It will be painful watching the first 22 picks tomorrow but he made the right choice. One of those 4ths could have come in handy moving up but Howie will do a good job.

I agree with you completely. This isn't a super strong or deep draft but there are still going to be good options left for the Eagles in round 2. After that it gets somewhat thinner. We'll see.

Some of yall are wild…this guy screams agholor 2.0

Now I didn’t really have an issue with agholor, but the same wild fans that screamed about getting agholor out are the same ones cheering this pick…

I ain’t mad at the pick…but some of yall got short term memory issues and need to go back and watch agholor draft tape…you’ll see the same crap..

Also, this dude is a slot receiver…so saying he’s gonna replace brown is an absolute joke….

Yeah I bet the eagles would love the Toledo S or an OL but not sure they’d want to trade the high 3.

Given that they expect picks from AJ next year maybe they would do something

Yep. Plus one 3 may be going to Minn

Did he win best WR in college? Was he projected to go top 13 on most boards? Tenn tried to draft an AJ clone and it didn't work. Howie drafted a guy with a ton of talent and things will look differently and that's not a bad thing. Replace him? No. Add as much talent as possible to the room? Yeah.

I don't watch or follow college at all, so I know nothing about this player. What's the general thought/feeling on him?

Different WR than Brown. Lots of talent and catches everything, dog, smart, finds space.

With AJ Brown's impending departure, the Eagles get an NFL-ready receiver who plays with a similar physicality - even if he doesn't have Brown's size. Lemons has very few weaknesses outside of his size and should be able to step into a slot role and be productive from Day 1.

20: Philadelphia Eagles (via Cowboys): Makai Lemon, WR, USC

Rang: The speculation concerning A.J. Brown’s future (or lack thereof) in Philadelphia will only intensify with this selection. Lemon lacks Brown’s size but plays with great physicality and competitiveness. As a receiver, runner (on reverses) and returner, Lemon will quickly prove a fan — and more importantly, Jalen Hurts’ — favorite. I love the aggression of the Eagles to trade up with the Cowboys and get Lemon, who likely would’ve come off the board a pick later to the Steelers.

20. Philadelphia Eagles (from DAL via GB): Makai Lemon, WR, USC

Lemon has some size limitations and isn’t a burner, but he might be the most quarterback-friendly receiver in the class. He’s always open, finishes in the air despite that relative lack of size, never rounds off routes, runs back to the football, blocks — you get everything Lemon has, all the time. I wouldn’t be surprised if he out-performs this slot.

Philadelphia Eagles get AJ Brown replacement in Makai Lemon?

Dane Brugler, Robert Mays and more

He reminds me of a smaller version of former USC star Amon-Ra St. Brown and could be a huge asset for Jalen Hurts as the Eagles look to make their QB more comfortable. I’m not sure I’d have traded up, but I like the player.

Well, there's clearly a post-A.J Brown plan being enacted in Philadelphia. No one will confuse Lemon with the bulky Brown, but he could help an Eagles offense facing plenty of uncertainty on firmer ground. The Biletnikoff Award winner can provide Jalen Hurts with instant solutions in the underneath to intermediate area while allowing DeVonta Smith to become the attack's featured player. If June wasn't already circled for an expected deal, it should be now.

A-hole from Yahoo who gave moat teams bad grades but the Vikings an A 🤣

20. Philadelphia Eagles (via trade with Cowboys and Green Bay Packers): Makai Lemon, WR, USC

Grade: C

Lemon should be a quality starter for the Eagles and this probably shows that A.J. Brown will be headed elsewhere at the start of the summer. This will be an interesting fit for the Eagles with Jalen Hurts moving from Brown to Lemon (should that trade happen), but this will keep starting quality talent in their wide receiver room, which was a priority for the Eagles this offseason.

Meh, well see i guess.

So I can’t say I heard much of him during the build up process. There was a lot more focus on Tate, Tyson and Boston. I even heard more about Cooper Jr and Concepcion than I did Lemon.

Sounds like most the analysts think we’ve got a DAWG. Sounds like most think we’ve gotten a bit of a steal too. And they think he projects more in the slot? Which is important but not exactly ideal? Especially with a QB who doesn’t like to throw over the middle.

But he doesn’t have great size? He doesn’t have great speed? He’s an elite route runner and he doesn’t shy away from the physical side. But he’s not a replacement for AJ.

So all in all sounds like he’s a really good WR but there are concerns there. But we shall see because these draft picks are always a bit of a lottery.

Not calling Lemon an AJ replacement because that’s disingenuous to AJ, but this pick does make me feel better about the Eagles WR room with AJ certainly gone next month.

After the Mannion hire & drafting Lemon, I definitely am way more intrigued by the offense this year.

I agree.

Just get rid of Sirianni and Hurts and the transition will be complete.

Oh great. A slot WR. Hurts doesn't even know what that is.

The part that pains me most about dealing those two 4ths is that now with only 5 picks remaining, you just know Howie is going to want to swing deals to add more. Our pick could roll around (say 54) and the perfect player is sitting there (say EMW who would be perfect next to Mukuba and most certainly fills a need) BUT Howie will pass on him only because he feels extra 5th or 6th rd picks are more important. He does it every year ... that drives me batshit crazy. We end up with players like McCord, Hinton, Williams, Powell-Ryland (2 of which aren't even on the roster anymore and the others aren't likely to stick either).

NOTE to Howie: just stay put and take the damn player that IS almost certainly going to be on the roster and have a major role and not get cute thinking you are going to unearth more of those unlikely gems like Mailata.

Makai Lemon - Tough, Fearless, Very physical, really good blocker, great hands, 50/50 winner, creates separation without great speed, breaks tackles, football junkie.

Height

5'11 1/8"

Weight

192 lbs

40 Time

4.48

Sounds like another guy who had a nice 14 year career:

Hines Ward - Tough, Fearless, Very physical, really good blocker, great hands, 50/50 winner, creates separation without great speed, breaks tackles, football junkie.

Height

6'0"

Weight

205 lbs

40 Time

4.55

He might not be as psycho as Ward was but for a WR2? Yeah, I think Lemon is a fine prospect.

Ewwwwww.

Gross.

I hear you. I think they tried to move up last year but couldn't. Might be the case this year as well. The lack of 4's hurts. I definitely could see a move back from 54 now if they can't get an EMW or one of their preferred OL prospects

I'm OK with moving down if there are no players that fall to you that are rated fairly highly and would be good fits, but Howie starts getting too cute with the moves. He'll then trade down again and then again and we end up with a pick in round 1, 1 pick in round 3, and 8 picks in rounds 6 and 7.

Reagor sucked, Smith hit. Agholor was Chip. Who am I forgetting as a 1st round WR that Howie took?

Small sample size but that's all you get in the first round

Ahgolor was Chip?

I have a feeling that if Hurts doesn’t learn fast, he’s going to be playing against AJ in the AFC.

as long he is the not the next Jalen Reagor and Denzel Boston (who was there) is the next Justin Jefferson
