April 25Apr 25 Big WR who will not help with blocking in the running game. Need to keep searching for a blocking TE later or next year.

It makes a lot of sense. Stowers made plays all over the field for Pavia. I would have preferred Delp, but I think people are being overly negative.

Block and catch. Having 2 different players.... is NOT a direct replacement for Dallas G. Overall draft went well, and with DG still here,....everything is fine.Drafting a large body WR is not exactly terrible. So do not interpret my surprise as a disappointment. Drafting Stowers and Lemon covers a lot of what AJ used to be.

Billy Bean style. LOL. Oh, Don't forget we have Johnny Wilson. I hope he can step his game up. Smith, Lemon in the slot, Wilson on the outside, Goedert at TE and Barkley in the backfield. I hope it works. Aslo with Stowers and Goedert can run double TE combos too.
April 26Apr 26 Author Again, this guy won the John Mackey award asthe Nations best TE. Keyon Sadiq didn't.
April 26Apr 26 Probably my favorite pick of the draft. I did very little research on him because based on the little bit I had heard about him and where he was expected to go I didn't think the Eagles would take him. I was expecting a more solid, well rounded guy in round 3 or 4 like Delp, Roush, Raridon, etc. The more I have looked into him the more I like him. His upside is through the roof with his athletic ability and considering he has only played the position for three years. Yes Sadiq is a better blocker but everything else is vritually identical in terms of size, how they are used, athletic ability etc and Stowers was flat out more productive. I'm not saying he is a better prospect or will be better than Sadiq but he is a nice consolation prize and I don't get all the hype from Eagles fans about Sadiq and then polarizing opinions with Stowers. He is also extremely intelligent, articulate, and seems like a phenomenal kid who wants to work hard and be great the more you listen to him talk. There is no reason he can't improve to the point of being a functional blocker and this isn't the 80's or 90's anymore where tight ends were more extra offensive lineman than they were pass catchers. LOVE LOVE LOVE this pick.

April 26Apr 26 I was hoping for a complete TE that can block, so our TE personnel can stop giving away when we're running just because Mundt is in. But he's a really good receiving threat, along with Lemon gives more options. It's clear that Lurie and Howie want major changes in the offense and to see more prolific passing and scoring. No more ugly wins scraping by and relying on defense. New scheme, new players, more player changes to come. Stowers also gets to learn behind Goedert as a bonus.

Guys like Tyler Warren that come into the NFL that complete are super rare and worth drafting that high in the 1st round. Guys like Bowers and Pitts still get drafted that high simply for their receiving abilities alone. For now, we still have Goedert here, and he should be TE1. Hopefully Stowers impresses enough early to get a lot of playing time. I mean, if he can just block better than Calcaterra, that will already be an improvement ... and that's a low bar.

Wasn't who I necessarily expected, but not a reach and addresses an area of need still. My disappointment has shifted to the Eagles reaching for Markel Bell in the 3rd round with the other OL and DBs available at that juncture, would have been a perfect opportunity to trade down and recoup a 4th round pick. Not sure if we'll be able to land a worthwhile S prospect with our late 5th round pick. Barring the team bringing in a veteran via FA/trade, we're rolling with a very thin safety room. One injury to either starter and we're in trouble.I was worried about safety as well, but now I’m thinking Howie has a post May1st free agency plan to sign veteran that doesn't count against comp picks. Simmons possibly?

I always liked him but he plays a physical brand of football and he is not the biggest guy which is why he has had an injury and concussion history.
April 27Apr 27 I just hope Stowers can learn to at least be "adequate" as a blocker. After seeing Goedert have a bad year blocking and Calcaterra being the worst blocking TE in NFL history, I might have PTSD. I was really...REALLY preferring Roush or Delp in this draft. Stowers has only been playing TE for 3 years so he may just be some good coaching away from developing that part of his game. Besides that, he'll be the most athletic TE we've had...maybe ever?

April 27Apr 27 Don't really care too much about his blocking. Get him isolated on LBs and get him the ball. His blocking will improve as he practices it more, but his value to the Eagles is threatening the middle of the field and making the defense replace LBs with DBs to try and cover him them running from some of those formations.
April 27Apr 27 Loving the pick more and more. Can he get, for the Offense, hmmmmm, 30 catches? 345 yards? 3 TDs??

Bowers and Pitts don't block at all. Bowers is considered one of the best tight ends in the NFL already and Pitts finally appears to have had his breakout season in 2025. Fannin had an awesome rookie year and I saw a lot people on the blog during the season saying the Eagles should have drafted him over Mukuba, doesn't block at all and Stowers is a better far more athletic version of him. Isaiah Likely is a really good player and just got the biggest TE deal in free agency, not a blocker. This isn't the 80's or 90's where TE's are part receiver/part offensive line.Maybe most importantly it comes down to he coaches being smart enough to put their players in a position to enhance their strengths and cover up their weaknesses. Eagles fans have PTSD when it comes to TE's and blocking after watching Calcaterra get used as a key blocker all season and fail miserably but that is on the coaches for not using him the right way. I would like to think that Mannion has a plan for Stowers that doesn't involve using him as a lead blocker all of the time. Lastly he has played the position for three years and is a freak athlete with the frame to add another 5-10 lbs of muscle so he can get better as a blocker to the point where he is adequate.Had the Eagles drafted Boerkircher or Kacmarek people would have complained that they can only block and have no receiving upside. Delp and Roush are more balanced type TE's but there lack of production (especially Delp) means they might never be anything more than solid backup TE's. Max Klare can't block either and Stowers is a way better receiver. The Eagles needed a TE and drafted the clear second best TE who was supposed to go somewhere in the 2nd round, at pick 54 in the 2nd round. The effort being made to be negative about this pick is silly. Before @LacesOut claims "word salad" again I'm going to explain to him what word salad actually means. When you talk a lot or in this case type a lot but you make coherent points that are clear and concise that is the opposite of word salad. Word salad is when you rant on and on and don't make a single coherent point or address a direct question with an actual answer. Thank you.
