Was your first car a Yugo?

My 1st car was a 1977 Oldsmobile Omega lovingly called the Imperial Star Cruiser.  My 1st brand new car was a 1988 Honda CRX DX.  That car was a lot of fun and made my insurance company a lot of money.

    Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

  • Proud of this girl.  Eleventy billion push ups, sit ups, squats, mountain climbers, jumping jacks, planks, combinations, self defenses and weapon katas later in the cold and wind she earned her black

  • I was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer in November. They removed my thyroid gland right before Thanksgiving. Post surgical blood test showed a thyroid globulin number of a 6, which is above the threshold

ChatGPT, Write me a story about Mr Hunt from NEPA (who looks like Rocky Dennis) learning how to code, which leads to a bromance between he and Paco from the Eagles Message Board. Then they make applesauce together

Sent this to schmoopie. I haven’t seen her laugh that hard in a long time :roll:

idk why but that part got me :lol:

for me it was the "rhythmic chopping sounds"

A scary situation happened to one of my brothers a couple of days ago where he was out, away from his home, and suddenly didn't know where he lived, where he was, how he got there or how to get home. The only thing he could remember was my phone number, but as luck would have it, he'd left his cell phone at home. That lasted for 10 or 15 minutes and then he was back to normal.

When he got home, he called me and I suggested that maybe a stroke or mini-stroke could be what caused this. After we hung up, he went to the ER. The CT scan showed no evidence of stroke, but they kept him for observation. That night, his heart stopped for about 25 seconds. Then a few hours later, it did it again. So now he's the proud owner of a new pacemaker.

That's what caused his confusion while he was out. His heart stopped, so blood flow to his brain stopped, which gave him a mini amnesia of sorts. Scary stuff.

do you think it would be realistic for a total noob to jump right into python first?

Similar level of difficulty as learning Java, Javascript, etc IMO. There is a learning curve to overcome for any of those, but once you get one you can jump to the others pretty easily.

And I honestly don't think learning HTML first would then help you move to any of those to be honest. That's not to say don't do HTML first, do whatever, I just don't think they translate.

Edit: The ONLY way learning HTML can help ease you into other programming languages is if you learn HTML then Cold Fusion, and pretty much no one uses that :lol:

Was looking through some Azure courses and stumbled upon this.  May be a good introduction to Python for you

The great thing about Python is that it's perfect for doing just that

Since it's an interpreted language you can just fool around with commands right in the console - like in the old days of BASIC - until you're comfortable.

And your first program doesn't have to be structured, or mess with objects, etc. It can just be a perfectly linear algorithm of commands.

Then, when you're ready, you start writing functions.

Don't know how to do something? Someone else has certainly done it. Just google or jump on stack exchange. You could make a whole piece of functional software just from other peoples' code snippets.

Quote

n = 1
while n <= 69:
    print('lindy booth')
    n += 1

does it have to be a full time CVS employee or could it just be someone with a CVS down the block ?

Man, that is scary.  Sorry to hear that VA.  I hope your brother will be OK.

Thanks, he got the pacemaker put in and they told him that he'll be fine now.

Ironic sort of thing, of the 4 of us brothers, he's always been the one that was most into fitness and health and such. Not that the rest of us completely neglected/ignored all of that. But he's always been much more active on that front.
