Brent Celek wasn't a good blocking TE when he came into the league if I remember correctly.

With the way this offense is allegedly going to attack the middle of the field, a terrific pass catching TE sounds like a good fit.

I hope that it comes to fruition, but I need to see it, consistently, over the course of an entire season.

Give him a redshirt year.

I said elsewhere, having him on the field on game day will not make or break the Eagles season.

I mean he was actually close to some catches in the preseason but the passes have been such trash there was no way to make the catch

They took a developmental TE in the 2nd round. You wait until the 5th or 6th to take a flyer on a developmental player. 2nd round you should get pro bowl players. He can't block at all and doesn't have receiver speed to separate from CBs. He's a tweener. We've drafted well lately in the early rounds. Can't understand how they concluded to take a TE who had no blocking skills this high. This is a 5th round skill set. Hopefully in time he can be an effective move the chains receiver over the middle and a red zone threat. Just a horrible selection in the 2nd round

Stowers was a top 5 TE prospect across pretty much all scouting lists, most of the people around him were taken in the same round or the next. It just wasn't a good year for TE's that can block well, even Sadiq is only just about adequate as a blocker, Roush or Boerkircher would have been a better blocking pick but aren't as good with the ball, but Stowers looked like he could catch properly in College, maybe he just needs time to settle down and get his head round playing as a pro. He looks like a rough pick right now, but he wasn't in any sense a reach on the scouting there was no way he was still on the board in the 5th.

I think Stowers probably just needs a year to put on a bit of size. He’s probably going to struggle to find the speed needed to transition to a WR so he needs to work on his blocking technique and put on some size to be more physical.

Stowers' head is probably swimming. He converted from QB to TE just 3 years ago. He barely had time to learn how to play TE in college and is now trying to figure it out in the pros. He's gonna need time. Just hope he proves to be worth the 2nd round pick.

The guy I wanted the Eagles to draft was Sam Roush. He is definitely a more polished TE at this stage, good blocker and sneaky athletic. I think he woulda been the better fit but time will tell.

I liked Roush as well (but on day 3) or Klare. But the guy I wanted most was EMW. I stated my reaction at the time the pick was made as meh. Also wasn't excited about the Lemon pick. And was also on record saying didn't want to trade for Greenard. Now hopefully all 3 of them make me look silly for having those opinions! lol

LOL, wow! I'm with you on Stowers and Lemon, my thoughts at the time were very similar. I was initially "meh" on Greenard early on, but warmed up to the idea prior to the actual trade.

We may have to wait a year or 2 before knowing if you look silly or not, lol.

McNeil-Warren was a no brainer at the Stowers pick. BPA and position of need. Toledo connection with Mitchell. Would have immensely bolstered the safety position.

Howie got cute.

His draft wizardry is not infallible after all.

Right now.... he is UNPLAYABLE. He can't block. He can't get open and catch passes.
He can't do ANYTHING. That's pretty severe. All of OTA's, mini camp, training camp,
preseason games.... all this time to improve, and he hasn't. He looks like a freekin bust
so far. Weird.

Hopefully this pick will eventually pan out, like all picks. But that was where I wanted EMW too. Oh well. Howie wanted weapons for the Offense. 🏄🦮

When we were on the clock in round 1, I texted my one buddy and said, "Just please NO Lemon".

I know Stowers was a fairly highly ranked TE prospect but there were other players I wanted more (either at TE or other positions) there in round 2. I guess they are banking on future potential.

And I had a lot of concerns over dealing for Greenard. I would rather have used those 3rd rd picks to add more young players on cheap rookie contracts (that 3rd on Hunt was such a solid pick!).

Anyway, yeah ... obviously time will tell with them all. They are Eagles now so obviously rooting for them all to be wildly successful. I don't need them failing to make me look silly ... I do that well enough on my own!

Oh yea, they're a dime a dozen in the 2nd round . This isn't a fantasy redraft.

Anyone remember when we got Ertz and then Goedert ? They sucked too in the beginning. Kid just needs some time, I hope...

That needle has a good chance of moving towards him actually being a competent TE.

But he, unfortunately, may be a few years/seasons from that end product.

Ertz was not bad at all, he was good pass catcher in his rookie year. He only started a few games and ended up with nearly 500 yards..

Yeah I mean I think what’s a little concerning is he hasn’t really shown a lot in camp or preseason. And I know that doesn’t mean he can’t figure it out but he’s not flashed at all. He’s shown no real qualities that you think "okay there’s a real player there to develop”. But there’s still plenty of time.
