No matter how you look at this I don’t think this is a bad deal for the Eagles.

It's the situation the team put itself in. Again, I don't think Cohen is part of the deal. People heard another offensive player was involved. Cohen had wiped his Instagram account recently, so people speculated it was him.

Still, knowing the team and Wentz have to part, we want to get as big a return as possible to start moving in the new direction. Once the (or a ) deal is done, we just need to use the picks correctly.

Just the wacky combo of picks and QB swap. These days we get Madden-like trades in the NFL.

I think overall I’d probably just prefer the draft pick, but they threw in some extras. In a way they are needs too. A veteran presence backup (though I know his history here) to go with a versatile back. I’m not going to complain. Chip gave up the leading rusher for a broken linebacker.

Good I don’t want Cohen.  Just hand over more picks instead!

The pick or picks are what matters most. If it’s true they’re getting a one I’m pleased about it.

But what is the alternative?  Sign someone like Cam Newton?  If I have one year to go out swinging for my job then I'd rather do that with Wentz than Cam Newton or Winston Justice or Andy Dalton.

Watson is out there but no chance in hell he is waiving his no trade clause to get traded to Chicago where no QBs are ever successful.

I'm starting to see other rando tweets speculating the other player is Miller and we'd be sending a later pick (not day 1 or day 2) back to them.

How? They get a first, Foles who they can restructure and maybe help groom Hurts, a first, and Cohen who was pretty good till he got hurt and can help on special teams. People were saying the Eagles had to give up picks to get rid of Wentz.

They are also  supposedly sending pick number 37 to the Bears.

So if you look at it as two separate trades, we are trading Carson Wentz for the 20th pick. Then we are trading the 37th pick for Nick Foles and Tarik Cohen.

It’s weird, because I’d rather have the pick, but I really don’t have a lot of confidence that Howie will do the right thing too.

Let’s just let it play out. See who get what.

No idea why we would want Miller.

Let’s just wait and see what happens. A lot of rumors for sure. You thought that there was no chance they trade him, but you didn’t account for how much he wanted out, cause you ignored how he blew us all off. The Eagles are doing the best they can with the cards dealt to them by Wentz.

Well, we have even less need for another smallish HB. Cohen is on his second contract, while Miller is still on his rookie deal. Any player we acquire in a trade, needs to fit under our cap in 2021 since we are footing the bill for Wentz' new team (among other things).

We got fleeced. Our Detroit Gm over there in the lounge chair eating cheese cake.

"Rumors all over tonight on #Eagles trade of QB Carson Wentz. Here’s what I’m told. Wentz and a draft pick to #Bears for number 1 draft pick, QB Nick Foles, and RB Tarik Cohen who is coming off ACL injury but should be ready in September. @SportsRadioWIP”

Eskin tweet..... Doesn’t  sound like the 37th pick @downundermike. Seems like lower, but we will find out.

Eskin is never right

I did qualify that it was Eskin. 😂 I’m not seeing a lot of tweets saying the Eagles are giving up a day two pick though.

"There has also been some reports that Wentz is willing to renegotiate his contract to help necessitate a trade, and that he may also be open to giving back some bonus money to the Eagles just to get off that team.”

I know some of you still don’t believe it, but this is all 100% driven by Wentz. Whatever the Eagles can get for a guy who doesn’t want to be here is kind of a win.

There is nothing that can be renegotiated to lower the dead cap hit the Eagles take on.

Players renegotiate to help get under the cap all the time.

I'm not sure how it works with contracts, but if the player wants a trade, can't he renegotiate with the new team?
