Everyone needs to chill, let AJ show he can still dominate this year…he should retire an eagle..

I don't know how anybody could argue otherwise. He was a storyline week after week and his teammates and coaches were bombarded with media questions regarding his "situation" the entire year. That is the epitome of distraction. The, "just wants to win" claim was debunked by AJ himself. He wasn't happy with the wins. He wants to dominate his matchup. There's a huge difference. Barkley and Hurts are examples of players that just want to win.Smith will be just as good a player regardless of players on the field with him. You can argue that AJ makes the offense better and I'd agree, but he doesn't make Smith "better." I'm fine with AJ staying and I'm fine with him leaving --- especially if that's what he wants. I don't really like the idea of him being a team captain, though, if he can't figure out how not to be a distraction.

I'm not sure why people keep saying Smith won't be as good without AJ.

Smitty’s worst games are when AJ has a ton of yards and his best games are when AJ doesn’t play. Last year the Eagles best offensive be game was against the Giants when AJ didn’t play. They beat our butts when he did. Anecdotal but there is zero evidence Devonta will struggle without him.

Confident that Smith would flourish at WR1. The issue is we have no depth. This team has Super Bowl aspirations. Cooper and Wilson are interesting 4/5 receivers with upside, but we can’t go into season with them and a rookie or two supporting Smith. Unless we make a move for Jennings, Samuel or Diggs which seems unlikely, it makes sense to play nice with Brown for one more year.
March 17Mar 17 Author That pretty much eliminates one potential suitor (Denver was rumored to be in the mix).

I can just as easily see him staying here another year as I can us moving him (most likely to the Pats now with Denver having dealt for Waddle and LA reportedly backing out ... guessing since they were unable to deal Adams). I will say this, we are a better team with him than we would be without him ... but that also takes into consideration that he plays hard like he did the first few years here ... can't have him dogging it like he did last season.

I'm betting he'll like the new offense and all of the receivers will be happy with something new and not so many hitch routes with the simplistic scheme
