November 7, 20223 yr I apologize to anyone who read my avocado post yesterday on here before I deleted it. Sometimes I'm drunk.

We have a slightly narrower space for ours. Can only go up to 33'' wide. At that size, notably the LG brand offered significantly larger cubic feet of storage space than any other brand. So we went with LG. Well, its already broken. It was delivered in June of 2020. And it is broken. Freezer doesnt freeze. Fridge isnt cold enough either, and smells like chemicals- wondering if it leaked refrigerant. 5 year warranty on some parts. 10 year warranty on the linear compressor. But guess what- no one services LGs. They gave us the number for 3 different service centers. The closest one said they dont service LG products. The next one had a number that was out of service. And the 3rd one was over an hour away and said (obviously) they dont service our area. We have had a cooler with ice on our floor for over a week now for bottled waters and such, and went out and purchased a mini-fridge for perishable stuff while we wait for LG to find someone to service it. Supposedly if this goes on for 15 days without being able to have it repaired, we can eventually just get refunded for the fridge (Ill believe that when we see it). So we will see. But to go that long without a fridge, and for them to not be able to service it is crazy. This is a word of warning. We wont ever buy another LG appliance. Lemme ask........ before you made this ill fated choice...... Would you have bought a Maytag cell phone ?

Anyway- thats the lesson I came to realize. I heard not great things about Samsung fridges. This LG obviously sucks. So I said, next one is going to be an old school fridge brand. Whirlpool, Frigidaire.... something like that. People who have made fridges forever. Not cell phones and then fridges. We have a frigidaire on order from Home Depot. But hoping maybe this one can get fixed and put in the basement for some surplus stuff. Or get a refund and buy a 2nd. We have had 2 break in 10 years so at this point, we have decided it will be good to have a 2nd as backup.
November 7, 20223 yr I'm married 30+ years..... first 5 years were hand me downs from family.... then we bought our own junk. The last 2 years we replaced everything simply due energy efficiency. An Amana fridge that I could not get a door seal for, Ge stove became a hand me down, Whirlpool washer that I couldn't even find a new timer online for it, and so on. Now on the flip side we have had our 55 inch Samsung tv for over 10 years. It sucks to navigate these things..... but unless you truly do not care about money......

I have the same 33” restriction due to built in cabinets and pantry on both sides, so I bought this in February https://www.samsung.com/us/home-appliances/refrigerators/4-door-french-door/25-cu--ft--large-capacity-4-door-french-door-refrigerator-with-external-water---ice-dispenser-in-stainless-steel-rf25hmidbsr-aa/

That's probably what I'll end up getting if my current fridge takes a crap. I like that middle drawer.

So we'll see you in 3 years b******* on this thread. While you're at it make sure you pick up your next car from LG. But I'm betting you would buy a cell phone from Ford if they threw one out. Just kidding man....... but I try to stay in the lane of manufacturer strengths.
November 7, 20223 yr I could be wrong but I think I recall @paco in here lamenting a Samsung fridge - if not him I recall someone ****ing about them

Another thing we decided to avoid this time other than cell phone brands is the bottom freezer. Ours had that and always frosted up. Others we know with one, even different brands had the same issue. I dont like side by side, but we went back to that...

The fridge was absolute crap. Ice maker always froze over. Middle drawer would fill up with water for some reason. If the power went out I would have to be johnny on the spot to reset it because it would otherwise just blink angerly at me. When we were in FL for baby girl, I saw a report about a class action suit on our exact model but I never followed up on it. We also had a Samsung stove that we loved, but I recently had to replace the heating element on it. Oh, and my dad had a Samsung dishwasher. Crapped out just after the year warranty. Took my dad forever to find a repairman and the dude flat out told him that he could repair it, but in the long run it would be more cost effective to buy a replacement that is not Samsung. Apparently the dishwashers were notoriously bad. So yeah, @HazletonEagle should absolutely buy Samsung appliances.
November 7, 20223 yr we have a samsung stackable washer/dryer set & the dryer started shutting off. luckily it was still under warranty & we got it fixed...but sheet shouldn't start going wrong with an appliance in the first year.

November 7, 20223 yr Speaking of things that can eat my ass: Leaves. Our new house has several old oak and maple trees out front. I love them 11 months out of the year. Beautiful and provide a ton of shade. But the maples conspired to drop all their leaves in like a 5 day window. I thought, no problem, I'll get the blower out and my leaf scoops and i'll be done in 2 hours. 5 hours and 18 bags later my Saturday was cooked. Fast forward to this weekend and all the oaks decided to start dropping their leaves. I'm trying to remodel a kitchen and take care of an 18 month old, so my front yard is now an absolute mess, again. I can't afford to spend an entire day collecting leaves AND I need to empty out my garage since we are getting our Mach-E soon. (I still have 10 bags from last time). So I broke down and bought this: And this: I'm hoping that this will cut the time down and get 18 bags down to 1-2. We'll see.
November 7, 20223 yr My 3 year old Whirlpool fridge has been serviced 7 times. In 3 years. Always for the same 2 issues: LED lights blowout and the ice makers don’t work.

One of the best purchases I ever made was a backpack leaf blower to replace my electric one. I have no answer for bagging. I've found picking them up by hand to be 10x faster than trying to use that worx mulcher. Before that I had a thing that attached to the garbage can too. That was also a pain to deal with, and not efficient as it looked in theory. Bagging sucks. But as far as blowing them in to a pile or all the way the hell across the yard or wherever, the power of the backpack blower is a game changer. Just at least saving time on that part of the job makes a difference.

Samsung has a big refrigerator problem, including a faulty icemaker design that has resulted in recalls and lawsuits. I agree that those kimchi eating wankers can lick my man-minge.

Ever had to hold a hairdryer to an icemaker for an hour to defrost it, spend 50 quid on some special temperature resistant epoxy, and then hope that the whole thing holds so you don't have to get a whole new reefer because your piece of pacific rim rubbish broke one week out of warranty like it was on a schedule? Well... have you? HAVE YOU?
