Interesting... Very interesting. I mean the Colts are in a tough spot. They are a good team but nowhere near good enough. Does Wentz push them over the top? I don't see it but with Rivers having retired they need a QB.

Don't count out the Bears.

One of my good friends is a Bears fan and he's going mad. When I mentioned the Wentz trade rumours he said "yep I'm currently trying to find someone to murder me".

Well, he was careful to say there's no trade "today" ha ha.

Listening to BwF earlier they were certain that they get out of the contract next year if he's traded this year. But hey who knows if they are right.

To clear it all up this season the Eagles would have to eat almost $34 million in dead money.  With the cap projecting to somewhere around $180 million they'd be handcuffed but could break clear after only one season.  The good news (if you are the owner of the team) is while the Eagles cap hit is enormous, the team actually saves $25 million in cash by not paying Wentz.  Here's the breakdown:

Trade (Pre June 1st designation):
2021 Dead Cap: $33,820,614
2021 Cap Savings: $852,922

Trade (Post June 1st designation):
2021 Dead Cap: $19,273,5382022
2021 Cap Savings: $15,399,998
2022 Dead  Cap:  $24,547,076

And what exactly were we with him?

Well let's see. We won a SB because of one of his seasons. And just last year he pretty much single handedly won us a division. You think teams would be in the market ready to part with first round picks for frickin Jalen Hurts?

In other words, a trade now makes a lot more sense than waiting a year.

So you've been on some form of the Eagles Message Board for 20 years...but can't quote a post or make sure to direct your post to the right person?

I guess so, if the move is to cut their losses and move on.

But let's not lose sight of what a fiasco this is and how one person, Howie, created it.

Nicely said. Short sweet and to the point.

Well you just used the quote function properly and to the correct person, so you did "that funky stuff" and you took instruction well, good job.  (Ignoring the bad grammar for now, the word is "to").

And no, they don't know who you're talking to hence this discussion.

If you'd like, I can be available for office hours on Monday to educate you some more.  B-)

Oh completely agree. This is a mess. If they are truly looking at a rebuild and trading Wentz is a move they make to do that then howie has to go. He won't of course but he should.

We are gonna suck for years. How the mighty have fallen. If you are gonna get rid of Wentz at least bring back Foles or something. Don't want Hurts.

Unfortunately so yes. I was talking to my good buddy @Ray75 about this the other week and I just think this is a bad situation for Sirianni.

When Doug took over he had some pieces to work with. He had some good players on this roster and was able to build around that.

When Chip took over he had a good offense.

Sirianni really has nothing. This team needs a rebuild and yet the guy in charge of that is just completely useless.

About you and your hating on Hurts, we finally agree on something.

Make sure you don't DROOL too much on your Carson Wentz pillow tonight.

I'll give you this... You're entertaining!

But I thought you said you don't use the quote feature?

Meh, if nothing else Hurts will get us another high(er) draft pick. Let 'im show what he's got. I'm doubtful, a quarterback rushing for a 1000 yards has never impressed me but whatev'a.

At some point enough is enough, right?  The Wentz stuff alone has set the team back five years.  To wit:

He drafted the wrong guy in Wentz when Michael Thomas, Zeke, Tyreek Hill and Joey Bosa, among others, were still on the board.
He kept Wentz over Foles after the Super Bowl season despite an increasingly concerning history of issues.
He signed Wentz to that preposterous contract a year too early
He then drafted Hurts, which seems to have destroyed the fragile Wentz's confidence
He's now trying to dump Wentz and his enormous contract which creates a major cap management problem and cripples the Eagles chances of getting out of the basement.

And we haven't talked about Jeffery, Jackson, the other Jackson, Peters and so on...

Best post yet in here. But keep hearing cap could go to 195 next year.

And we know with the new TV deals in 2022 , it could be 220M

Oh mate you don't need to preach to me I'm right there with you. Howie is a joke. He should not be anywhere near this team, he should not be leading a rebuild. This is a rebuild because he's caused it. And the only way out of this is to draft well and that's not something he can do.

Graziano in this clip confirms the $34m dead money if traded before 3rd day of league year.  He says (not in the graphic) that if traded after March 20th roster bonus it becomes $44m.  Waiting til June would cause a bigger hit next year (he says).

It's too bad Wentz couldn't get Howie fired as well before he goes. That would have made all this ok in my book.
