Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

Just took my 15 year old daughter out to a school parking lot to drive for the first time. Kept telling myself, I survived the boys, I can survive this. I gotta be honest though, I’m not convinced.

Great right at the inlet between AC and Brigantine. Real close to the beach.

Anyone here own a plug-in vehicle and have pros/cons thoughts? Returned to the office (technically "started” for me, since our MN office is new to me) and the parking lot has a dozen or so free plug-in parking spaces. Work is 4-5 miles from my apartment and 95% of my driving so far has been within a 10mi radius of my apartment, so with 4-5 days at the office now, it may take me 3-6 months just to go through a tank of gas with one of those 20ish mile electric range PHEVs.

Are you sure those plugs are for electric vehicles? If it's in Minnesota those plugs might be for engine block heaters so your car doesn't freeze up.

Electric vehicles work great in cold weather, too. It’s Minnesota, though, so you shouldn’t have to worry about that for, at least, a couple more weeks.

lol. yes. So far only people with Tesla's/Volts/etc have parked there (only about 5-6 spots seem to ever be in use) and its signed "Electric Vehicle Parking" right next to the signed "Motorcycle Parking". Those people get all the prime spots in the lot nearest the building!

I have temp-controlled garaged parking at my apartment, but once the weather turns it would be an added bonus to not have to trek 200-300 yards through the parking lot to a frozen car when leaving work.

Can you remote start those electric cars and get the heater running?

This one I’m looking at is a plug-in hybrid, so it still has a 300mi+ range gas engine. I don’t know if the engine starts (European… lots of remote start limitations), but it can remotely turn on heated seats and steering wheel.

Make sure whatever you buy has a strong warranty for the battery and check out the trunk space. If you need a lot of trunk space it's probably not the style of car you want.
