Fine! But to take it out was an in office procedure where they had to stick a scope up your pee hole to grab the stent and pull it out. While you are awake. They tell you it doesnt hurt. They tell you to relax. Its horrible. Literally I had nightmares after that. The 2nd surgery, different doctor. I had a stent with an external wire. 1 week of absolute hell. It was like a very thick fishing wire that would ALWAYS be against your pants. ALWAYS unconfortable. I planned on working a day or 2 after my surgery like I did the first time. This time? I unexpectedly had to take vacation time for the entire week. I fee balled it in loose sweatpants, and did not leave my house that week. Torture 100% of every waking second. At the end of that week, you get to pull the stent out yourself at home! So you have mental anguish looking forward to that the whole week while you are experiencing the physical torture as well. When the time finally comes to yank it, you feel like you are in one of the saw movies. Such a cruel, cruel thing to make someone do (if youve never experienced it). The good bit of news at the end of this story is that it was actually very easy and not all that bad to pull out. But man was I psyched out about doing that. It took a long time to work up the courage. In the end, there is no good kidney stone surgery because one way or the other, either type of stent is a nightmare to deal with.I don't know, man. If these are my options I may just go down with the ship. ☹️Maybe I can beat some kind of stone size record.1 hour ago, wholesale_Melvin said:I'm doing well and feeling fine.I'm gonna pm you my x-ray. Just think in that saw voice, "You have a steel fishing wire handing out your D hole. For the past week its been cutting in to your flesh causing you immense discomfort which will only get worse if it is not removed. You are the only one who can stop the string from slowly and painfully cutting through your meat. Attached to that string, 3 feet of thick plastic tubing is fished up through your D, and coiled up inside of your bladder. You must pull that string until all of the tubing is removed from deep inside of your manhood. Or live with the painful consequences. Good luck.

After the 2nd one, I started taking water with me to work so I could drink through out the day. I don't drink a lot of soda or tea. No coffee. So I don't think those were culprits. I think i just didn't drink enough water. I'm hoping that is the trick. It's been longer than 5 years now since my last one. I really hope never again. I'm not afraid of the kidney stone pain. I'm more afraid of the stent.

May 25May 25 I’m sure some folks here have some experience with aging loved ones becoming senile. Apologies for dredging up old memories, but how many "mistakes” are you supposed to let go before you start to take it more seriously?

Couple of years ago searched the neighborhood frantically for my missing mother. Found her trying to climb a ladder onto a stranger's roof. Next was a trip to the doctor.

Mine is still fairly benign, calling the wrong people, forgetting things we just talked about, stuff like that. I'd like to think I can intervene before it gets to what you went through but it's a very delicate line to walk when talking to a loved one about potentially giving up some independence.

At one point we had to intervene for her own health and it wasn't pretty. You end up reversing roles where they're the child and you're the parent. One thing I can't recommend strongly enough is that while the elderly parent is still coherent and able to sign paperwork, to make sure that whoever is in line to care for them, be they yourself or another relative, has all of the appropriate powers of attorney to be able to make medical and financial decisions on their behalf once they're incapacitated. If you wait to do that, it could really bite you in the arse.

May 30May 30 I had to take a drug test for work yesterday. I show up to my appointment early to see if I could get out faster. Nope, they were short staffed and only had one bathroom so I had to way 20 minutes. During that 20 minute wait:1) I heard loud grunting over and over again from one of the exam rooms on the other side of the wall. Followed by what sounded like a shop vac. This repeated two more times.2) One dude who was extremely jittery kept entering and exiting the waiting room the entire time I was there.3) 3 undocumented workers came in and sat down without checking in. When one of the employees came out to call someone else in, she looked at them and asked what they were here for and if they had an appointment (short staff so, they weren't accepting walk ins). It kind of went like this:"Nurse": Do you have an appointmentThe one that spoke English: No, the doctor sent us"Nurse": Who sent you?The one that spoke English: The doctor"Nurse": Which doctor? The one that spoke English: (hands "Nurse" the slip)"Nurse": I don't know who this isThe one that spoke English: The doctor(I'll fast forward past the part where she was trying to figure out how the test would be paid for)"Nurse": (reads the slip, leaves the room)5 Minutes later"Nurse": Do you have the stool sample? The one that spoke English: Yes"Nurse": What did you use to collect itThe one that spoke English: From the doctor"Nurse": When did you collect it?The one that spoke English: Today"Nurse": When Today? The one that spoke English: Before we came here"Nurse": Did you collect it a while ago or recently? The one that spoke English: (blank stares)"Nurse": Has it been sitting around for a while? The one that spoke English: No"Nurse": When did you collect it?The one that spoke English: This afternoon"Nurse": How long ago?The one that spoke English: 45 minutes"Nurse": (exasperated) come on in...I bring this up because I got an survey 5 minutes ago from Qwest asking me how my experience was, I don't think they meant this
