Just got back from my mother's oncologist. They're really happy with the results of her latest CT Scan. All of the cancer has reduced a little. So a really good report.

I was stoked. I immediately ran a load of dishes and said "Do we have enough towels for the washer" before running upstairs to shred some mail.

Apparently there is an anonymous COVID-19 hotline for the NFL in case any players or coaches are breaking protocol.  Any snitches remain anonymous.  How can we get that number?

I’ve been doing projects for power companies for the past 11 years now. I have to sit in workshops and go through their business processes and hear their decisions behind them. One thing they do is consistently under promise to be on the safe side. They told us we would not get power until 11 pm tonight and we got it back at 10 pm yesterday.

Hang in there

They did send out another message and it's now today 8/6 by 11 pm.  So, hopefully it will be soon.  Office is open today, so when the thing ran out of gas, I left!

12:02pm finally.  Thunderstorms in the forecast.

On previous advice I’m onto the next issue here-where is that sewer gas smell coming from?  We had a clogged pipe from the house to the tank that was snaked before mr Di died and since then it is an intermittent smell.  After the storm It was prominent!  I fear it is affecting my health. I definitely had a headache that day. The windows have been opened since.

I watched some you tubes and am checking the traps.  No clue what I’m doing.  Is it the shower?  I don’t see reflection of water when shining the flashlight on that drain.  If a basement light is on it shines up thru -does that mean anything? How about I leave a little water in the tub today. I need to close windows in case of rain and see if it smells when I get home?  Would that be a clue?

Called the landlord as well.  No call back.

Could also be that the "stink pipe" on the roof is clogged somehow. Does everything flush okay? That said, yes, the landlord needs to deal with the issue.

Do you have a grinder pump? If the power is out and that's not running stuff may be backing up.

We have that issue here.  Have to be careful about using water in a power outtage so be don't back it up.

It's a crazy set up.  Me and my neighbors bldg. and the bldg. w/2 units out back goes into the tank first, and then it gets pumped up to the street.  We have city water/sewer.  While the power was out I called to let LL know-- in the event the pump needed a generator hooked up before we all got backed up.  We never did, and I never heard back from him. Power since restored.  No issue flushing! I always remind my neighbors to take it easy on the water during an outage.

I remember Mr. Di would always check the pump and tanks first if things weren't moving.  In over 30 years I have never had this smell inside the house.  It comes and goes, but now I'm afraid to have the place closed up running AC and I am possibly breathing in toxins all night long.  Why is it only so prominent when conditions outside are rainy and humid?  During our heat waves, I was asking people coming in to visit me if they smelled anything, and nothing.  Surely no one would lie about that smell!!!! Surely they wouldn't come back and they have!?

I left water in the tub, shut the  door, but left that window open some.  With the rest of the house closed when I get home I will see if I can smell anything.  If I do, then it's not the shower trap.  Don't ask me why I went there first, I just did.  Will have someone check the vent pipe on the roof.  I'm not doing or going anywhere this weekend until I have a resolution.  You know me and one thing I excel at is jumping up and down!!!

Thank you all for your assistance.  I'll let you know what it is.

You all have power?  I’m out again. Horrible storm right at the evening commute -generator still outside -I can hook that bish up again if I have to. F this day too.   Seems to be a trend.  I need a vacation.  Can’t do that /pandemic.  Jesus quit it!

Will I set the place on fire if I fall asleep and forget to light a new one?  Maybe I should just walk around and sleep with one of those head lamps on my head!
I can’t concentrate!   I just took an alka  seltzer with melatonin. Hopefully I’ll be here kicking arse in the morning.  It’s f’ng humid as ish too. Spits!!  No smell. At least not much.  Wtf? !!!

Beer still cold seeing as I drank the wine I’m having one.  Had another alka seltzer. Nothing.  Can’t sleep.  Crickets.  Son is fixing a driveway at a mushroom plant. Just like his Dad.  It’s all about saving the crop ! The world needs a powerless fan!   Peco estimate says tomorrow by 11 pm- I won’t make another hour without my fan!   So I’m up for awhile.  Got work to do.  Hook it all back up!  It’s not that hard actually   Just dark.

We are out again too. Literally hours after I got all our food back home.  😕

Power on around 6 am this morning so I rolled over and went back to sleep.  This is exhausting!
Turning the ac back on, some music to help get chores done. Landlord will be here tomorrow.  He’s down in Lewes eating crabs today! I’ve eliminated the shower trap.  Not the source.  I feel it’s a pipe or a busted clean out in the ground out back.

I thought the EMB fam might appreciate this. While on vacation, I came across this hand-drawn map of Philadelphia produced by S. Augustus Mitchell in 1875, replete with a certificate of authenticity. It is an original pastel work created for Mitchell's New General Atlas. Note the islands between Philly and Camden, as well as the inclusion of multiple wharves along the Delaware that have been long-since demolished. There are also an interesting amount of streets that have either been eliminated or undergone name changes. I found this piece among a slew of other historical maps at Art Source International in Boulder, CO. Some of the other maps were older, but this one's condition was outstanding. I bought it on the spot and carried it on the plane home, which appropriately landed in Philly.

Wow.  That was before Camden was a sheethole.
