What the heck do you non mustard people put on dogs and brats?

Well, I'm not poor, so I don't eat hot dogs. At a baseball game, maybe ketchup but usually plain.

Sauerkraut on brats.

I feel like we have this conversation every year and we make jokes about your BBQs are only steak and lobster.

Nothing for brats/sausages and ketchup for hot dogs

You know, I used to think you were cool. Ketchup on a hot dog? I thought people stopped doing that once their got done grade school? (and yes, my wife puts ketchup on hot dogs and I ask her the same thing every time)

Gotta be honest, can't remember the last time we used the grill. If we have people over, we just order out or, for a larger group, get it catered. Know a pretty good chef that will do catering - used her for Thanksgiving this past year. So much better than dealing with my wife stressing out about cooking.

I mean, you're eating a hot dog, so you're already proving that (i) you're a child and (ii) you hate yourself. Don't think the ketchup/mustard moves the needle on that.

I actually enjoy grilling/cooking. I swear I'm not poor!

Sauerkraut on brats.

I do like Sauerkraut. I only ever eat them at a ball game or BBQ. We are having a memorial day get together and Ill do some beer brats and some nathans dogs in addition to burgers.

I'm not a huge mustard guy but certain things need mustard

Chicken fingers - honey mustard (only eaten when Im drunk at the bar which is very rarely)

Ham or Turkey Sammich - spicy brown, or dijon

Dogs and Brats - Yellow mustard

Burgers - 2 dots of yellow on top of the ketchup

Soft pretzels - spicy brown

Liverwurst - yellow mustard and onions (my wife put her foot down on this when we got married, so I dont eat it anymore)

You guys will be relieved to know that I also put ketchup on my burgers and then I proceed to dip the burger before each bite to make sure the ketchup to burger ratio is never out of balance.

This I approve of.

You could give me $10M today and I'd still wake up tomorrow to make french toast for my kids, grill my own steaks, make homemade pasta sauce, etc. Weeknights are tough because of scheduling, but cooking is a hobby for me so I'd still go to work on weekends to please the fam.

You a Dutchie ? My brother-in-law’s family were. He loved the stuff. My sister hated it. Off subject, I had 3 years of German in HS and would try to talk to him while he spoke Pennsylvania Dutch, couldn’t keep up, so I would always say "Du bist ein Esel”. He had the best laugh afterwards.

Yes! My grandfather on my mom's side.

My Irish wife can't believe anyone would eat such a thing, but I grew up on liverwurst sammiches.

My list isn't as extensive. Chicken fingers can be topped with most anything: BBQ, buffalo/ranch, etc. Brats are good with roasted pepper/onion, it doesn't have to have mustard on it. Soft pretzels can be plain... But yeah, I do agree some things need mustard. Cuban sandwiches (ham and pork). Certainly. And I have taken a liking to Chicago dogs dragged through the garden - it needs mustard. No ketchup. nonono

Ham sandwich - I don't eat ham (not religious reasons, just not a fan of ham but love bacon)

Turkey sandwich - mayo

Dogs and brats - plain

Burgers - ketchup and mayo

Soft Pretzels - plain

Liverwurst - NO

Chicago style dogs are every bit as bad as plain but in the other direction. There's 2 best ways to eat hot dogs people, mustard & chopped onions or chili & saurkraut. Mayo & relish are also acceptable toppings. Ketchup is for mediocre french fries or mayo-ketchup, that's it.

Yes but there are certain times when a hot dog fits the context, like when you're at a baseball game (which is basically the few times a year my wife might eat a hot dog)

same.    I've recently gotten really into making scones, and they have been turning out friggen delicious.   So far I've done plain english scones, and lemon scones.  The lemon scones are amazing, never doing plain again.   Still need to try blueberry scones and orange scones.  Also chocolate chip scones.

I read this in Ron Swanson voice.

It's ok but it's redundant. I already put a tomato. And it drowns out the better condiments mustard and mayo.

I'm sure your husband enjoys them.

it's a joke. A joke, i love scones.

Not as much as you like D, but I love scones.

My daughter's favorite all-purpose condiment is the dipping sauce from Raising Cane's. She puts that sheet on everything. Fries, burgers, even just on a plain piece of toast like a psycho. I didn't even like it to dip the chicken in but it's starting to grow on me a bit too where I'll dip every other bite lightly in it.

Raising cane's sauce is good - like a better version of Big Mac sauce. I haven't really figured out the formula yet. Definitely a good amount of black pepper in there. You can see it.

Chick-fil-a sauce is pretty good too. It is essentially honey mustard + barbecue sauce.

Excuse me, you're off topic here
